PP658 CAS Sports x Two

Happy Sunday, everyone!  I hope your weekend is going well!  It's the fabulous Claire's turn to host our Paper Players challenge today and she has a great one!  So here we go:

I actually made two for this challenge; the first one I thought was not quite CAS enough!  So I just made another! I can always use them!  So, here we go with the first one:

In my search for some graphic-style paper, I found some in my stash that matched Starry Sky pretty well, and since that's a color I rarely use, I thought I would challenge myself! I pulled out a retired stamp, Exteme Skater, a Paper Pumpkin sentiment and some Gorgeous Grunge and did some simple stamping; I hope skateboarding is considered a sport, LOL:

Everything went on an Orchid Oasis card base and I added a strip of the same paper on the inside:

And here's my first card, I used retired sets called Have a Ball and Your Biggest Fan along with the FMS sketch for this week:

Here's the sketch:

And the inside:

I think this is a great opportunity to create some clean-and-simple masculine cards!  What sports fan do you know who would love a card featuring his (or her) favorite team or sport?  Put on your creative thinking caps and share your creation with us at the Paper Players!

Here's something I made while pursuing one of my favorite "sports"--knitting!  I made up this pattern off the top of my head; in the future I'll make it less bulky at top and bottom!  The retired Stitched Leaves dies came in handy to create the felt leaves!

Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

IB177 Shred the Cake

Hi there, everyone!  Thursday's here and with it comes a new Inspired By challenge...I love that it's a masculine one:

I must be really out of the loop because I have no idea what "shred the cake" means....must be a skateboarding term!  Here is our optional sketch, too, which I sort of used:

I have this "retro" SU skateboarder image, so I used my Stamparatus to stamp it on some Smoky Slate cardstock, and here's what I ended up with:

I cut the stamped panel into three panels, mounted it on a Basic White base, then added some enamel dots to pull in some color reflected in the skateboard on the wall:

I found some retired Taken with Teal cardstock and created a card base, then used a die from Stitched Leaves to create some interest at the bottom, and added a Real Red Stitched Nested Label as a background to this cool "celebrate" image that I got from a sweet friend!

I used the bold sentiments from Biggest Wish to stamp the inside:

I like how this turned out ! It's always a challenge to create masculine cards, but this one came together quickly!  I hope you can find some inspiration from our fun photo....can't wait to see what you create with it!  Check out what the DT created as well at the Inspired By blog!  Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

ColourQ84 and Mojo190

DSCF6156

Happy Tuesday, everyone! I seem to be on a masculine kick these days because all these color challenges thrown at me have been deep earthy colors! Check out the palette Arielle has tossed our way today:

What a modern, edgy pillow! I shelved my first attempt at using these colors (more on that later) and opted for something a bit cleaner & simpler using the Mojo Monday 190 sketch:

Here we go:

I tilted the “ribbon” to mimic the angle of the skateboard as well as give the card some visual interest. I was worried about how I would incorporate Daffodil Delight into a boy’s card, but I remembered a cool technique I hadn’t done in a while: use an acrylic block as a stamp. I inked a rectangular block in my DD ink and stamped it at an angle on my main image. The ink did not adhere to the center of the block, and that just happened to be where my skater was! Cool, huh? Here’s a closer look:

The rest of the card is straight-forward; jumbo grommet, glimmer brad, stars & neutral brads, and a sentiment from Verve’s Birthday Bash set.

Now, for my first card…you have to promise not to laugh too hard because I’ll know if you do. It just sort of kept morphing and turned into a nightmare:

CQC84-LeAnne #2

Reminds me of a square dance on steroids! I was trying to incorporate a sketch, colors, ruffles, buttons & bows…..just a little over the top! I do like the sketch, so I think I’ll just try again in a day or so! LOL Now here’s something I DO love:

Two more teeth popped through yesterday---which explains some fussiness! But she was a trooper! Thanks for visiting today!
