TTTC62 Blushing Bride Sympathy

Happy Thursday, peeps!  Phew, it's the last day of the month!!  I love that stamping and creating is a great way to take our minds off things!  It's time for a new Tic Tac Toe challenge, and here is our grid by Amy:

No photo description available.

I chose the diagonal line of pink, twine and layers to create, sadly, a sympathy card for a friend whose granddaughter lost her battle with cancer earlier in the month.  I have seen several cards using one of the borders from the Ornate Layers dies covering the front of a card, creating a lovely pattern, so I thought I would toss my hat in the ring and create a card using some Blushing Bride and Very Vanilla cardstocks:

I cut four of the borders, and I found the easiest way to adhere them is to use some spray adhesive....I got mine at a hardware store, and found a box lid in which to lay my diecuts (upside down, obviously), then sprayed them with the adhesive.  (I take mine outside so I don't get adhesive all over my craft room, LOL!)  I then applied them to the Blushing Bride mat, alternating the pattern...worked like a charm:

For some additional layers, I stamped a sentiment from Flourishing Phrases (sadly retiring) and used one of the little tags from the Trio of Tags dies to cut it out, then layered it on another filigree panel, diecut from the Ornate Layers dies.  I finished it off with some organza flowers that were sponged with a tiny bit of Blushing Bride ink and a swipe of Wink of Stella:

My twine is from a past Paper Pumpkin kit; I wrapped it around the front panel as well as tying it through the two tags.  Hopefully it will bring her some comfort in this difficult time.

I hope you'll play along with our Tic Tac Toe challenge...there are lots of possibilities for some spring creations with our grid!  Share yours with us over at the TTT blog!

Sympathy in Purple

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  No challenges today, just cleaning up some scraps on my desk to make them into finished projects!! I know you don't have any of those little bits and pieces hanging around, do you?  LOL!  This little cotton boll and thistle image from Reverse Confetti had been stamped and colored, but after seeing someone using the SU's Snowfall Accents Puff Paint on the Country Home image, I thought it would be fun to add it to this image as well!  So here we go:

The puffy paint certainly makes the cotton bolls look real! I love this effect!

To complement the purple in the thistles, I added some Gorgeous Grape DSP and a couple of Crumb Cake accent pieces.

My second card was for my pastor and his family, since October is Pastor Appreciation month.  I recently got this stamp set from the Stamp Market, and when I saw this card from Silke, I knew I had to recreate it!

I also got my color inspiration from the cover of the seasonal Close to My Heart catalog, LOL!

I stamped another leaf and added this sentiment on the inside!

Thanks for popping in today--enjoy your day and be blessed!

FMS400 Congrats

Happy Monday, everyone!  A real quick post today, Cassidy is back from camp and I am babysitting Lee and Jackie as well, so it will be a full house!  I wanted to squeak in a card for the latest FMS challenge---they're celebrating 400 posts!! Woohoo!  That Lesley, she was the queen of challenges for sure!  They are going retro and bringing back the very first sketch they offered:

My card is a congratulations card for another recruit that signed up, and I've let the Mosaic Mood DSP do most of the work:

My first step was to emboss part of the card base with the Subtle embossing folder.  Then I chose two of the patterns, die-cut them to size with stitched dies, and backed them with Soft Suede mats; I fussy-cut one of the butterflies from the paper and popped it up on a stitched circle:

It's also coated with Wink of Stella, which you can't see, but it's very pretty in real life!  After stamping my sentiment from Flourishing Phrases, a few metallic pearls were added for the final embellishments!  Off it will go in the mail today!

Dana posted a few pix of Cassidy learning how to make a blanket with a new type of yarn called Loopy; apparently you can make knit stitches without any needles!  She is already planning how to sell them, LOL!!!  Dana is an accomplished (and self-taught) crocheter, so I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Botanical Sympathy

Happy Monday, peeps!  My family needs several sympathy cards this week as a sweet family member lost her battle with cancer.  Blessedly, she coped with it wonderfully for many years and we all know she is in heaven rejoicing with her Lord!  The challenge at Just Add Ink this week is to make a sympathy card, and the sketch at Sunday Stamps fit what I had in mind:

I've been playing with Botanical Bliss and the matching Botanical Tags dies, and thought a diecut floral would look nice with the sketch.  I cut out a floral from some watercolor paper and watercolored it with Crushed Curry, Mint Macaron and Garden Green inks:

I haven't used Pineapple Punch much, as it is a little paler than what I like, but I combined two of the In Color patterns as a background for my flower and I really like it!

I finished it with a sympathy sentiment from Flourishing Phrases, stamped in Garden Green, and diecut it with a Stitched Labels die.  Easy and pretty!  Thanks for popping in today!

No Cassidy pix, but my backyard was very active this weekend, full of birds!  First, we have a nutso robin who has been sitting on our car mirrors (and making a big mess!), attaching himself to our screen door and throwing himself against the patio doors.  We think he is protecting a mama robin who is nesting on four little eggs under our shed roo!

Then we had a rose-breasted grosbeak who actually hung around ALL DAY!  He really liked the seed in my feeder and kept coming back again and again!

At the same time, we got an elusive indigo bunting--at least I think that's what he is.  There have been blue grosbeaks spotted in Delaware, but I am still thinking this is a bunting!  He was very skittish and I didn't get any close pictures, but was thrilled to see him nonetheless!

Finally, we had a brown thrasher, which I see fairly often, but several people told me they've never seen them....their yellow eyes make them quite interesting!

It was an exciting day! The grosbeak and bunting will not hang around, they're just moving through, enjoying a snack, then off to their summer homes, LOL!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI192 Glimmer Hello

Howdy, peeps!  Phew, it's Friday...with another storm brewing for this weekend!  A good time to stay inside and craft, right?!  Anyway, it's time for another As You See It challenge, and we have a pretty one..here you go:

Image may contain: text

SU has some beautiful Rose glimmer paper and I decided to pair it with the marblized paper from the Petal Promenade DSP.  The Flourish thinlets provided my main embellishment:

Iseparated the backing from the glimmer paper and added an Adhesive Sheet layer before diecutting.  It makes it a little easier to go through the Big Shot, but those little "chads" are still a bit challenging!  My Big Shot Die Brush helps though--along with a sticky lint roller...just lay your diecut piece on top and poke the pieces on to the roller!  My friend Joanne had a beautiful card where she created a frame and let the background paper peek through (you can see it HERE), so I decided to give that a try, creating my frame from Very Vanilla cardstock and the new (WONDERFUL) Rectangle Stitched dies:

I stamped a sentiment in Merry Merlot from Flourishing Phrases, added a little glimmer enamel dot to one of the flowers, then mounted everything on a Merry Merlot card base.  I love the deeper shade of rose with the lighter Rose glimmer paper!

So what metallics will you use for our challenge?  Foil?  Heat embossing?  Metal accessories or DSP?  There are lots of choices!  Share your creation with us at As You See It...can't wait to see what you make!

Another couple of pix from the aquarium...doesn't this look like fun?

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI191 Sympathy Butterfly

Hi everyone!  Yay, it's Friday, the start of the weekend, and the As You See It challenge is back for the new year with a marvelous sketch:

Image may contain: text

And here's my creation:

Since my time is really crunched this week, I turned to the beautiful Botanical Butterfly DSP that is being offered as a Sale-a-bration item this year.  These papers are GORGEOUS and really make your card-creating easy as pie!  I cut a piece 2 7/8" x 4 1/8", backed it with a Basic Black mat, then added a sentiment and a die-cut butterfly and it was done!

My sentiment is from Flourishing Phrases, and the butterfly is from the retired Bold Butterfly (retired) Framelits.  The little ribbon is also a SAB redemption item from the Organdy Ribbon Combo pack!

I hope you'll play with our lovely sketch..I will be using this one often...it's a keeper for sure!  Check out what all the designers created by hopping over to the AYSI blog!  Thank you for popping in here, too..be blessed and enjoy your day!

It was "Wear-Your-Pajamas-To-School Day"!!

Fab Friday 151

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  I have a couple of cards today using the Fab Friday sketch:

They always have such great sketches, don't they?  I originally had embossed this Merry Merlot card base to make a Christmas card, but I needed a birthday card for my niece, so I changed gears and stamped the flower from Flourishing Phrases in Berry Burst, added some embossed stitched lines and a pretty sentiment from Stitched All Around:

I added a scallop of some retired Sweet Sugar Plum glimmer paper and a glimmer enamel dot for some sparkle:

and finished it off with some glimmer ribbon as well:

My second card is a thinking of you/get well card for a friend who's going through a rough patch with some health issues!  This went together quickly with some Bo Bunny Petal Lane papers and a heart die from the Sweetly Stitched Framelits:

The sentiments inside and out are from Treat Time; I did a little fussy cutting for the inside one:

Thanks for popping in today!

Yesterday was my dad's 89th birthday; he is still battling some health issues but he did have dinner with us! He also told me there wasn't room for all 89 candles on his cake, LOL!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

SIP177 Lonely Tree

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  Cassidy has off today, so I am not sure what we'll be doing...it's supposed to get cold, cold, cold, so it will probably be an indoor activity!  Sadly, I needed another sympathy card this week; I had been toying with an idea for a card for a while and when I saw the Stamp Ink Paper challenge, I thought I could make it work:

The colors I used were Chocolate Chip (I had a piece on my desk already), Merry Merlot and Gray Granite, and here's my very CAS little creation:

I know it looks a wee bit Christmasy with that starry background but hopefully the recipient will find comfort with it nonetheless.  I used a tree die from In The Woods, backing my cardstock with a piece of Adhesive Sheet first; the hill is diecut with another die from the same set, and the heart was punched with an older SU punch:

The starry paper in Gray Granite is from the Twinkle Twinkle DSP series; I thought it looked nice for a quiet solemn sky!  Thanks for popping in today...if you have time to stop in tomorrow, there is a new Inspired By challenge!!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

This is the scary part of karate...Cassidy got her sparring gear!!  Yikes!  At least she'll be able to defend herself in any situation!
