AYSI347 Ouch

Happy Friday, everyone!  Hope you have something fun planned this weekend!  It's time for a new As You See It challenge, and it's a recipe! They're always fun:

I needed a sort of get well card for an acquaintence.....she had a serious accident with a zero-turn mower and I won't go into a lot of detail (but you can use your imagination!).  But she has a very positive outlook and is optimistic about her ability to adapt, and I really wanted to send her a card!  So here we go:

This little turtle is from a 2019 set called Back on Your Feet, and the images are so cute, I'll never part with it!  I stamped this little guy in Stazon Black ink and watercolored him with three different colors of green ink!  He was diecut with a Stitched Shape die, and I added some embossing on the right panel with the Cute Crochet embossing folder along with a fun little border diecut using the Scalloped Contours dies:

I added a Natural Tones linen thread so I could attach my little tag:

None of the other sentiments in the sets seemed appropriate, so I added a CTMH sentiment on the inside:

The sketch I used comes from the FMS challenge this week by the talented Jen Mitchell:

And I am squeaking it in just under the wire at Retro Rubber, which is a tic-tac-toe grid; I chose the top row across of green, diecut and stitching:

Now, in case you were a little put off by my friend's accident, here's some happier news! The Philadelphia Zoo just had four endangered Galapagos tortoises hatch!!

They gave them the names of the Golden Girls: Dorothy, Rose, Blanche and Sophia!  And their parents are almost 100 years old!  You can read more about it here!  Fascinating story!

Anyway, I hope you'll play along with our fun recipe this week and create something with a zoo (or other) animal!  You can check out what all the designers created at the As You See It blog, and share yours there too!

FMS640 Ouch!

Happy Thursday, everyone!  Our congregation at church has had a rash of mishaps.....one young man was hit head-on by another car and broke both arms and legs; one older lady was on a treadmill at the local Y and fell off, dislocating both shoulders and breaking her nose and chin, and another older lady fell and broke her hip!  I had used up almost all my get-well cards, so when I saw the sketch at FMS, I thought it would be fun to use for my next card.  Here's the sketch:

I pulled out my trusty Back On Your Feet set, found some fun papers to use and went to work:

This card is really uber-simple! I diecut the plaid with the Radiating Stitches die and then found a scrap of Granny Apple Green polka-dotted paper that matched, so I stamped my turtle directly on to the DSP and fussy-cut him out.  A stamped the sentiments from the same set, diecutting them with an Ornate Frames die, and added a slightly larger one under Mr Turtle to make him stand out a bit better.

The sentiment was stamped in Old Olive on the inside.

I hope all my friends are back on their feet soon!  We miss them!  Thanks for popping in today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments for this is the duty of all mankind.  For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.  Escclesiastes 12:13-14

SC945 Get Well Card

Happy Saturday, peeps!  A quick post today as we are off to a wedding today!  At least the rain stopped and the sun is shining...but it's COLD!  Anyway, I wanted to make a get well card for a long-distance friend who recently had some surgery.  I saw a card using the Splitcoaststamper sketch for this week....I have not posted on SCS for YEARS....but I thought it would be fun to do!  So here's the sketch (sorry it's blurry!):

And I just realized that my sentiment is not in the right place!  Oh well!  Anyway, here we go:

I stamped poor Mr Turtle from the retired Back on Your Feet stamp set in Stazon black ink and watercolored him with various green inks, then added the "sigh" and glitter dots.  To give some coordination to the Dandy Designs DSP, I also added a mat of Fresh Freesia:

And here's the inside; can you tell what kind of surgery she had??

Thanks for popping in today!

Jameson and Sawyer got a new dog recently; Ranger is a German Shorthair pointer, and I don't think I've ever seen a dog with this coloring:

But those boys sure love him:

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI267 This is Knot Good

Hi stampers!  Happy Friday!  Time for a new As You See It challenge and it's a real pretty one:

The obvious choice would be to use a floral, but I wanted to think outside the box a bit, and I had not used Back on Your Feet for a long, long time, so here we go:

I began with the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches:

I stamped my giraffe in Memento black ink and colored him with Crumb Cake and Calypso Coral Blends, added a sentiment in Evening Evergreen, then diecut the image and matted it with an EE mat:

I used DSPs in Calypso Coral and Soft Succulent and just to add a wee bit more of the Crumb Cake, added an Ornate Frame diecut which was embossed and sponged with Crumb Cake ink.  The three little elements at the top were diecut with floral centers from the Pierced Blooms die; they kind of reminded me of the spots on the giraffe!!

Although these were not colors I would normally use together, I really like how this card turned out!  And since I have a friend who is recovering from you-know-what, and she LOVES giraffes, this is going out in the mail to her as we speak!  I hope you'll play along with our fun color challenge this week!  Check out what the AYSI Design Team created when you visit our blog to share yours as well!  See you there!

PP547 Get Better Soon

Happy Sunday, peeps!  I hope you're having a good weekend so far!  I had some fun with my stamping friends yesterday...always good to get together!  Today's Paper Players challenge is a sketch from Laurie! I do love sketches!!!  Here we go:

I wanted to make a card for a friend who's going through a rough patch, and Back On Your Feet hasn't seen much ink lately, so I got out my stamps, paper and ink, and here's what I came up with:

I just love the look on that poor turtle's face!  Anyway, I used some Soft Succulent cardstock and designer paper, using the Stitched Rectangle and Scalloped Contour dies, then decided to add a small Soft Seafoam mat to break up the color.  It matched my little turtle too; he was stamped in Stazon Black, then watercolored with Soft Seafoam and Soft Succulent inks, then fussy-cut and popped up:

I added a couple of sentiments from the same set and mounted it all on a Basic White card that was embossed with Tasteful Textile embossing folder.  Simple but cute!  I hope you'll play along with our sketch this week...it's so versatile and the design team has made some wonderful samples as well!  Check them all out at the Paper Players, then come play along with us!  Thanks for visiting today!

Here's a picture of Cassidy next to Chloe and Lucinda, two bronze statues of goats in the Children's Garden at Longwood.  You can click on their names to read about them...they're life-size! And they won't eat anything they're not supposed to!!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Ouch for CTS386

Happy Monday, peeps!  I have some people coming over to stamp today, so this will be quick!  I have a fun little card for a friend who recently went through some knee surgery!  I used the CTS sketch:

He is not a warm fuzzy kind of guy, but I think his four children will like this card:

I stamped, colored and fussy-cut the sloth and layered him on some Forever Greenery DSP, then added the simple sentiment!  Other than lining up the image to stamp again on the DSP so I didn't have to cut out the sloth's toenails, it was easy peasy!

I am quickly sharing another card for the FMS sketch:

Cassidy's friend Lee had a birthday this week so I made him this card (the boy LOVES tractors, 4-wheelers, anything with wheels!), using John Deere colors and some print paper I had in my stash:

The sentiment is from Many Mates; the dies are the new Stitched Triangles, and the numbers are from Little Numbers (ret).  Thanks for popping in today!  Now off to stamp with my friends!

And here's another little boy who loves anything with wheels....in this case, he had to ride Cassidy's little tricycle (much to his dismay) because he hasn't quite gotten the hang of a two-wheeler yet!  Give him time!

I wonder what he's thinking about???  Maybe the day he can ride that bike, LOL!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!
