PP449 Summer Splash

Hey peeps!  Happy Sunday!  Laurie is our hostess over at the Paper Players today with a super-fun challenge for us!  I am sure you can round up some images to play with us this week:

My summery stamps are more beach-related, but I did remember this cool surfer silhouette from SU a few years back, so I inked him up in a new In Color, Pretty Peacock, to create my square card today:

It's pretty CAS, which I am grateful for, as I seem to have gotten behind in sending out my July birthday cards, so this one is perfect for a young man in our church whose birthday was yesterday!  Ooops!  Luckily, the FMS sketch was perfect for it:

I added some "splashes" from Gorgeous Grunge; added a Pool Party scallop and a panel of Pretty Peacock that was embossed with the Seaside embossing folder.  I added a couple of words, lightly stamped in Pool Party, from an older Impression Obsession set called Imagine Words:

While I never surfed when I was a kid, I was a pretty good skimboarder....now I would be sure to break an arm, leg or other body part if I tried skimboarding, LOL!  But I do have fond memories of gliding along the sand on my orange skimboard!

While Cassidy is enjoying her vacation with daddy, I thought I'd share a flashback from July 2013 of her summer splash...she's giving her doll a bath, LOL!  I remember those days too!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP410 Surfer Guy

Hi everyone!  Hope you're having a good weekend....finally have some sunshine but my heart is breaking for all of those affected by Hurricane Florence!  My sister, who lives on an island off Charleston, SC, is fine, blessedly!  Prayers going out to all!

Sweet Claire is our Paper Players hostess this week with a Clean and Simple challenge, thankfully, as it was a busy week for me and this fit my schedule perfectly!  So here we go:

So anyone who knows me fairly well knows I do NOT do sports...I do like to swim, but I don't like to get my hair wet....I played volley ball a long time ago with some friends but I wasn't very good....and forget about RUNNING for any sport!  I am more of a reading/crafty/homebody type, and I might watch a football game with John if I have my cross-stitch nearby!!  I know that Claire loves to play tennis, and I actually think this is a great challenge, because the only sports-type stamps I have are masculine and I ALWAYS need masculine cards!  So here's my take on her challenge, using an old and a new stamp, a few ink colors and one layer of cardstock:

I used Linda's Freshly Made Sketches sketch for my layout:

The three lines on the left side are from a new set called Gallery Grunge, and they were stamped in Bermuda Bay, Pool Party and Cool Caribbean; I masked off part of the image to get the sizes I needed.  I stamped some speckles from Gorgeous Grunge in Cool Caribbean, then stamped my surfer  from Extreme Surfboard in Bermuda Bay.  I did add a few Clear Epoxy Drops from the Holiday Mini catalog to add some "splash"!!!

I think this is  a great image for a guy's birthday card!  Be sure to check out what the Paper Players DT did with this challenge at the PP blog, then make sure to post your clean-and-simple creation there too! Can't wait to see what you make!

And here are a few more pix from around the yard a couple of weeks ago, since it's been raining so much, Cassidy and I haven't been outside for over a week!

A little frog hiding in our creek:

A pretty little flower; it's just a weed, but still pretty:

And in the brutal world of nature, it's spider eat grasshopper...or maybe it's a cicada, I can't tell:

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Cowabunga!

DSCF2356

Growing up, “cowabunga” was a cool beach/surfer term (way before the Ninja Turtles!), so when I see this retired SU image, that’s the word that comes to mind! LOL!  Anyway, this is a simple card for my nephew’s birthday.  He doesn’t surf but I am sure he wishes he did!

DSCF2353

I just cut various-sized circles, stamped some polka-dotted images and mounted them on some Cosmo Cricket Salt Air dp.  Easy!  I like that it’s in a non-traditional color, too!  Thanks for visiting today!

Blowing “kisses”!
