PP490 Shine Like Stars

Happy Sunday, everyone, and Happy Mother's Day to all the moms, stepmoms and pet moms out there!  Celebrations will be a wee bit different this year, for sure!  But we will make do!

Claire is our Paper Players hostess and she has chosen a bright, vivid color palette for this week's challenge:

Such happy cheerful colors!  I had to think on them a while, but finally came up with a clean graphic design; it's not a CAS challenge, but I thought the colors would look good just the way the were:

You might recognize the sketch from Cas(e) This Sketch:

I've been sorting and organizing all my stamp sets this week, and when I saw the retired Banner Blessings had this verse from Philippians, I knew I wanted to incorporate it into the star in the sketch!

I cut a star using a die my sweet friend Debbie gave me, then stamped and fussy-cut the verse out of matching Melon Mambo ink.  I embossed the card with a star EF, added some stitched layers top and bottom, and it was done!

These colors can be used for an array of occasions, and I hope you'll play along with us!  Be sure to stop by the Paper Players blog to see what the design team came up with!  Thanks for popping in today!

The Card Concept Challenge #130 Irish Coffee

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  It's time for a new Card Concept challenge and Julie has chosen a fun "Irish Coffee" theme for us! I have to admit that as much as I love coffee, I've never had Irish coffee!  Hmmm...maybe I should remedy that, LOL!

I don't usually send out St Patrick's Day cards, but I do have a couple of friends whose birthdays are on the 17th, so I had them in mind when making this card:

First, I was inspired by all the colors of green in the photo; I used some miscellaneous DSP that was gifted to me for the background, and the horizontal panel is some retired Call Me Clover DSP from last year.  I stamped the plaid circle from Kind and Cozy also in Call Me Clover, and the coffee cup in Pear Pizzazz, the hearts in Call Me Clover and Mint Macaron.

I fussy-cut a saying from Banner Blessings to layer it on top, and added a pearl, a Call Me Clover bow and a little Pear Pizzazz ribbon banner.  All the layers and embellishments add up to a "Clean and Layered" card for the Card Concept challenge this week!  I hope you'll play along with our challenge too!  I will say that these challenges have made me realize I make the same style of card every time----I really need to try to change it up, LOL!  And since I seem to use the same style most of the time, I thought I would enter this in a new challenge called The Spot!  The first week is Designer's Choice!

Getting to Know You - Designer Choice Challenge #100

SO.....I hope you will check out what the design team has created at The Card Concept blog!  You'll be inspired!  Thanks for popping in today!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP346 A Friend Like You

Hello, everyone!  Laurie is our Paper Players hostess today with a sweet little sketch!  Check it out:

This is the time of the year that I am torn between playing with new goodies or trying to use up some retiring goodies that I still have LOTS of!  This Serene Scenery DSP is just so pretty, I admit to hoarding it a wee bit, so I forced myself to use this sweet dandelion scene along with the retired Banner Blessings and soon-to-be-retired Kinda Eclectic:

I stamped the sunburst in So Saffron, then the sentiment on top in Early Espresso.  I stamped it again on some scrap cardstock and cut out the little banner so that it would extend outside the edge of my square.  I added some mats, sequins, and burlap trim, then stamped a dear little sentiment from March's Paper Pumpkin below....I thought the two sentiments complemented each other nicely!

The design team has outdone themselves with this sketch...you can see all of their creations at the Paper Players blog!  I hope you will play along with the sketch and use some of your new--or old--goodies too!

So....we went to a wedding Friday night; it was in a barn, but it was very nicely done.  I am still trying to learn how to do a selfie, LOL!

Then bright and early Saturday morning, we did our little town's Memorial Day parade; John marched behind the color guard:

Then participated in the 21-gun salute with some of the other veterans:

Then, all afternoon, we started dismantling the kitchen....the fridge and stove are out in the garage, the cupboards are bare, and today, the rest of it will be gone...ready for the wall to come out!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

SSC114 In Every Thing Give Thanks

DSCF3022

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!  I hope you have plans to share time with your loved ones, either friends, family or both!  I am looking forward to spending time with John’s family this year….and it is my dad’s birthday so hopefully I’ll get to say “Happy Birthday” to him as well!

Today’s quick card uses the sketch from Sunday Stamps, which happens to be my favorite sketch, turned upside down:

I knew I wanted to use Banner Blessings for my card, which is a combination thank you/Thanksgiving card!  I used some papers from Farmers Market and stamped my verse in Rich Razzleberry on Very Vanilla, (although I think I should have used Blackberry Bliss):

My simple embellishments are a few stitched leaves (Lawn Fawn) and some crochet trim!

Another Banner Blessings

DSCF2084

Happy Monday, peeps!  I have a quick card to show you today using last week’s Try Stampin’ On Tuesday’s sketch.  Here is the sketch:

I really wanted to make another Halloween/fall card, but I needed some encouragement cards, and since I already had Banner Blessings on my desk (are there really people out there who put their stamps away AS SOON as they are finished with them?  I didn’t think so!), so it seemed perfect.  Here ya go:

I also used this animal print DSP from the Go Wild paper stack, which is really outside my comfort zone and seems a little incongruous for this set, but I went with it!  The vertical panel is the Watermelon Wonder Color Me Irresistible DSP, which has these cool shiny polka dots on it.  I stamped my sentiment on vellum, then added a tiny little piece of white cardstock behind the banner so that the verse would show through better.  My circular piece is stamped with the sunburst from Kinda Eclectic:

It’s really a simple card, but definitely not my usual style!  Thanks for visiting today!

MTS091 and CASology165 Joyful Heart

DSCF2070

Happy Friday, peeps!  A quick post today, and a quick card using the Banner Blessings set that has barely gotten any ink!  Here’s my bright, joyful card:

I used some Schoolhouse papers; stamped the sentiment in Pacific Point ink and colored it in just a wee bit with a blender pen and Soft Sky ink before cutting it with the banner die from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlet set, then added some stars!  The sketch is from Match The Sketch:

as well as the Casology challenge this week, which is to use circles!  Thanks for popping by!

Tonight is soccer practice:

Paper Players 256

DSCF1126

Happy Sunday, peeps!  It’s time for another Paper Players challenge and our hostess Jaydee has a fun one!

I love making square cards…I usually make mine 4 1/4” square so they still fit inside a regular envelope!  Today, my card uses the colors from Just Add Ink:
and I used a new-to-me photopolymer set called Banner Blessings as well as a retired Banner Blast set:

I embossed my Crumb Cake base with the Large Polka Dot EF. I stamped my sentiment in Bermuda Bay and embossed the sides of my horizontal panel with the Stripes EF.   Then I stamped the banners in the challenge colors, punching them out with the Banner punch:

You can see just a wee bit of another row of solid banners peeking out from behind!  Finally, I added a faux button and some Bermuda Bay baker’s twine for some interest  .And since this uses stripes and dots, I am entering it in The Male Room’s Stripes and Spots challenge this week as well!  Hope that little bow of baker’s twine doesn’t seem too “unmasculine”!  I need several thank you cards, so I might just do a few of these!

I hope you are challenged to make a square card this week with us too…the DT has some fabulous samples!  Check them out:
This is what I’ve been doing in some of my “spare” time:

Unfortunately, it leaves THIS in its wake:

(Not including the griddle from breakfast, LOL!).  ARGHHHH!  But I do find that little "plink" sound they make when they seal strangely satisfying!  Reminds me of my mom canning on the farm when I was a little girl!   Fortunately I have this too:
