PP741 A Friend is a Garden

Happy Sunday, peeps! Time for a new Paper Players challenge with Stef as our hostess this week! She chose a very pretty color palette for us to play with:

What a pretty combo!  I pulled out a few retired products and went to work:

I started with a pair of frames from Penny Black, diecut in Soft Sky and Soft Seafoam.  They framed this older sentiment from Cornish Heritage Farms, stamped in Balmy Blue and accented with a Stitched With Whimsy die:

My Petal Pink and Soft Sea Foam flowers were diecut with the retired Pierced Blooms dies, and I sponged some extra color on them to give them a bit of dimension:

Another retired Cornish Heritage Farms sentiment went on the inside:

And since I've used frames, I am going to enter this at the Double D Challenge, which wants us to use frames:

I hope you'll play along with our challenge colors this week! Be sure to stop over at the Paper Players blog to see the delightful creations the design team created!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

KCC766 Patriotic Birthday

Happy Thursday, all! I have two quick cards to share today for the Krafty Chicks birthday challenge!

These are uber-easy, just a little stamping, fussy-cutting and die-cutting, and they're good to go!  Here we go:

My papers were really the inspiration for the cards; I used Honey Bee's Americana and added a vintage star and sentiment from the retired Country Road stamp set, and added some Misty Moonlight and Cherry Cobbler banners:

And how about that?  I used a brad from waaaaaay back to accent my stars!  The inside was stamped with an older Cornish Heritage Farms stamp and another little strip of the paper for fun:

Masculine cards can be a challenge but these were easy!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

JAI731 & RRCB245 Winter Sleigh Rides

Happy Friday, peeps! Are your Christmas cards all done?  I have mine almost all addressed and ready to go, but I still love making them!  Especially when there are so many fun challenges out there! The one from Just Add Ink really caught my eye, along with the Tic-Tac-Toe board from Retro Rubber:

I was inspired by the red, white and tan colors in the photo and I chose the middle row down on the TTT board of texture, greenery and tag, although I could have also done a couple more of those rows/columns!  So here we go:

I used a really old Cornish Heritage Farms set called Winter Signage to create my little sign; it is mounted on a piece Country Woods DSP tag, cut with a Bonanza die.  That stamp is at least ten years old, LOL!  I added diecut greenery in Evening Evergreen and a bit of Cherry Cobbler striped ribbon that retired long, long ago!

I mounted everything on a Cherry Cobbler panel that was embossed with a Tim Holtz embossing folder called Deer Knit.  On the inside, a sentiment from Greatest Part of Christmas (2019), along with a wee little cup of cocoa from Merry Cafe (2017):

I did add a few little cherry cobbler "berries" for fun!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Inspired By Seashells #297

Happy Tuesday, peeps! This heat wave is really affecting my mojo....I think it just melted away!   I couldn't come up with anything amazingly original, so another beach-themed card is on deck today; this one uses a wee bit of inspiration from Inspired By's prompt:

I just got the Seaside Wishes, so I couldn't wait to put it to use, along with an older background stamp.  Here we go:

I used the Pretty in Pink starfish as my starting point and decided to keep the pink hues rather than the bright ones in the photo.  I stamped and embossed the sand dollar with Flirty Flamingo ink, and the coral (what IS that thing, anyway?) was diecut from Calypso Coral.  It was too dark for my liking, so I sponged some white ink on it to tone it down...much better!

To bring in a little blue, I stamped the cheesecloth image in Balmy Blue on Basic Beige, and added a sentiment from the same set.

My final additions were some "sand"stamped around the edges and some pink sequins!  I can't wait to play with this some more!  Thanks for popping in today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP692 Patriotic Friends

Happy Sunday, peeps! Time for a new Paper Players challenge with Jaydee as our hostess! It's theme week and what a fun one Jaydee has chosen:

Where would we be without our friends, right?!  So let's go!

I bought this Technique Tuesday stamp several years ago, just for this image, I loved it so much! I used it ONE TIME....and it went missing in my stamp room.  I tore everything apart and never found it.  Fast forward to about a year ago, I was looking through some vintage-type papers in one of my folders and lo and behold, stuck to the back of one of the pages was my stamp!  Phew!  I wanted to make a patriotic-themed card and this image seemed to fit the bill, along with the theme of friendship! I stamped the image in Real Red and fussy-cut it, then added a sentiment, some blue banners and some yummy blue gingham:

On the inside, a birthday sentiment, a little strip of the opposite side of the DSP and I'm ready to go for a July birthday!

And since the Color Throwdown challenge this week features my card's colors, I am going to enter it there as well!

Friendship is one of the best and easiest themes we could have, so I hope you'll take the challenge and make a friendship card, then share it with us at the  Players' blog!

Before I go, I am going to brag on Dana little....she always has to listen to me (and my two sisters) yak on and on about the birds we saw and/or heard, and when she sent me this video, I almost fell off my chair.  She took it through a window, so there's a glare and some background noise (you may want to hit the mute button to keep from hearing annoying commercials!), but she captured this female pileated woodpecker amazingly:

She's afraid she's becoming a bird nerd now, LOL!  Thanks for watching, thanks for visiting and be blessed today!

SSC336 Knitting Keeps Us From Unraveling

Happy Wednesday, peeps! I have a fun little card today which uses the sketch from Sunday Stamps--such a fun one, too!

A friend in our church knitting group is celebrating a birthday and my first thought was to use the knitting llama from the Zany Zoo set, but I remembered this older SU set called Hand Knit, so I pulled it out and got to work:

I am always teasing her because she tends to knit things in grays and other neutrals, and tell her she needs to knit and wear brighter colors!  So I chose some bright prints for my DSP, but nodded to her love of gray in the stamped images:

I did stamp the sentiment in the retired Regal Rose ink and I mounted the panel on a piece of Bubble Bath...just had to get some color in there!  And since I smudged my original inside sentiment, I stamped it again on a Spotlight on Nature circle diecut and adhered it on top of my booboo, adding some knitting needles beneath it:

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

CAS C&S536 Of The Earth

Happy Monday, peeps! This will be quick, as it is stamp club day! Love stamping with my girls! I needed a birthday card for our pastor's wife; she is an artist in her own right, and loves what I call the "minimalist" style, so when I saw the color challenge at Clean & Simple Colours & Sketches, it called to me!

She also loves to garden....her flowers are amazing....so I pulled out a couple of really old retired sets and made this CAS card:

The silhouette image is from the retired SU Of The Earth. My intention was to stamp, emboss the image with the Subtle embossing folder, then sponge with Pool Party ink and diecut it out.  I got ahead of myself and embossed first, and I was upset because I knew my silhouette would not have a clear image.  I tried it anyway and decided I liked the "distressed" look of it, so I went forward, adding a Pool Party and Lost Lagoon mat:

I stamped both the outside and inside sentiments with Lost Lagoon ink and it was done!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Christmas Wishes

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  I have a sweet vintage-themed card for you today; the challenge at 52 Christmas Card Countdown wants to see a fireplace, and the Color Hues challenge is blue and cream:

I used a shade of blue a wee bit darker---Misty Moonlight--and a stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms from many years ago when they were still around.  Here we go:

I stamped and diecut my image, added a scalloped border, then layered it on a piece of blue printed paper from Authentique's Alpine collection.  I added a circle diecut with an Artistic Outpost sentiment, added a little scalloped border under it and then for fun, a wee little diecut stocking:

And a Cornish Heritage Farms sentiment for the inside!

And since I used circles and squares on my card, I'm squeaking this in over at Just Add Ink:

Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

KCC689 Velveteen Rabbit

Happy Thursday, stamping friends!  I recently got this stamp from Unity because The Velveteen Rabbit was one of my all-time favorite stories from my childhood!  Such fond memories! And yet I don't think I ever read it to Dana or Cassidy...sadly!  Anyway, it's a sweet little retro image, so I stamped it on some Crumb Cake cardstock, gave it a bit of vintage shabbiness, and here we go:

I watercolored him in with Cherry Cobbler and Sahara Sand inks, then added a little brightness with a white watercolor pencil.  I masked him off, then stamped various vintage holiday sentiments lightly in the background and then used some Pecan Pie ink to add shading:

The sentiment is from the same set, diecut with a Stylish Shapes die and shabbied up as well; the "hanger" is a stitched strip from Reverse Confetti, and it is hanging on a piece of Very Vanilla velveteen ribbon.  The card base is Cherry Cobbler which was embossed with the Quilt Top embossing folder:

The inside was stamped with an old Cornish Heritage Farms Christmas sentiment:

The Krafty Chicks' challenge this week is Christmas, so I am going to enter this there!

Speaking of vintage, I follow Ms Bingle; she takes old pieces of jewelry and whatnot and creates new items from them; I happened to see this lovely mermaid and I know my sister likes kitschy, beachy retro stuff, so I checked out Ms Bingle's Etsy Shop thinking I might get it for her:

Yikes!  $300!  I told my sister I love her but not quite that much, LOL!  But while you're there, check out her items....it's a fun little trip!  Thanks for visiting today---enjoy it and be blessed!

Epic Guitar Birthday

Happy Tuesday, peeps! I have a quick card today for two challenges:  a past sketch from In(k)spire Me, which is celebrating their 12th anniversary, and the Global Design Challenge, which is looking for stripes! I chose the past sketch # 470 from IM for my sketch:

and Best Family Ever and the retired set Epic Celebration to make a birthday card for John's guitar-playing nephew!

SU's DSPs this year have a nice bold stripe, so I chose the Blueberry Bushel one and accented it with a strip of Blueberry Bushel cardstock which I embossed with a Diamondplate embossing folder! The guitar was also stamped in Blueberry Bushel and colored with Blends:

I added a couple of sentiments on the inside, and it's stamped and on its way!  Josh plays the guitar and sings in his church's praise band, so I hope he likes it!  Thanks for visiting today--enjoy it and be blessed!
