Hello Sweet Friend

Happy Thursday, peeps! I have a fun little card today for three challenges; the FMS sketch, the friend of mine challenge at Little Red Wagon, and the envelope challenge from CAS on Sunday:

So here we go:

I started with a little scrap of Pool Party DSP and created an envelope with it using the Love Notes dies, then added a little note stamped with the "hello" to tuck inside. I stamped some hearts from the retired Wood Words in Blushing Bride ink and mounted both on a panel of Pool Party diecut with the Perennial Postage dies and stamped with Elements of Text.  I had one last little piece of this twine that I wrapped around the envelope, then mounted it on a piece of DSP. The DSP is actually Petal Pink; I always get those two colors mixed up, but it'll have to do, LOL!

My final addition was the "sweet friend" from Poppy Stamps, stamped on a little banner.  You'll see some of these papers again tomorrow--spoiler alert!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Masculine Tag Birthday

Happy Thursday, peeps!  I have a fun birthday card I made for our nephew; it's always a challenge for me to make masculine cards, but I recently got a fun Tim Holtz die, so I pulled out some cardstock, printed paper and went to work:

I diecut a piece of Early Espresso with the die, then backed it with a stripey piece of some scrap DSP from my stash.  Of course, after I adhered the background paper, I decided to stamp the front with some script from Elements of Text in the same color.  I cut a tag with a die I've had for years and don't think I ever used, then stamped a birthday sentiment on it, and added a diecut star and some fun twine.

A simple sentiment went on the inside.  I can't wait to play with these dies some more!  Thanks for popping in today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC664 Thinking of You

Happy Monday, all!  Time for a new Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge:

I used some beautiful papers from Beautiful Gallery, but unfortunately, covered up the prettiest roses!  Duh!  Anyway, I used a plate to cut the arched edge and stamped some Elements of Text with Versamark ink on the right side of the Cloud Cover card.

The foliage, stamped in Secret Sea and Cloud Cover, are from the retired Forever Fern; the sentiment is from The Right Words.

I added some sparkly gems and it was done!  Even though the roses are covered up, it's still pretty in these blue hues!  I hope you'll play with our fun sketch this week too!  Share your creation with us at the Atlantic Hearts blog!  Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP750 Color Challenge from Claire

Happy Sunday, peeps! Hope your weekend is going well so far!  Claire is our Paper Players hostess this weekand she is definitely challenging us to think "FALL" with these beautiful colors! Check these out:

Now I have a really busy week ahead, so I opted to let my papers do most of the work, LOL!  Here we go:

These beautiful papers are from Studio Light, called Wonderful Autumn, and I believe just about every color in Claire's challenge is featured here!  I did add a pretty diecut sentiment, stamped on Kraft cardstock in Blackberry Bliss ink, and I added a Blackberry Bliss shadow behind it along with some Blackberry Bliss ribbon I found in my stash:

For some added interest, I stamped some text from Elements on Text along the left edge, then mounted it on a Cherry Cobbler card base:

An older W+9 set provided the inside sentiment, along with a Teeny Tiny Wishes sentiment (that I stamped crookedly and had to "repair"):

I think these are such beautiful colors together for any fall stamping, I hope you'll play along with us at the Players this week!  Of course, if you think out of the box and have another occasion for which to use them, that's great too!  Can't wait to see what you create!

Are you tired of birthday cards yet? I have more! This gorgeous vintage creation is from Fran; so much goodness to look at:

This fun, sparkly one is from my sweet friend Sandy:

And this sunshiney, cheerful card is from Karen in sunny Florida:

Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy your day and be blessed!

FMS689 Sepia Sympathy

Happy Friday, all! I'm a little behind schedule today!  Since John told me I needed to make more sympathy cards, I decided to use the FMS sketch from Cecile to remedy that.  Here it is:

I made my central portion of the card, then realized it was too big to fit on the size card I wanted!  So I opted to make a larger 5" square card!  Here we go:

The scripty portion is from Elements of Text, stamped in Crumb Cake, and the greenery is from the retired Nature's Prints, stamped in Crumb Cake and a wee bit of Pecan Pie:

I added a Crumb Cake mat and a scalloped Pecan Pie mat, as well as a bit of twine and pearls from embellishments.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.  I did add a few speckles around the edges as well, they're also from Elements of Text.  It feels good to use some of my older retired sets!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Hello Friend

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  I'm on the fence about my card today! I used the colors from Creative Colour Challenges as well as the sketch from Sketch Saturday:

So here we go:

I used several sets here! The bird and sentiment are from Country Birdhouse and the background behind it is Elements of Text.  I stamped the bird in Basic Gray and colored him in with Soft Sea Foam a wee bit of Lost Lagoon ink.  The little leaf is from Iconic Imagery.  I added some embossed and diecut layers, and the mat is Every Day Happiness.  The final embellishments are some matte dots and some gray gingham ribbon:

The gray was the hardest to incorporate; hope there's enough here to qualify, LOL!  It was fun to put together anyway! And speaking of birds, I haven't shown my almost-favorite guy who visited my suet yesterday:

My feeder is right outside my craft room window, but there is a screen, so it's not perfectly clear, but regardless--isn't he impressive?  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Thinking of You

Happy Thursday! I have a sort of experimental card for you today; for the life of me, I cannot find the blog on which I saw this technique done! I thought I saved it but can't find it, so if someone knows, let me know and I will give the proper credit!

Anyway, it involves stamping an open artwork stamp in white ink on kraft or Crumb Cake cardstock,  heat embossing it, then coloring in the image with watered-down white ink.  After drying, you can re-color overtop of the white ink to achieve a brighter color than if you were just to do it directly on the brown cardstock.  So I experimented with the You Are Remarkable floral, using the FMS sketch and the Color Throwdown colors:

So here we go:

So, as I said, this was defnitely experimental!  I first stamped one of the text images from Elements of Text in Crumb Cake ink on the Crumb Cake panel.  I stamped and embossed the floral image, then filled it in with white ink and an aquapainter (wish I had taken a picture of it!).  It is easy to fill in because the embossing keeps the ink in place! After it dried, I colored it in with Blueberry Bushel, Lemon Lime Twist and Garden Green inks, also with an aquapainter.  I love this effect! The part I am not crazy about is the sponging I did around the flower with Pecan Pie ink....I would definitely change that if I did it again.  I added a sentiment from Happiest of Days, diecut everything with the Perennial Postage die and adhered it to a Misty Moonlight mat and a Basic Beige card.  I threw on a few sequins from my stash for fun.

This was definitely a fun technique and I'll be giving it a go again!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

SOS542 One Layer Thinking of You

Happy mid-week, peeps!  The Shopping our Stash challenge is to make a one-layer card!  We all love layers and layers, don't we?  Using just one sheet of cardstock seems just minimalistic!!  But I gave it a go:

I used Thick Very Vanilla cardstock for my base and used an acrylic block to create my background; I simply plonked the block on to the Crushed Curry inkpad and then used it as a stamp!  I am thinking I should have "stamped off" once to get a lighter shade, but I went with it.  I overstamped it with one of the scripts from Elements of Text in Crumb Cake, then stamped the floral image and bee from Queen Bee in Stazon Saddle Brown.

The sentiment is from Everyday Greetings.  I did add some speckles from the Elements of Text too:

I already have a recipient in mind for this card, so it will be in the mail tomorrow!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

I will remember your great deeds, Lord; I will recall the wonders you did in the past.  I will think about all that you have done; I will meditate of all your mighty acts.  Psalm 77:11-12

FMS673 Just A Little Thank You

Hi peeps!   My card today uses the sketch from FMS:

I have had this piece of Everyday Happiness floating around on my desk for several days and I thought I could make it work with the sketch!

I matted the floral with a piece of Pebbled Path, then cut a circle from the Wild Wheat piece and stamped it with the circular image from Elements of Text.  I diecut a piece of "greenery" from the retired Forever Flourishing dies, and finally, a little banner sentiment from Terrific Toadstools:

Some retired Lost Lagoon ribbon and acrylic dots finished it off!  I love how this paper looks like it is textured! So cool!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Latte Love for My Friend

Happy Friday, peeps! This will be short and sweet, as I'll be stamping with my friends at the retirement community today! They'll be small in number but we'll still have fun!

I needed a birthday card for my college roommate, and the color palette at the Color Throwdown looked like fun, but I am pretty sure it's just those cookies talking to me, though!  They look delish! :

I pulled out a few scraps of DSP and a couple stamp sets and here's what I came up with:

First, I stamped some scripty words from the new Elements of Text on a Crumb Cake card base, then added some tan gingham paper as well as the Pretty in Pink DSP.  I embellished the edge with a couple of stitched border dies and added pink gingham ribbon.  I used one of the coffee images from Latte Love, and a sentiment from the retired Wood Words:

I am regretting putting that pink dot in the middle of the coffee, but it's done now, LOL!  A sentiment from Sketched Butterflies went on the inside:

I am going to enter this at Krafty Chicks also, where they're looking for birthdays!

My friend Mary and I go back to 1972 when we were in college together in East Orange, NJ.  How things have changed, but when we get together, we just pick up where we left off from our last visit!

Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!
