AYSI220 Swan Colors

Hi peeps!  TGIF!  It's time for a new challenge at As You See It, and we have a fun color challenge for you:

Image may contain: text

I chose to apply my colors to this fun sketch from In(k)spire Me:

and here we go:

I got these amazing stitched flower dies from My Favorite Things a while back, so I put them to use with some cardstock in the challenge colors, mounting them on a white stitched rectangle panel and a plaid mat of Poppy Parade.  I added a wee sentiment so as not to detract from the flowers, and to add some fun, I stamped some polka dots on the Mango Melody leaves, as well as some enamel dots for the centers:

For the inside, I added a strip of the same gingham and a leftover flower, and a sentiment from Positive Thoughts:

What will you create with these colors?  I just can't wait to see!  Please share them with us at As You See It and check out what the DT created as well!  Thanks for popping in today!

Over the Moon Birthdays

Happy Saturday, peeps!  I had a little free stamping time yesterday after Day One of our yardsale, so I made a couple of cards using the CAS on Sunday color palette as well as the Time Out challenge:

I rarely make funny cards, and I don't know why....but the Over the Moon set with its cute little cows (and the fact that I grew up on a farm!) appealed to me, so this is my first card using it:

I went very CAS on this one, using one layer only of thick white cardstock so my Blends wouldn't bleed through so much.  I stamped little bossy in Memento black and using the challenge colors to color her in.  I also stamped the flower on some gingham DSP, and added a Blend-colored rhinestone to the center:

I made another card with the same colors because I LOVED them together, and this one was a little more stepped up, using some DSPs in Pool Party and So Saffron, and stamping the cow and another birthday sentiment from Beautiful Bouquet on a piece of regular white cardstock, then diecutting it out with a Stitched Rectangle die.

The die didn't quite reach around the flower, so I stamped it again on a scrap and colored it with a marker and added some Wink of Stella to the center, as well as to her boots:

I didn't add quite as much shading and detail with the Blends, but I did add some sequins and a ribbon, so it qualifies for the Just Add Ink challenge:

Thanks for popping in for a visit today!  Be sure to come back tomorrow for a new Paper Players challenge!

Here are some of the flowers on my patio this summer:

PP447 Happy Anniversary

Happy Sunday, peeps!  It's time for another Paper Players challenge, and we have a sketch this week from Jaydee:

What a great sketch, with TONS of possibilities!  My busy week got away from me and we decided to make a quick trip to the beach yesterday to clean out the last things from my dad's house, so I needed to make this card fast and simple!  I used some pretty DSPs from my stash of 6x6 papers, and added a sentiment from Beautiful Bouquet to celebrate our friends' upcoming anniversary:

The Stitched Nested Labels dies make for such an impressive focal point for a simple sentiment:

I love it when the papers do most of the work!!  And I hope you'll find some pretty papers with which to play along!  We always love to see your creations in the Paper Players gallery!  Check out what the rest of the DT did at the Paper Players blog!

Summer fun!

Jackie kept asking me to take a "selfie" of her, LOL!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

TMS507 Times Two

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  I've got a double-header for you today; I saw this sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches, and since I love things in threes, I knew I had to play!  So I made not one, but two cards with the sketch!  Here it is:

SU has outdone themselves with some of the new DSPs this year!  My first card uses some Mosaic Mood Specialty DSP; I cut out a few of the butterflies from the paper to use as the two outer elements of the sketch:

My Soft Suede frame was made with two Stitched Rectangle Dies, and I used a vellum panel behind it so that some of the beautiful DSP could show through.  Using my Stamparatus, Soft Suede and Versamark inks, and clear embossing powder, I heat-embossed a sentiment from Beautiful Bouquet in the center:

And since I had the leftover Soft Suede panel from my frame sitting on my desk, I used it to create another card, this time a note card, and I used some papers from the Garden Lane series:

I used two coordinating patterns, then diecut two little birds from a scrap of Soft Suede using the Botanical Tags dies.  I flipped one over, mounted them both on Whisper White circles, and stamped another wee little sentiment from Beautiful Bouquet on a third circle:

My final addition was a little Mint Macaron twine bow!  Love these colors and patterns!

I know this is not a very good picture, but on Sunday morning, we were eating breakfast and gazing out on the open field through the patio window, where we often see turkey buzzards or hawks.  I said to John, "I've never seen a turkey buzzard with a white head before!"...and got my binoculars, and of course, it was NOT a turkey buzzard, but a bald eagle!!  We have seen a couple of them over the last few years, but only one other time this close, and he was flying at that time! This one sat in the field for over an hour...I only wish I could have gotten a better shot of him!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Two Masculine Cards

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  Another crazy busy day and not much time to stamp yesterday, but I needed a couple of masculine cards, so when I saw the Stamp Ink Paper challenge (cute graphic, too):

as well as the In(k)Spire Me sketch/color challenge:

I got right to work, and created two cards; one a birthday, and one a get-well:

The challenge colors are Mango Melody and Granny Apple Green, but I found these papers in an Echo Park Fall is in the Air 6x6 pad, so I decided to go with them, adding touches of Crumb Cake and Early Espresso.  The birthday one uses the soon-to-be-retiring-I-thought-it-would-be-around-forever Lovely as a Tree stamped lightly in the background, with a leaf from Rooted in Nature and a sentiment from Beautiful Bouquet:

It's hard to see, but the leaf is stamped on some printed paper as well:

The get-well card uses Happy Tails and the matching punch, including a little Early Espresso heart:

And the inside sentiments are from Happy Tails and Apron of Love:

Need to pop these in the mail ASAP!  Thanks for popping in today!

Last night was Cassidy's third grade curriculum night, where family members come and visit the classroom and see what their children are learning.  Cassidy's class is learning about the thirteen colonies, particularly Jamestown, and so they put on a game show called "Who Wants to Be a Colonist?", although it was more like Family Feud, LOL!  Cassidy had a main part; she was Fred the Colonist, and she played against Dr Joe Jackson.  My friend Sharon just happened to vacation in Jamestown last week and brought home a hat for Cassidy to wear, my SIL had some boots that looked the part, and Grampy made her a corncob pipe:

She nixed the pipe once she got to school...they did grow tobacco in Virginia but I guess she thought it might not be a good influence on the other students, LOL!  Here she is, answering questions about the early colonies, and soundly beating Dr Joe:

All the kids did a great job and we learned a lot about the colonies!!!

(I love the name tag!!!)

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

IB71 Big Bold Flower

Happy Thursday, everyone!  Laurel has a pretty inspiration photo for us today at Inspired By; here's my take on it:

And here is her prompt...so pretty!

In hindsight, I wish I hadn't used a Basic Gray card base for my card...it makes the whole creation a bit dark, but it's already in the mail, so hopefully the recipient will enjoy it nonetheless!  I don't have many big flower images, the only one I could find was from Beautiful Day, so I stamped it in Stazon ink on thick white cardstock, added a wee bit of shading with Melon Mambo, and colored the leaves with Shaded Spruce, then cut it out:

I added some diecut florals from Beautiful Bouquets and the matching die, Bouquet Bunch, as well as some greenery from Botanical Tags, then liberally covered it with Wink of Stella!!  I had an extra diecut left, so I added it to my inside sentiment:

And the sketch I used is from Hand Stamped Sentiments:

Thanks for popping in today!  I hope you'll share your lovely floral creations with us at Inspired By this week!

15 minutes in the car, and she's plumb tuckered out!
