Fun with Textures and Frames

Happy Monday, peeps, hope you had a good weekend.  I have stamp clubs today and one of the sets I'll be highlighting is the SAB set, Textures and Frames.  I have just a couple of samples I made showing what a fun set it can be!  The first one is a spooky Halloween card; I normally don't do skeletons and creepy Halloween stuff, but these little faces from the Cute Halloween DSP aren't too scary!  I simply stamped a bunch of circles and blotches in Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather on the background, added some bats and cut out my three little skulls:

They're mounted on a Basic Black diecut using the Ornate Frames dies, and the sentiment is from Little Delights.  The next one is a graphic design; I stamped the rectangle images in various shades on a Sahara Sand card, then added a sentiment from Happiest of Birthdays:

The Misty Moonlight banner is also stamped with the stripes from the same set.  Finally, I created my own plaid by stamping the stripes repeatedly on a Crumb Cake panel using Pumpkin Pie ink.  I then added some Stitched Leaves and Pierced Blooms leaves with a diecut bow and a sentiment from Banner Year, diecut with the Tasteful Labels dies:

That's it for me today...if you need any questions answered about the products, shoot me an email!  Enjoy your day and BE BLESSED!

AYSI234 Butterfly Birthday

Happy Friday, everyone!  Time for a new As You See It challenge, and we've got a recipe for you!  Here you go:

Image may contain: text that says 'Die Cut/ Punch Circles Siitiday lishes Birthday Butterfly Patterned Paper As Ypu See CHALLENGE #234'

These are such fun elements, aren't they?  I used the Fusion inspiration for my colors:

and the challenge at The Spot this week is Fun Folds:

So here's my card:

The fold on my card was inspired by a card my upline, Pennie McCallum, sent me (I'll show it below).  For my card, I used some So Saffron and Peony Garden DSPs with accents of Silver glimmer paper, and the Butterfly Gala stamp set along with the matching Butterfly Duet punch:

I heat-embossed a sentiment from Here's A Card in silver embossing powder and added some silvery sequins:

And here's what it looks like open...it's a bit challenging to photograph it!

I stamped a sentiment from Happiest of Birthdays on the inside:

And here's the card Pennie sent me, which is just the cutest:

So I hope you'll use our recipe to create a fun birthday card for a special someone!  Share it with us at As You See It and check out what the DT has created as well! Thanks for stopping by today!

PP507 Mallard Birthday

Hi everyone!  I am back from vacation in beautiful (s)lower Delaware and although I think it rained a lot here in PA, it was beautiful there! The beach was lovely, and all the storms we had were at night!  Anyway, I am back with this week's Paper Players challenge, and Jaydee is our hostess with a much-needed challenge:

Boy, we all struggle with those masculine cards don't we?  Well, I pulled out Field Journal because the images are great for masculine cards and they are easy to color in; for my card today, I chose the mallard:

I stamped Mr Mallard on some Crumb Cake cardstock in Stazon Black and watercolored him with various inks, using some white craft ink for his neck.  After coloring him, I overstamped the whole image with a retired background stamp called Weathered, and added some sponging to the edges.  It's hard to see, but the circle is mounted on a stitched circle of Kraft paper as well:

I added a sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings and diecut it with a retired Bitty Banners die; the background is from the Plaid Tidings DSP line, and the card base is Pretty Peacock.  I added another strip of the DSP on the inside, along with a sentiment from Happiest of Birthdays and a little pine sprig from Winter Woods:

And it qualifies for the Festive Friday challenge this week as well:

I used plaid, stitching, green and brown!

This was a pretty simple card to create....I rarely add a lot of layers or embellishments on my masculine cards for obvious reasons, although the guys in my family do tell me they enjoy getting my cards!  I hope you'll play along with our challenge this week!  The Design Team has some awesome creations!  Be sure to check them out the PP blog!  Can't wait to see what you create!

While we were on vacation, Cassidy started fifth grade!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP499 Color Challenge

Hello stampers!  It's Sunday, and I am the Paper Players hostess this week with a soft, subtle color challenge for you:

When I chose these colors, I must have had some project in mind, but when it came time to actually use them, I drew a blank!  I originally intended this card to be a masculine one, but it turned out to be kind of generic!  I was inspired by all the fun folds I saw in last week's gallery, so it does incorporate a different take on a normal top-fold card.  So here we go:

I started with stamping the large sentiment from Happiest of Birthdays in Seaside Spray and cutting it with a stitched rectangle die, then matting it with a scalloped die; the diecut wasn't quite large enough, so I actually cut two and pieced them together...you can see the seam at the top, but in the whole scheme of things, it's barely noticeable!  For the fold, I cut of half of the front at the top and down the middle, added a piece of Peony Garden DSP on which I stamped some leaves from Rooted in Nature.  I also stamped some leaves separately and diecut them out to embellishment my front panel.  So here's how the card looks as you open it:

I stamped the Buffalo Check background stamp in So Saffron, added another sentiment from the Happiest of Birthdays set and another diecut leaf; the front panel covers up the inside sentiment panel.  Just another fun way to add interest to a card.

The final step before adhering everything was to add some Seaside Spray and silver baker's twine to the front panel!  I think the bow turned it into a non-masculine card, at least that's what threw it off for my in-house critic John!

Anyway, I think the final outcome is fine and hopefully someone will appreciate it on their birthday!  And since it does use a different sort of fold, I am entering this at Inspire.Create, as their challenge this is Fancy Folds:

I hope you like these colors and can find something fun to stamp with them!  Be sure to share it on the Paper Players blog and while you're there, check out what the DT created!  Have fun and thanks for popping by!

3D Cube Card with Flowers for all Seasons

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  And happy July!  I went out of my comfort zone and created a fancy fold card today!  It's not that I am "afraid" of fancy folds, I am mostly just lazy, LOL! But I found an intriguing card on this blog a couple days ago and I was determined to make one for myself!  So here we go:

Isn't that something?  There are two cubes that open up, and it collapses to look like this:

And I created it while watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and Antiques Roadshow, so if I had been more focused, it would have taken less time!  But even still, it was not difficult at all!  Here are closeups of the stamped panels:

Of course, when I first started the card, I was just attempting a trial run...I have to admit that these brightly colored flowers are not my favorites, so I figured if I messed it up, it was no big loss!!  I also don't like how I did the sentiment panel, but again, it was a trial, and I do like the final effect of the card itself!  It is a BIG card....5 1/2" square, so you'll need to make your own envelope or find a larger one for it.  There is also a smaller version on their blog, so I will probably attempt to make that in the future.  The directions on the video are very clear, and they have measurements for both inches and centimeters! Anyway, this larger one requires 12"x12" paper, and the smaller one doesn't, so I am anxious to try it with some other color and stamp combinations!

Thanks for popping in today---enjoy it and be blessed!
