RRCB151 Black, White and Red

Hey there peeps!  It's time for a new Retro Rubber Challenge where we use stamps that are at least a year old!  Here's our awesome challenge for this week:

I love black, white and red; I think it's a very elegant color combo, but I went in a different direction this week!  My sweet friend Colleen inspired me to pull out my Apron of Love (2018) bundle for today's card. She is always a great source of inspiration (as well as new purchases!) for me! Check it out:

This bundle, like so many, was only available for such a short time that I just never got to use it to its full potential!  The set of dies is chock full of fun little doodads, so I was able to use some of them on my card today!  I started by printing out a digital black gingham in a small check and diecutting the apron from it.  I just continued to add embellishments like the red-trimmed pocket, the hearts, the little banners and the silver scissors:

I used a Tasteful Labels die to diecut the sentiments:

and I used the Perfectly Wrapped (2017) for the inside:

I mounted everything on a stitched rectangle of Basic Gray and adhered it to my Whisper White card front! I just love how this turned out!  Thanks, Colleen for the inspiration!   And since this will be going to a friend, I am entering it at Always Fun Challenges, where their challenge is to make a card for a friend!

I hope you'll play along using our inspiration photo as well!  Just be sure to tell us how old your stamps are...give those older ones some love!  Thanks for popping in today!

Here are a few more pix from the Valentine project:

Stay tuned for more!

Club Projects

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  My schedule is all out of whack, it's just been too busy around here!  Yesterday was club day and since I didn't have a chance to stamp something new, I thought I would share our projects!  The first one uses the Botanical Bliss stamp set and matching die, Botanical Tags.  I had an idea in my head about using the bird tag on a card without using it as a tag, so this is what I came up with:

The cardstock size is 4 1/4" x 7, and I partially scored it at 3 1/2" but didn't fold it.  I lined up the die so that the bottom cutting portion was along the score line, die-cut it and carefully popped out the pieces, then folded it so the diecut portion stood up.  It still fits into a standard-sized envelope.  We added some Share What You Love DSP, and stamped sentiments and elements on the inside:

We also colored rhinestones with Blends!  Our second project was an Apron of Love candy treat, which was a CASE from my friend, Cindy Brumbaugh.  You can see her wonderful YouTube tutorial here.  I tweaked mine a little, using some retired ribbon for straps; each person used whatever stamp they preferred from the Apron of Love set:

Thanks for popping in today!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Paper Players 440 Best Friends

Hi stampers!  Yay, it's Sunday and time for another Paper Players challenge where the talented Jaydee is our hostess with a wonderful theme:

At first, I thought I didn't have many "friends" stamps, but as I looked, I realized I had several sentiments...not so many images, but these little buddies from the retiring Bella and Friends were perfect:

I stamped them on thick Very Vanilla cardstock and colored them with SU Blends, then die-cut them with the Stitched Rectangle die.  My sentiment is from Apron of Love, and I added a few little hearts from the Be Mine dies:

I stamped some additional sentiments (Stitched All Around) on the inside, and added a few more hearts:

My layout is very loosely based on this week's Freshly Made Sketches sketch; my image was pretty big, so the sketch sort of got lost in the interpretation, but it is there!  I used some retired Pretty Petals DSP for my background....love that stuff!

And I just realized that I didn't put the sentiment where it belonged...sigh.  That's what happens when you try to do something from memory!  Oh well!  I hope you'll play along with us at the Paper Players this week, and meanwhile, check out what the DT did as well:

Cassidy recently got her green belt!!!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

FMS385 Thinking of You

Happy Saturday, peeps!  Just a quick little post today before my stamping friends arrive, sharing a card I made with the FMS sketch for this week:

My card is a note card, which SU sells pre-cut and with envelopes...a great time-saver!  Plus the paper is Thick White cardstock, which makes it great for embossing and watercoloring!  I stamped the floral from Botanical Bliss in Stazon on a scrap of white paper, watercolored it and fussy-cut it out, then adhered it to a piece of Grapefruit Grove DSP and a strip of Gingham Gala DSP:

I did something I haven't done for a long time, which is heat emboss a background; there is a sweet little solid-image floral in that same set which I stamped in Craft White ink randomly on the card, then heat-embossed it with white embossing powder!  It gives a pretty little subtle background and is quick and easy to do on this size card!  I finished it off with a sentiment from Apron of Love:

Thanks for popping in today!  Be sure to come back tomorrow for another Paper Players challenge!

Thought I would share a few more cards I received in the mail:

This little cutie is from Sandy:

And another sweet one from Linda; the yellow cardstock is shimmery--so pretty!

A beautiful one from Teri:

And one of my favorites from Ruth Ann:

And a fun one from Kathy; Cassidy said "Grammy, doesn't she know that mooses don't hatch from eggs?"  LOL!!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

FMS376 and CASCSC309 A Little Hello

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  Well, it is snowing here to beat the band, and I am waiting for my sister to arrive; she's flying up from SC and driving from Philadelphia!  Yikes!  I am praying her all the way!  I did have a little stamping time this morning since Cassidy had no school, and I made a card using the colors from CAS Colours and Sketches as well as the cute little sketch from Freshly Made Sketches:

I am still working through using all my current SU stamps, and this one uses Apron Love!  Haven't gotten that one inky in a while!  I cut the apron from the Gingham Gala DSP, added some Daffodil Delight straps and a little white and So Saffron pocket:

I stamped the flower stems in Pear Pizzazz and attempted to emboss the flowers in white, but I neglected to brush away some of the powder from the stems...hope the recipient doesn't mind, LOL!

I did outline the flowers with a Daffodil Delight marker just to make them stand out a bit more!  I added a couple of die-cut hearts, an embossed bottom panel and a sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings!  I really like this fresh, springy color combo!

On President's Day, our retired interim pastor invited Cassidy and Dana over for lunch....Pastor Dan is so good with Cassidy, he is a blessing to all of us!

Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

IB 34 Rustic Summer

Howdy, peeps!  I can say "howdy" because our Inspired By Challenge today is called "Rustic Summer"!  Does this seem rustic to you?  Hope so!

And here is Laurel's lovely prompt:

I know her flowers are dandelions, but this Painted Harvest sunflower was the closest I could find!  I said earlier this week that yellow was not a color I was drawn to, and here I've used it twice so far!!  I stamped the flower in Pineapple Punch and Crushed Curry, fussy-cut it out and sponged the edges so the color went right to the very edge!  The leaves were stamped in Old Olive and Garden Green and I clustered them behind the flower, then added some glimmer dots to look like dew:

I am totally enamored of the new Buffalo Check background stamp; here I stamped a piece of Whisper White with Garden Green ink, angling it on the stamp to get a diagonal plaid.  The sentiment, because I never have enough get-well cards, is from Apron of Love, and it was diecut with the Stitched Labels framelit die:

A piece of woodgrain paper provided a lovely "rustic" background!  This card just makes me happy, and I hope it will cheer someone up when it goes out in the mail!  I hope as well that you'll play with our challenge at Inspired By and share your creation with us as well!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Cassidy told me the other day she only has to wait eight more years until she can drive!!!!  Yikes!  She is getting a head-start by helping Mommy fill her gas tank, LOL! (No worries, Mommy was right there supervising!)

IB17 Pocket Full of Posies

Happy Thursday, peeps!  Thursdays are always fun because it's Inspired By day!  Laurel's challenges have really gotten me using aprons and flowers lately!  Here's today's creation using the Apron Builder die and the flowers from Jar of Love:

And here's Laurel's prompt:

Image may contain: text

I almost used the same Altenew set I used for my recent wedding card, but I chose to go with something a little brighter, so I stamped the flowers in various shades and tucked them into the pocket of a wee little canvas apron!  SU sold canvas sheets a while back and I have quite a few left, so I thought it would be fun to make my apron from that, and I added some thick baker's twine for the tie:

I didn't have a stamp that read " A Pocket full of Posies", so I did a computer-generated one, printing it on a scrap of DSP and cutting it out with a banner die:

I mounted everything on some retired SU DSP and a mat of Pool Party; I love the combination of Crumb Cake and Pool Party!

I hope you'll meander over to the Inspired By blog to see what the other DT members created!  I hope you'll  be inspired to create and share something yourself!  And thanks for popping in today!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

IB14 Cozy Cup

Happy Thursday, everyone!  Hope you're having a good week so far!  I've been out of my stamp room, busily painting and freshening up our downstairs bathroom; it's not done yet, but at least it's now usable!!  I did manage to pop into my room and make a card for Laurel's latest Inspired By challenge!  It uses a piece of Color Theory DSP, which has been greatly neglected; this one happens to in shades of blue:

And here's the prompt from Laurel:

This one threw me for a bit of a loop--so many possibilities!  In the end, I went with the blue and white and a cup of coffee, LOL!  This Coffee Cafe set is so fun, but I tend to want to stamp it in green and brown to match the Coffee Break DSP that complements it!  So I really had to stretch to stamp it in Dapper Denim and Marina Mist! I also embossed the Color Theory paper with the (retired) Modern Mosaic embossing folder and used a sanding block on it to give it some texture.  The "friend" stamp is from Apron of Love; the little sunburst border is from November 2017's Paper Pumpkin.  I also added the Corduroy Ribbon from the current mini catalog, some retired sequins and white baker's twine.  Oh, and I almost forgot, it's hard to see....the edge of the card is embossed with the Cable Knit embossing folder, to mimic that beautiful blanket in the photo!

And on the inside, I added another little strip of the DSP and some coffee rings from Timeless Textures:

I hope you'll come along and play with us at Inspired By!  You'll definitely be inspired by the DT's creations as well!

Cassidy and Dana bought me an orchid for Easter..it's so pretty!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
