Just Add Colors with Blends

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  How about 'dem EAGLES?!  I was so worn out from the game I didn't even stamp a card for yesterday's post.  I did stamp some last night....well, mostly I colored!  I am playing around with the Blends so that I can demonstrate them confidently!  They are fun to use, I must admit.  I wish they had more colors, though!  The Just Add Color DSP is perfect...it's a little time consuming but it is quite relaxing!  I chose Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Calypso Coral, Pool Party and Crumb Cake for my colors on this sweet little card:

I added a few little polka dots and a sentiment from Better Together; the panel is matted with Soft Sky and Calypso Coral, then adhered to a Crumb Cake card base.  Easy peasy....there's a birthday sentiment on the inside and it will go out in the mail very soon!  This particular pattern just reminds me of the work of one of my favorite artists, Mary Engelbreit!  Thanks for popping in today!

A few happy Eagles fans!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Playing with Blends

Happy Thursday, everyone!  I don't have any challenge cards today but I do have a couple projects I made using SU's Blends...I am getting more comfortable with them and hope my customers will try them as well!

My first project is a little pizza box that I covered with Delightful Daisy DSP, on which I attached the butterfly from Beautiful Day, stamped in Craft White ink on Vellum cardstock and embossed with clear embossing powder.  On the underside of the butterfly, I colored the wings with the Calypso Coral light and dark Blends, and dried it quickly with my heat tool:

I attached the "amazing" diecut, cut from Powder Pink cardstock and sponged with Calypso Coral ink (a tip I got from Mary Fish), with glue dots.  I love that effect.  And did you know that you can color pearls with the Blends?!  Check out the "head" of the butterfly:

In the same color theme, I stamped the flower from the same set in Calypso Coral and the leaves in Old Olive on thick white cardstock, then colored them with matching Blends.  I did use the Light Pink Pirouette on the petals as well. After fussy-cutting them out,  I mounted them on a piece of Bundle of Love Specialty DSP, popping the flower up on dimensionals.  SOMEHOW I got green ink on the center of the flower, so I stamped another center, colored and cut it out and popped it up too!  I found  a little piece of Gold Foil cardstock that was left over from cutting a scalloped edge, so I used it as an embellishment, and again, added some pearls I colored with the Blends:

Another "amazing" diecut finished it off along with the "you" from Amazing You:

I'll have a couple more samples coming up soon!  Thanks for popping in!

The look you get when someone doesn't want her picture taken while she's practicing:

SIP133 Flying Home Celebration

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  It's time for a sketch challenge at Stamp Ink Paper!  This one was perfect for me to try out some new goodies, too!

No automatic alt text available.

I had been resisting purchasing SU's Blends, but I finally broke down and got them all!  I was intrigued by the image on the little pocket featured on the bottom right corner on page 41 of the Occasions catalog...it used one of the images of Flying Home (same page), masked and stamped twice, then colored in with Blends.  But the key was using a light colored stamp in which to stamp it so it looked very realistic.  So again, I was just "practicing" on a piece of scrap paper and I liked it so much that I used it on today's card:

I only used the top half of the stamp set, inking it up in Sahara Sand ink and coloring it with light and dark Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive Blends.  I diecut it with the Stitched Shapes die, and covered the bottom portion with another die cut, then created a banner with Peekaboo Peach and three layers of the "celebrate" from the Celebrate You thinlets, available through SAB.  I put a layer of Adhesive Sheet under each one, which made it very easy to adhere them together!  Here's a close-up:

The DSP is from Delightful Daisy, and I love how the leaves mimic the leaves in the stamped image!  A couple of pearls filled in the white space at the bottom of the circle nicely!

This is really a terrific sketch, and I hope you'll play along with us this week!  The DT has some amazing samples as well!  Check them out at Stamp Ink Paper!

Cassidy began her ukelele lessons yesterday:

She looks a little apprehensive, but Dana said she did very well!  Thanks for popping in today--enjoy your day and be blessed!
