AYSI198 Birthday Butterfly

Happy Friday, peeps!  It's time for another As You See It challenge, and we have a lovely sketch for you!

No photo description available.

I went very literal with the sketch; as I was making this card earlier in the week, I was lamenting that I never use these beautiful retired butterfly dies, so when I saw the sketch, I knew what I wanted to use!

Once I cut out the butterfly from Early Espresso cardstock, the rest was easy to put together!  I used some Share What You Love Specialty DSP for my banner...it gives a nice shimmer that you can't see here.  I added some silver thread, a sentiment from Happy Birthday Gorgeous and some Nature's Twine in Grapefruit Grove:

I had a little doily already half-cut and I used some sequins from my stash on a  piece of Thick White cardstock I embossed with the Woodgrain embossing folder, then mounted it all on a Grapefruit Grove card.  And since it fulfills the bottom row across of Stamp Ink Paper's Tic-Tac-Toe challenge, I am entering there as well:

So happy you popped in today...I hope that you'll play with our beautiful sketch this week!  Show us what you create at the As You See It blog!

A few more pictures from my Longwood visit a couple of days ago:

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CTS311 Birthdays

Happy Monday, peeps...another snowy, yucky day...at least we haven't gotten some of the atrocious weather that's affecting other parts of the country!  I hope you are all safe and sound! I got in a wee bit of stamping time between doing tax returns this weekend...blessedly, the CAS(E) This Sketch by Brian was a real easy one:

Since it's the beginning of the month, I am making cards for my church friends; this one has a decidedly "country" feel to it:

I used some papers from Carta Bella's Country Kitchen, matted in Poppy Parade, and stamped with a sentiment from Happy Birthday, Gorgeous:

I added a little grosgrain ribbon and floss trim for fun!  The second one is for a teenager, and I recently won a set from Paper Smooches called Teen Routine!

I stamped the phone image on a piece of DSP from American Craft's Little by Little 6x6 pad, which is also the source of the background paper.  I mounted it on a white card base that had been embossed with a Large Polka Dot embossing folder:

After stamping the sentiment from Itty Bitty Birthdays on the inside, I added a few more images from the set:

Thanks for popping in today!

Our old swing set is getting rickety, but Lee and Cassidy found that if you put snow on the slide, you can still go pretty fast!!

Enjoy your day and be blessed--stay safe and warm!

IB44 Soup in a Bowl

Hey everyone!  Happy November!  Yikes, how can that be, this year is whizzing by!  Laurel has a sweet inspiration photo for the first Inspired By challenge of the month;  I had actually been thinking of something along these lines even before I saw her photo!  So let's see what we've got:

And here is her inspiration photo:

Doesn't that soup look delish?  Yum!  I had seen these bowls in my local grocery store:

And someone brought these napkins to my Bible study one morning:

I loved the warm color and simple silhouette design and thought the images would work well with Laurel's challenge as well!  So I got out my Papertrey Wreath for All Seasons and some Crushed Curry cardstock for my silhouette wreath image:

I embossed it in white and added some Pear Pizzazz "berries".  Originally I was going to make a square element, but when I saw the FMS sketch yesterday, I went to plan B:

I didn't want to re-stamp a new image, so I just added another stitched panel to create the rectangle, mounted it all on some woodgrain DSP from Festive Farmhouse, tied on some Old Olive ribbon, and added my sentiment, also stamped on a little piece of the same woodgrain paper :

I love the earthy tones of this!  I hope you'll play along with our challenge this week...be sure to check out the IB blog so you can check out what the other designers created as well!

A little Halloween action the kids' neighborhood: Cassidy dressed as some sort of Minecraft being (Minecraft being NOT one of my favorite things, LOL!):

Eden dressed up in her very own Halloween tutu!

Another Halloween for the books, as Dana says:

Enjoy your day and be blessed...be sure to come back tomorrow for another As You See It challenge, too!

CTS293 Country Celebrate

Howdy, peeps!  Just a quick, fun little card today using the fun Case This Sketch sketch!  So here's the card:

and here's the sketch:

I used the rooster from Wood Words....it's been getting dusty on my shelf, so I gave it some love, plus today is National Farmer's Day!!:

The horizontal piece is from the Share What You Love DSP line; the sentiment is from Itty Bitty Greetings, and I stamped the woodgrain from Gallery Grunge on top of a Stitched Labels Framelit.  It also topped the sentiment with a little cross stitch panel from the same set of Framelits.  The circular element was stamped with Buffalo Check in Cherry Cobbler, and I added some Linen Thread for a little country accent.  On the inside, I used sentiments from Merry Christmas to All and Happy Birthday, Gorgeous to make a birthday greeting:

My card base is PTI's Rustic White!  That's it for today....enjoy your day and be blessed!

No Cassidy picture, but I snapped this a few days ago on the way into the library....of course, it had been raining:

What amazes me is that, except for the rain, we would never even know these webs were there...as I am sure they are!!!  Kind of spooky!!

JAI409 and CASCS273 Eclipse Birthday

Hi peeps!  Another post from me today, not my norm, but I wanted to get this card in for a couple of challenges, one of which is ending soon!  I have never tried the "Eclipse" technique but I thought it would be a good one for me to learn!  Of course, I watched this nice video AFTER I made mine, and in hindsight, I might have chosen a different paper, as it is a bit challenging to see!  But it's a learning curve, right!?  So here we go:

I am using one of the new In Colors that will be available June 1, this one is called Lovely Lipstick!  It's a nice, deep rich red and it makes for a happy card!  So here are the challenges I am entering!

The Eclipse technique from Just Add Ink:

And the sketch from CAS Colours and Sketches (I hope this is CAS enough!):

Here's a little different view of the card:

So I used the "enjoy" die from the Mini Treat Bag thinlets, popped it up on some very tiny dimensionals, then added balloons punched from Happy Birthday Gorgeous, and a sentiment from Better Together; (I taped off part of the sentiment and only inked up a portion of it):

I added some twine for the balloon strings and a Happy Birthday sentiment on the inside, and it was done!  It was fun, but next time I'll try something with a less-busy pattern!  Thanks for popping in again today!

Our property is alive with lots of spring things!  Yesterday I heard and saw my first Baltimore oriole of the season, and while I was trying to find him high up in the trees, I also saw a scarlet tanager!  While I was hanging clothes on the line, I saw a pileated woodpecker by our burn barrel, pecking on the wooden post John uses to poke at the fire!  This morning, while reading my Bible on the porch, I noticed this guy; actually, it might be a gal, looking for a place to lay her eggs:

She was in our back yard, but by the time Dana had dropped Cassidy off for school, the snapping turtle had quickly made her way to the creek that runs at the edge of our property:

Cassidy was a little apprehensive, and she kept her distance:

As long as you stay away from those jaws, you'll be good!

You can see that we've had LOTS of rain...look how green that grass is!  And it's raining again as I speak!!  Well, it's good for the water supply!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

SIP132 Cake Walk

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  I am going through a bit of a post-holiday stamping slump!  Thankfully the Stamp Ink Paper challenge of "Cake Walk" helped get me started on my January birthday cards!

No automatic alt text available.

Doesn't that cake look delicious?!  My only problem was that I have NO cake stamps....can you believe it?!  At least not one I could remember!  But I DID remember that SU's Birthday Memories DSP has several cake images in it, so I went with that!  So here we go:

My sketch came from the challenge at Global Design Project, which is to CASE Krista's pretty card:

I used a piece of the DSP for my background and fussy-cut a cake from another piece of DSP for my focal point; I added a little embossed background piece, a small doily, a happy birthday sentiment  and banner from Happy Birthday Gorgeous, and finally, some silver glimmer paper squiggles!  Perhaps a bit busy, but I love all the fun embellishments!

I had originally used Berry Burst for my banner, but it didn't seem to match my paper as well as I wanted it to, so I used Rose Red; now in the photo, the Rose Red doesn't match!  At any rate, I am sure the recipient will enjoy it (and not be as critical as I am, LOL!)!

So why don't you go on a cake walk of your own and share your "cake" creations with us at Stamp Ink Paper?  We can't wait to see them!

Cassidy sharing her new Uno card-holder!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
