Paper Players 209

DSCF4622

Hi everyone!  Happy Sunday---it’s time for another Paper Players challenge, and I am the hostess today!  Today, August 17, is a very special day—it’s Cassidy’s fourth birthday!  So in honor of her, my challenge is a clean and simple child’s birthday card:

PP209

Isn’t that graphic awesome?!  Thanks, Nance, for such a fun one to inspire us!  I chose to make a one-layer card using a retired image from Turtle & Company:

I know that children don’t really care too much about their cards, unless they’re older kids and then they only care about what’s inside their cards!   So, the simpler, the better!  I stamped Mr. Turtle in Stazon black ink and colored him with various markers….quick and easy!

I did add some googly eyes from the Halloween kit that was in last year’s holiday mini…..it just adds a little whimsy to the card; I finished it off with a sentiment from Four You!  And now, check out what the others created with my challenge:

And we hope you’ll play along too!  You can find all the details as well as the samples at the Paper Players blog!

Here’s a little walk down memory lane:

Watermelon Hello

DSCF3530

Happy Wednesday, peeps!   I have a cute card for you today; after seeing THIS card on Pinterest, I set out to make my own!  (You should check out ALL her watermelon creations---a week’s worth—very cute, each & every one of ‘em!!).  Plus I have a quick little tutorial for you too!  So here we go:

LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings Kind & Cozy Watermelon Card Stampin Up

Card base is Melon Mambo, with about 1 1/2” trimmed from the front,  with a panel of Wild Wasabi embossed with the Fancy Fan EF.  On a scrap, I stamped the plaid circle from Kind & Cozy and the center circle above it, then diecut it, and cut it in half to make my watermelon.  I added a sentiment from Four You, and used the new cute little heart punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack on the heart in the same set.  And how do you like my seeds?

DSCF3529

Of course, most watermelons in the store nowadays are seedless!  But I think I still like seeds on mine, so let me show you how I made them, again with that same little heart punch!

It may take a couple of practices to get the punch in just the right place to get the shape of the seed that is pleasing to you!  But soon you’ll be making seeds right & left!  LOL!  Anyway, here is the inside of my card:

Enjoy your day!

Cassidy decided her doll baby needed to be washed!  With a baby wipe, she proceeded to wipe the baby!

Then she blew on him to dry him off!

ColourQ241

DSCF2919
Happy Tuesday, everyone!  Another lovely color palette from Arielle today:

Simply gorgeous! And here’s my interpretation:

LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings ColourQ241 Hello Gorgeous Grunge Stampin Up

I seem to be on a CAS kick here lately; my card for today uses sketch 33 from CAS on Sunday:
and I’ve used Gorgeous Grunge, Four You and Itty Bitty Backgrounds for my card.  I added a gold foil banner and a little gold & turquoise heart:

To create this, I first punched a small heart using the Owl Builder punch in Tempting Turquoise; then I punched a larger heart around it with the heart punch  from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, which will be available in the new catalog!  I punched an identical heart from gold foil and adhered it to the back of the turquoise one.  It’s “floating” on a little piece of dimensional!!  Of course, gold sequins add a nice touch as well as some speckles from Encore Gold ink!  I hope you’ll play along with this elegant color combo and share you creation with us at the ColourQ this week!!

I am going to give you a break from Cassidy pictures (I’ll be back tomorrow with some) to show you a couple of bird pix.  This year has been amazing for my amateur backyard birding!  Under John’s shed roof, a ladder extension provided a good resting place for a robin’s nest and her four eggs:

Paper Players 191

DSCF2176

Hello peeps!  Happy Palm Sunday to everyone!  Ann is our fabulous hostess for today’s Paper Players challenge!  Check out these wonderful colors:

I was sort of whining to myself lately because I was seeing all these cool stencilled designs, some with stencilling paste, and I was thinking “Poor me” because I didn’t have any stencils….then a light bulb went on in my head and I remembered that I DO have some stencils!  I had the wonderful Build a Banner Simply Created set from last year’s Holiday mini, so I pulled it out and went to work:

I used the chevron and dotted stencils with the Calypso Coral ink, then stencilled the “h” in Artichoke and cut it out.

I then realized that any Framelit can also be used as a stencil!!!  Just leave the diecut IN the Framelit….don’t pop it out quite yet…..then use a dauber to color in the center.  Pop it out and you have a cool stencilled element!  Just be sure to clean off the Framelit between colors!

I hope you find this color combo fun to use too, and be sure to share what you do with it at the Paper Players blog!  And check out the others’ samples as well!

We did a wee bit of chalk drawing on the sidewalks this week!  (And don’t mind the outfit…she insists on wearing this hoodie which is waaaay too small for her, LOL!)  She wanted me to draw five people (I just do stick figures), all holding hands.  Then she added her own at the very end:

It’s a man holding the baby’s hand, and he has a MOUSTACHE, LOL!:

Enjoy your day!
