PP703 CAS Challenge from Claire x Three

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Claire is our Paper Players hostess this week, and it's a Clean and Simple week! Here's her prompt:

What a fun challenge!  I confess that it took me THREE tries to get a card that I was happy with for this challenge; first, I don't really have that many fruit stamps (although when I thought harder about it, I did have a few!). Second, one of them wasn't clean-and-simple enough for me, and third, I just wasn't altogether happy with it!  But here's the one that I finally ended up with:

My fruit is a basket of grapes from an older SU set called Provencal; I heat embossed it in black ink and watercolored the image in with inks and an aquapainter.  The swirly image is from Timeless Textures and the sentiment is from Harvest Home, all of which are also retired.

I stamped another swirly image on the inside and added a stamp from Day of Thanks:

My first Thanksgiving card!

This next one was my original card, and I just didn't feel it was CAS enough. I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and the colors from Colour Inkspiration:

Same image....did some watercoloring, paper piecing (because my watercoloring bled like crazy), some embossing and some diecutting:

\

The little "celebrate" tag is from Our Daily Bread Designs.

The final one was certainly CAS enough but it just didn't have any "oomph" to me:

Basic Beige background with a wee bit of decorative diecutting and Berry Burst image and sentiment (Unity). I love this sentiment, so I am sure I'll be able to use it for something!

SO....what will you create with our fruity CAS challenge?  There are lots of gorgeous fruit-related stamps out in our stamping world, so dig yours out and share it with us at the Paper Players, where you can see all the DT's submissions as well!   We'll be celebrating Cassidy's 14th birthday today, so I'm gonna run!  Thanks for popping in today, enjoy it and be blessed!

Colour Inkspiration #65 Evening Blossoms

Hi peeps!  I had the honor of winning a spot as a Guest Designer for Colour Inkspiration with this card!    So excited!

And today we're Blog Hopping along with a new "inkspiration":

I know the graphic is a bit hard to read; the colors are Merry Merlot, Blackberry Bliss, Gray Granite and Basic Black....very striking colors for sure!!  The blossoms in the photo reminded me of the ones in Colorful Seasons, which is really an awesome set, one I don't use enough!  So here we go:

I started with a panel of watercolor paper and diecut a partial circle, then did some light watercoloring with Gray Granite.  I positioned it back in the panel and stamped the branches in Basic Black and Gray Granite, and the florals in Merry Merlot and Blackberry Bliss:

I stamped and diecut a few of the larger flowers and added them to the edges, then at the bottom, stamped a few more simple images and a sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings.  My final addition was a Merry Merlot ribbon accent.  It all went on a Basic Black mat and a Blackberry Bliss card.  I added a Very Vanilla panel on the inside but I'll stamp a sentiment or write a note the next time I need a sympathy card.

Next on our hop is  Vicki Boucher!

The Colour Inkspiration challenge can be found on Facebook here.  I hope you'll play along!!  Thanks for popping in today!

There's always something funny on Wayne's cell!!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Follow Your Butterfly

Hi everyone!  Happy Friday!  I have a CAS/Layered card for a few challenges:

Image may contain: indoor

The sketch at Freshly Mades Sketches is lovely; the Card Concept features beautiful butterflies, and the Colour Inkspiration wants Rococo Rose, Seaside Spray and Gold...it says foil, but I used glimmer paper, hope that's okay!  So here we go:

My creative friend Vicky made a couple of cards using an older SU set called Touch of Nature.  She used the bird image (you can see them HERE), and I remembered that I had that set, so I got it out to see if I could recreate her birds....NOT!  But, there was a pretty butterfly in that set, so I stamped it in Stazon ink and watercolored it with Rococo Rose ink.  I already had these little DSP strips cut from a previous project, so all I had to do was to diecut some gold foliage and heat emboss a sentiment in gold on a narrow strip of Thick Whisper White cardstock:

I did add a little twirl of gold thread to create some "movement"....now this will go out in the mail to one of my customers!  And since the Card Concept likes you to define the style of card you create, I am calling this "layered clean and simple"....the base is very clean, but there are several small layers and embellishments!  Thanks for popping in today!

This week is Solanco (Southern Lancaster County) Fair week....it kicks off with a parade on Wednesday night, so Dana, Wayne and Cass went to that.  It was funny, I went into Quarryville on Tuesday morning to drop an entry off at the fairgrounds, and the sidewalks were lined with lawn and camp chairs....apparently if you don't stake out your claim early, you won't get a good view of the parade, LOL!  Dana said people started putting them out over the weekend!

There are lots of vendor booths with giveaways:

And since it's an ag fair, either ice cream or a milk shake is a MUST!

And for some reason, Cassidy really wanted to see the goats!

We'll be going tonight, it's going to be perfect weather and I can't wait!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Colour Inkspiration You Are Wonderful

Happy Friday, peeps!  I have been busy in my craft room this week, getting ready for an upcoming Christmas card camp and I barely have stamped anything else, but I did want to participate in Colour Inkspiration's latest color challenge, even though it REALLY was a challenge for me:

I think it was the Blueberry Bushel that threw me for a loop....but here we go:

I used a thick white cardstock base and embossed it with the Basketweave embossing folder, then added a layer of Pretty Peacock.  On top was a stitched panel on which I stamped some florals from Painted Harvest in Terracotta Tile and Petal Pink; I added some Blueberry Bushel speckles (just to get that color in there, LOL!), then I stamped some leaves with Pretty Peacock and tucked them between the mat and the stamped layer:

I stamped a sentiment from Rooted in Nature, also in Blueberry Bushel, and added a few speckles around it too; the final embellishments are some Iridescent Sequins and Polka Dot Tulle ribbon!

Definitely out of my comfort zone, but that's what challenges are for, right?!  So happy you stopped by today!  Now I am off to the pool for some R&R!

Here are a couple more birthday cards!

These are from Doris and Billie, I just love the colors in these:

And these beauties are from Linda and Wendy!  So clever and creative!

Thanks ladies!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

IB79 Luscious Strawberry

Happy Thursday, peeps!  Since I totally bailed out on Laurel last week, and her Inspired By challenge, I made sure I had this one done!  It was a little tough to photograph, hopefully you'll get the full effect of it! So here we go:

And here is her yummilicious prompt:

Mmmm, they look delectable!  The simple focal point of my circle fold card is an Altenew strawberry from their Beautiful You set.  I stamped it in Crumb Cake on a white stitched circle, and again in Blushing Bride on a piece of Blushing Bride.  I added some shading with a blender pen, a few gold "seeds", then fussy-cut it and adhered it to the white piece.  I stamped the calyx in Soft Suede on some retired Brushed Gold cardstock and fussy-cut it as well, then added some gold thread and a linen bow:

The card itself is Blushing Bride, and it was cut with the Circle Card die; I added a layer of heart-printed vellum and a few gold embellishments.  I diecut the sentiment from Gold Foil cardstock and adhered it to the back of the circle, adding a couple of punched hearts as well:

I stamped the back of the card with one of the leafy patterns from the same set, and heat-embossed a gold sentiment, also from the same set:

The color challenge at Colour Inkspiration this week is Blushing Bride, Whisper White, Crumb Cake and Gold, and these seemed to fit Laurel's pretty photo prompt perfectly, and the Just Us Girls challenge is to use a fun fold, and hopefully my circle fold card will work:

I hope our delicious strawberries will inspire you to create some incredible confection of a card!  Please share it with us at Inspired By so we can be inspired as well!  Thanks for popping in today!

So yesterday Cassidy came up with an interesting art project; she had me print out some images of children (this day they all happened to be boys), after which she cut out the heads, arms and legs, then drew new clothes for them and reattached the cut-off parts! It sounds rather weird, but it kept her busy for quite a while!  Here's the first one; she drew a new shirt for him, then some shorts and shoes!

By the end of the day, she had a baby, a toddler and two teenagers!!!  Hopefully she'll do some girls next time!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI200 Take Two

Hi everyone!  This Friday is a special day..it's As You See It's 200th celebration!  To celebrate, someone will be chosen to be our guest designer for challenge #202!  Woohoo!!  We also want to thank Amanda for doing such a great job designing our challenge graphics!!  Heather will be stepping in to fill her shoes, and she's doing an amazing job so far!!!  AND, we're saying goodbye to Tara as well!  So sad to see her go, her creations were always inspiring!

So here is our  current challenge prompt:  TWO!

Image may contain: 1 person, baby

I know the photo looks like a baby challenge....and if you want to make it that, that's okay too!  But there must be TWO of the same elements in your card!!  And if you know me, you know I like things in THREEs!!!  So this was a big challenge for me for sure!  First, I used the Little Red Wagon sketch, which I love, and some of the colors from the Colour Inkspiration photo:

I chose Pool Party, Flirty Flamingo, Grapefruit Grove and Smoky Slate for my birthday card, which uses the retiring set, Picture Perfect Birthday:

I stamped the bows in Flirty Flamingo and Grapefruit Grove (the Stamparatus was a great help), and the candles and sentiment in Coastal Cabana and Flirty Flamingo.  There was lots of embossing and fussy-cutting, as well as a few sequins and wee bit of Stella:

The inside also highlights a fun use of the sentiments and other cool elements featured in this awesome stamp set:

So please help us celebrate our 200th--you might be chosen as a guest designer for a future challenge!  Can't wait to see what you create!

You never know what this child is going to come up with!!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
