CTD845 Farewell to Color Throwdown

Happy Wednesday, peeps! I have a bittersweet post today!  The long-standing Color Throwdown blog is ending and today is the last post, and the team has asked some of the original members to participate! Our first post was in July of 2008 and I remember the excitement I felt when Tammy asked me to be on the team! I'll share that first card in a moment, but let's see what the CTD Design Team has picked for us this week:

A lovely seasonal palette for sure!  Here is another quilted card, similar to the one I made earlier  (HERE is the link to the original designer) and I wanted to recreate it using the challenge colors! So here we go:

This quilted card is such a great way to use up some scraps!  I used my Taylored Expressions Easy Strips 1/2" dies to cut out some fall patterned paper, then layered it on a piece of Very Vanilla, , added some Quilt Top embossing, then adhered it to a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock that had been embossed with a leafy embossing folder:

I did a little faux button and some twine, and then around my Honey Bee sentiment, I added some punched leaves and dotty embellishments:

And a lovely Bible verse for the inside:

Now, for a walk down memory lane; here is the first color challenge CTD had, as well as the card that I created for it:

I still love those colors!!  My photography skills were not too good then; in fact, it was pretty funny looking back at some of my posts!  We all have learned and honed our skills along the way, haven't we?  Anyway, I hope you'll go play with the last Color Throwdown challenge, give the ladies' cards some love and perhaps walk down your CTD memory lane as well!  Thanks for popping in! Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI360 You're the Micest!

Happy Friday, all! Happy Halloween! And time for a new As You See It challenge:

What a great theme! So many possibilitiees, right?!  I haven't played with my wee little Harvest Mice from My Favorite Things this season yet, so I got them out and got inky with them:

I stamped this little mouse and his harvest of apples on some watercolor paper and colored them with inks and an aquapainter, them added a diecut fence and some falling leaves, all on a background of some Thoughful Journey DSP:

I added the sentiment and mounted everything on a Cloud Cover card base.  Our local state representative's office recently notarized fourteen documents for me--no charge--so this is going to them along with some fall goodies!

I hope you'll play along with our "harvest" theme too!  Hop on over to the As You See It blog to see what everyone else came up with!  Thanks for popping in today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP760 CAS Foliage

Happy Sunday, all! Jaydee is our Paper Players hostess with a lovely autumn-themed CAS challenge for us:

I had so much fun creating my vivid leaves for a card last week, I decided to do some again, this time using some different dies and a leafy embossing folder as a background.  I know this isn't my usual CAS style, but it really came together quickly:

My dies are from Impression Obsession, and I diecut them from textured paper, then used a blending brush to add color.  I must say, those brushes are amazing for coloring an image quickly!  I ran a piece of Basic Beige through the embossing folder, then added a wee bit of shading around the edge and a little spritz of watery Pecan Pie ink for that "cinnamon" look (at least that's what it looks like to me!):

I stamped a sentiment in Poppy Parade (and I see I got a little too close with my spritzing--I'll have to fix that!) and added some maroon gingham that I colored with a Crumb Cake blend to make it a little more rustic!

I hope you'll play with our CAS challenge this week!  Just remember to keep your stamping and embellishments to a minimum!  Check out what the DT created as well over at the Paper Players blog!  Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

AYSI359 You Make Me Smile

Happy Friday, everyone! Hope you have something fun planned for the weekend!  It's recipe time at As You See It, and we have some fun "ingredients" for you to play with!  Here we go:

I remembered this fun Impression Obsession image I got a couple of years ago and thought it would work well for the challenge:

I stamped the image on some thick Basic White cardstock using Stazon ink, diecut it with the retired Ornate Frames dies, then watercolored everything in with reinkers:

I did use some shades of green, as one of the elements was flowers, so hopefully that was okay!  My sentiment is from Timeless Arrangements, and I made a frame with two different-sized banner dies.  The background paper is from an Echo Park Spooky Halloween pad!  I love those little swirly designs!

Hope you'll cook up something fun with our recipe this week and share it with us at As You See It!  Can't wait to see what you create!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

LRW829 Vivid Leaves

Happy Wednesday, peeps! I am way late today!  But I've been experimenting in my craft room and having some fun with some old products and new products!  I was totally enamored by THIS CARD created by my PP teammate, Stef.  Wowza, it is amazing!

I remembered that I had some retired dies from SU called Stitched Leaves, and I thought I'd  experiment with them to see if I could come up with something similar.  I used blending brushes and ink instead of alcohol inks to color mine, but I was happy with the vivid colors I was able to achieve:

Stef's challenge was to only use rust and yellow, but I went with all the fall colors!  The yellow leaf is diecut from some watercolor paper, but the other leaves were diecut with some new paper that will be coming out soon called Whispers of Texture.  If you look closely, you can see a wee bit of a woven texture on them:

I also added some new embellishments called Pearls of Beauty, and I unraveled some burlap ribbon to create a rustic bow.  Everything went on a panel of Country Woods DSP, and I stamped a sentiment from Simply Said.  I am going to enter this at the Little Red Wagon challenge because they're looking for a Captain's "log"...anything woodgrain!

The leaves outside my window don't look quite this bright, but they are beginning to turn!  Fall is definitely in the air!  Thanks so much for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC651 Hey There, Pumpkin

Happy Monday, all!  Time for a new Atlantic Hearts sketch:

and since I had a "pumpkin" class on Saturday--we stamped pumpkin-themed cards--I pulled out another pumpkin stamp I had in my stash!!  Here we go:

This went together pretty quickly; I already had the plaid paper cut but unused for another project; it went on a panel of Calypso Coral and on top went a panel of Cajun Craze.  It was diecut and embossed with the Gathering Leaves embossing folder.  The patchwork pumpkin was stamped in Calypso Coral as well, fussy cut and popped up with a little seam binding embellishment:

The sentiment is from the same set; I had a narrow scrap of Basic White that wasn't quite wide enough to fit the sentiment, so I re-stamped the top portion and fussy cut it out.  I embossed it with a polka-dot embossing folder and added some little orange dots, which in hindsight look a little too pale.  Maybe I'll fix that later!  I left the inside blank so I can add an appropriate sentiment when I need to!

This is a great sketch, I love it! I hope you'll play with it as well, and share your creation with us at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge blog!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AYSI358 What I Like About Fall

Happy Friday, all!  Time for a new As You See It challenge, and it's a great one:

I pretty much like EVERYTHING about fall, but I would have to say my favorite things are PUMPKINS!!!  Any shape, size or color!  I have so many pumpkin stamps in my repetoire, it would be next to impossible to pick out my favorite!  But I do love this rustic pumpkin-themed paper from Studio Light, so it is the focus of my card today:

Aren't those pumpkins gorgeous?  And I had to use one of my new Honey Bee stamps called Blessings of Fall; I stamped it on a piece of the leftover pumpkin paper,, then backed with with another diecut of Mellow Moss and Mossy Meadow:

It went on another piece of paper from the same pad, trimmed to a banner and "stitched" with a Concord & 9th die.  The paper is so pretty, it doesn't need another thing!

And here's a second card; I was playing around with some pumpkin stencils for an upcoming class, and this piece was a "leftover", so I made it into a card as well:

The stencil is from Spellbinders; cardstock is Basic Beige and Lost Lagoon; stamps are from CTMH, Fun Stamper's Journey and Pretty Pink Posh---a mishmash, if I do say so!

I could go on and on with pumpkins---but I like fall leaves too!  I hope that you'll share your fall creations with us---we're getting ready for full swing here in North America, but maybe your fall is different where you live! Can't wait to see what you come up with!  Thanks for popping in today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS706 Fall Toadstool

Happy Thursday, peeps!  I am going into a crazy-busy weekend, trying to get a gazillion things done! Ever have days/weeks like that?  I am sure it will all turn out okay!  I did squeak in some time to play with Amy's sketch at FMS:

So fun!  I deviated from my favorite pumpkins and leaves and decided to go in a different fall direction:

I've been hoarding this fun paper for a while....it's called Painted Seasons.  I backed it with a panel of Basic Beige, then stamped some images from Terrific Toadstools.  To give them some dimension, I added some shading with ink and a blender pen, trying to make it look more like the images on the DSP:

I wanted as much of the DSP to show through as possible, so I created a vellum circle and Poppy Parade border, then added a Honey Bee sentiment!  The background is embossed with the Gathering Leaves embossing folder.  I know these toadstools are called Fly Agaric (although mine is not exactly like that one), and can make you sick, but they are so eye-catching, I'll forgive them!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CH118 Blessings of Fall

Happy Saturday, peeps! A quick card today using the pretty hues from Color Hues:

I recently got some new fall dies and stamps, so I paired them with some vintage-looking papers that Dana gave me for my birthday! Here we go:

I diecut the pumpkins from Cloud Cover and Boho Blue, stems from Crumb Cake (with a little Pecan Pie watercoloring) and the leaf from Soft Succulent.  Sentiment was stamped in Secret Sea.  Such a pretty combination!

Thanks so much for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

How About Some Pumpkins?

Happy Wednesday, everyone! Well, my computer bit the dust today---just conked right out, and I am struggling with John's Mac until my new one arrives and gets set up! What an inconvenience! It took me a while just to figure out how to upload a photo!

Anyway, I had some of that shabby ribbon left over from yesterday's card, plus I have been moving around on my desk a stenciled panel I did a month or so ago, so I decided to put them together! It's not even for any challenge  But I must warn you, this fall stencil may make you feel a little cooler, LOL!  It was so cute, I ordered it even though it wasn't the right season!  So here we go:

The stencil is from Spellbinder's September 2024's Club of the Month, called Colorful Pumpkins.  I stenciled it on a Basic Beige panel using Cloud Cover, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, Coastal Cabana and Early Espresso.  I added a sentiment from Paper Sweeties, stamped on a retired Tailor Made Tag.  I then added my shabby bow and some linen thread I picked up at a yard sale!

It all went on a pretty Cloud Cover base.  Until I get my computer set up, I don't have a way to add the "recipe" so bear with me and if you have any questions, just shoot me an email!  Thanks so much for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP711 Grateful Hearts

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Time for a new Paper Players challenge, and the talented Joanne is our hostess with a seasonal color challenge for us:

Isn't that a lovely prompt?  One of the cards we made with the retirement ladies used a sweet little pumpkin image from Colorado Craft, so I decided to use that for my card, along with a couple of my favorite fall embossing folders!  Here we go:

I used the sketch from FMS:

My embossed panels of Crumb Cake and Pecan Pie were sponged with Pecan Pie ink and embellished with a Basic Beige ribbon.  The Basic Beige tag was embossed with a Fall Leaf Background embossing folder, then I added my Pumpkin Pie stamped and diecut image on top.  I added an orange glimmer bow and some orange sequins to jazz it up a bit:

I mounted everything on a Cajun Craze card base and stamped a sentiment from Thankful Forest Friends on the inside:

Orange is one of my favorite colors, so this challenge was right up my alley! I hope you'll play along with our fallish colors---and even if you don't choose a fall theme, I am sure you can come up with a creative alternative!  Share it with us at the Players and you may be our Headliner!

Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP710 Harvest Love

Happy Sunday, all!  Jan is our Paper Players hostess and she's asking for a "love" theme this week...always a good choice!

I went in a different direction with my card, choosing a fall theme, but I still got some "love" in there!  Here we go:

I stamped and diecut these little My Favorite Things Harvest Mice, then colored them in with inks and an aquapainter and put them on a Real Red panel that I embossed with the retired Cable Knit embossing folder:

I added a sentiment, stamped in Pecan Pie, and added a Pecan Pie mat to my embossed panel.  Finally, on the Crumb Cake card base, I stamped the Buffalo Check stamp in white craft ink to add to the warm country feel!

Please be sure to check out what the Design Team created over at the Paper Player blog...they're beautiful!  You'll get lots of inspiration so you can play along too!

PP708 Gingham Fall Sketch from Joanne

Happy Sunday, peeps! Joanne is our Paper Players hostess this week and she has a very interesting sketch for us! I really had fun playing with it too!  Check it out:

When we were at Cape May, I saw a cute little wooden pumpkin in a gift shop and it was decorated in orange buffalo check:

I thought it would be fun to try to recreate it, although SU's retired Buffalo Check would have been a bit too large for this card, so I searched the internet and found some orange gingham and went to work:

My pumpkin is a diecut from Papertrey; I cut out all the panels and sponged the edges with some Peach Pie ink to give them a bit of contrast and cut the leaf and tendrils from Old Olive. I continued the plaid theme with my vertical panel and chose the unusual color of Pool Party for my base, which I embossed with a Darice embossing folder.

I used a CTMH sentiment and I stamped and punched some leaves from the retired Beautiful Autumn bundle:

I stamped a sentiment from Beautiful Autumn on the inside as well!

I love the bright cheerful look of this card, and it was a lot of fun to figure out Joanne's sketch!  I hope you'll play along with us this week too!  Check out what the DT created with this fun sketch at the Paper Players to get some inspiration!

Friday night we went to the Solanco (Southern Lancaster County) Fair....it was the most crowded I have ever seen it! The weather was mild and the people were MANY!  I took a video of one of the events---I am not even sure exactly what they call it, but you'll see in the video:

So much fun to watch!  Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

Thankful Pumpkins

Happy Tuesday, peeps! I spent a wee bit of time in my craft room this morning and decided to make a fall-themed card for two challenges: As You See It has a nice sketch, and Hand-Stamped Sentiments has a lovely fall mood board:

I have been saving this pumpkin paper (well, hoarding it, really) for a long time, so I decided to finally break it out:

This is a larger card, 7.25" x 4.25", because I wanted to make sure I got all those pumpkins on it!  The papers are all from Recollections, called Thankful Heart.  I stamped the "thankful" in Mossy Meadow on some of the striped paper and matted it with a scalloped mat:

The floral image is from the same papers, diecut and matted with a Pistachio Pudding scalloped mat:

And although it's hard to see, I did add some speckled stamping around the pumpkins in Basic Beige, and added some Mossy Meadow twine and a few neutral sequins.  The inside is a sentiment from Simply Stamped, and I fussy-cut another pumpkin to add to the bottom. The vine stamp is from Close to My Heart:

I think this will make a nice Thanksgiving card!

It's Solanco Fair week, so I am off to put in a blanket that Dana crocheted as well as a small cross stitch project that I did.  I did several projects this past year....getting them framed was another story!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!
