Epic Guitar Birthday

Happy Tuesday, peeps! I have a quick card today for two challenges:  a past sketch from In(k)spire Me, which is celebrating their 12th anniversary, and the Global Design Challenge, which is looking for stripes! I chose the past sketch # 470 from IM for my sketch:

and Best Family Ever and the retired set Epic Celebration to make a birthday card for John's guitar-playing nephew!

SU's DSPs this year have a nice bold stripe, so I chose the Blueberry Bushel one and accented it with a strip of Blueberry Bushel cardstock which I embossed with a Diamondplate embossing folder! The guitar was also stamped in Blueberry Bushel and colored with Blends:

I added a couple of sentiments on the inside, and it's stamped and on its way!  Josh plays the guitar and sings in his church's praise band, so I hope he likes it!  Thanks for visiting today--enjoy it and be blessed!

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.  Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him
with joyful songs.  Psalm 100:1-2

IB127 Colorful Kicks

Happy Thursday, peeps!  Hope you are coping in these difficult days!  It's time for another Inspired By challenge, this is a cute one, but it did give me pause!  Here's the prompt, as well as the option sketch:

I knew exactly what stamp set I was going to use, but I really wanted to incorporate all those fun colors in there too!  So here's my final product:

I stamped, colored and cut out the sneakers from Epic Celebration, but all my circle stamps were too large for the background I wanted to achieve.  So I used a circle die and a sheet of acetate to create a stencil of sorts, then stamped my circle stamp directly over top of it, cleaning between each color.  Surprisingly, it made these fuzzy edges, which were pretty cool, so I added some speckles to funk up the fuzzy:

I added a sentiment from Label Me Bold, a layer of Blueberry Bushel, layered that on a layer of Coastal Cabana that was stamped with the smudge stamp from Label Me Bold, and then on a Whisper White card base.  Here's the inside....sentiment from the same Epic Celebration, but I stamped my circles full-size right on top!

And since The Spot has a masculine challenge this week, I am entering this there as well!

There are so many directions in which you could go for this fun challenge....can't wait to see what you create!  Share it with us at Inspired By!  Thanks for popping in, and enjoy your day!

CTS367 Epic Celebration

Happy Saturday, everyone!  Are you having some crazy weather?  We sure are---but no snow like I've seen in some areas, thank goodness!  A friend contacted me about a SU set from SAB a couple years ago, Epic Celebration.  I stamped a few images for her and sent them off in the mail, but it got me to thinking what a great set it was, and I needed a birthday card for a teenage boy in our church, so off I went to create:

I wish I had gotten a little better picture of it, but its in the mail, so these will have to do!  I used the CAS(E) This Sketch layout:

I used the grunge stamp from Label Me Bold to create the ombre-hued layers; I used Basic Gray and Smoky Slate, stamping each full-strength one time, then stamping it again without reinking.  A few little speckles from Itty Bitty Background in Riding Hood Red finished my background.  Then I stamped the Epic Celebration images in Basic Gray and colored them with Blends and Copics, fussy-cut them out and adhered the to the background:

I stamped the sentiment in Riding Hood Red ink and layered the image on a Riding Hood Red card base!  I just love how this turned out!!!  Thanks for visiting today!

We had some unbelievable winds Thursday night; I didn't hear them (Nyquil helps) but John did, and when he went out Friday morning, he found this behind his garage:

Blessedly, it wasn't near the house, and it totally missed the garage as well.  He said he'll probably take the whole tree down at some point.  I am willing to bet it made quite a crack---unless it's like that joke, "If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around, does it make a sound?"  LOL!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Epic Celebration Guitar

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  This is my first foray into using Brushos!  A few months ago I had no clue what they even were, but now SU is selling some so I thought I would give them a try.  There is definitely a learning curve and I have found lots of help on the internet, but there are several different ways to use them!  So I am in practice mode right now!  I am happy that SU has come out with some masculine stamp sets this spring and I thought the guitar from the SAB set Epic Celebration would be perfect to use with the CAS Watercolour Challenge for January, which is Birthday!

I started out with some cheapie watercolor paper, since as I said, I was in "practice" mode, and I was pretty happy with my first one...I made two, they're very similar but of course, with any watercoloring, no two are ever alike! So here we go with the first one:

I stamped my image and sentiment with Versamark and black ink together, then heat-embossed them with clear embossing powder; I used an aquapainter to lay down some water around the images, then sprinkled on blue and yellow Brusho and tilted the paper a bit, "helping" the color spread with my aquapainter.  It looks pretty "epic"!!  The sentiment was punched out with a circle punch and matted with Basic Black cardstock diecut with the Scalloped Layering Framelit.  The card base was Crushed Curry:

Same technique, card base is Dapper Denim:

You can see how different each one is, depending on how much Brusho you use and how it blends!  Definitely need more practice!

Cassidy went to a birthday party before Christmas...the little boy's mom and Dana went to Sunday School together and now their children are too!  In the background, you can see my great-nephew Jameson as well!  It's a family affair!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
