PP759 Spooky Trick or Treat

Hello stampers!  Time for a new Paper Players challenge, and Elizabeth is our hostess for this month's color theme!  It's a doozy:

At least it was a doozy for me, as purple is a color I rarely use! I like it, I just don't use it! And normally I try to think outside the box a bit for color challenges, but I decided to embrace the Halloween feel to these colors and go for it!  Here we go:

To be honest, these colors on this card are NOT at all true-to-life!  For some reason, Lemon Lime Twist just does not photograph very well...my card is much brighter that what it looks here!  I stamped some Papertrey images in Memento Black ink, diecut them with a postage die and did a bit of sponging around the edges.  The images were colored with Copics and mounted on a piece of purple paper that has little skulls on it---very faint, but they're there:

I added a black glimmer paper diecut sentiment and some stars, and this sentiment on the inside; I just wish the color was better, but hopefully you'll get the idea:

Obviously, you don't have to go with the Halloween theme using these colors--if you visit the Paper Players blog, you'll see that the Design Team has come up with some other wonderful ways to use these hues! I hope you'll come play along too!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS664 Welcome Baby

Happy Friday, everyone! Hope you had a fine Thanksgiving, if you're in the US! We'll be decorating our church this morning for Advent, so this will be quick!

Our neighbor's son (who is also our neighbor) and his wife just had their first baby, so I used the FMS sketch to make them a card.  Here's the sketch:

Of course, since there were three panels, I just had to play along!  Here we go:

I looked through my stash of retired DSP and picked out some pastel patterns for the vertical panels, and I pulled out an oldie but goodie teddy bear from Every Little Bit:

Another oldie, And Many More, provided the sentiment!

Cute sketch for a cute little baby!  Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

KCC539 Sunflower Happy Birthday

Happy Thursday, peeps!  Happy Christmas eve!  This is the fourth week of guest designing for the Krafty Chicks!  This week's theme is All Occasions with Lori as our hostess!
I took this opportunity to make another birthday card!  I used some bright sunny papers from Flowers for Every Season and the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set and matching punch:

I stamped the floral image in Bumblebee ink, then used a sponge and a blender pen to lightly color in the leaves and flowers before fussy-cutting it out:

I stamped and colored the jar, then punched it out with the jar punch and added a little gingham ribbon.  It all got mounted on the DSP layer with a vellum oval and a stitched banner for the sentiment, which is from the retired set And Many More:

The sketch I used is from Sunday Stamps:

I hope you'll find some time this week (maybe after the holiday?) to play along with our challenge!  Any occasion is a good occasion to stamp!  Check out what all the designers did at the Krafty Chicks challenge!

Finally, some cookies!

This little guy looks too festive to eat!  I'll let you know how they taste when we visit tomorrow!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!  Merry Christmas Eve!

"So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.  He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child."  Luke 2:4-5

Hello Peeps

Happy Saturday!  I have a couple more cards today; this one is another CAS one, using the CAS(E) This Sketch sketch, way back from its very onset:

As I was laying in bed yesterday morning, this little set, Basket Bunch, popped into my mind and I thought how cute it would be in this layout!  So here we go:

All the peeps and bunny were stamped in Stazon, colored with Blends, and mounted on a small stitched circle die from Stitched Labels:

I pulled out a couple more oldies for the inside:

Jingle Belles has a Fa-La-La challenge, which is to use music on your card, and I have had some of this musical DSP for a long time, and never knew quite how to use it:

I mounted it on a cardstock of Crumb Cake after sponging the edges, then added a wide organdy ribbon, a sentiment from O Holy Night (Papertrey), stamped on Very Vanilla, and I added some glimmer paper greenery:

A good trick for diecutting glimmer paper using intricate dies is to peel the backing off the back of the glimmer paper.  I also use a Precision Base Plate....the combination of those two really make the paper pop out easily!  This uses the sketch from Inspire Create:
Thanks for popping in today!!  Be sure to come back tomorrow for a new Paper Players sketch, too!

Paper Players 334 Hippity Hoppity

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Time for another Paper Players challenge!  Sandy is our fabulous hostess this week with a fun, easy challenge for us:

My only problem was, which die to use?!  I just received these Pretty Pink Posh scallop dies after seeing my friend Lisa use them all the time!  And since we're coming up to Easter, I pulled out some of my all-time favorite stitched dies from Lil'Inker, the bunny and bow:

Isn't he cute?  I simply diecut him from some Whisper White cardstock; the background is from Graphic 45 and the frame is So Saffron.  I hand-cut the grass:

And the sentiment is one I luckily remembered I had, from the And Many More set, stamped in Mint Macaron.  The little eggs are from Itty Bitties!  And I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches:

And finally, this pretty sentiment from the Occasions catalog, from the set called Suite Sentiments, was stamped on the inside:

Thanks for stopping by today!  Be sure you check out what the DT did as well:

Last week was Dr Seuss Week at Cassidy's school and Wednesday was Wacky Wednesday!  She wanted to go to school with wacky hair, so Dana got the spray they used at Halloween and "decorated" her hair:

Yep!  She had pink, purple and green hair!

Have a blessed day!

Orange Is For Boys...And Girls!

Hi everyone!  I have two cards today....one for a boy and one for a girl!  Cassidy does not like orange--she says it is a "boy" color, although she is more tolerant of it than she used to be, LOL!  Anyway, I was going through some of my DSP scraps, and found some that I thought would work well with this week's Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch:

My friend Teri recently gifted me with this little skateboard stamp, and I paper-pieced it, used a sentiment from the Hello Sunshine Paper Pumpkin kit, then stamped a few little stars, and it was done:

I am also entering this in Little Red Wagon's Mainly Manly challenge!

My girl card is a baby shower card for a friend of Dana's....not a traditional color for a little girl, but I wanted to use Linda's sketch from Freshly Made Sketches:

I am trying to use some of my older supplies, and both of these embossing folders were some of the very first I purchased when I got my Cuttlebug!  I thought they were cute with the little duck from Every Little Bit....hence the choice of orange and yellow for my colors!

The duck is also paper-pieced and shaded with a marker; the sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.   As an afterthought, I added a button from last year's SAB offering, tied with a little yellow floss:

And here's the inside:  sentiment is from And Many More, and the umbrella is also from Every Little Bit:

The weather has been incredible for this time of the year...it's still technically winter and the temps have been in the 70s!  It's perfect for some chalk artwork on the driveway:

I was touched that she drew a church!

Enjoy your day!

FMS207 Thank You

DSCF2263

Happy Thursday, everyone!  The beautiful fall weather prompted me to make this card for the Freshly Made Sketches sketch:

I already had some of this whimsical Into the Woods DSP, so I cut some panels to fit the sketch, then created a pumpkin as my focal point.

LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings Embossed Pumpkin Stampin Up And Many More

Using the extra-large oval punch, I punched out three ovals from Pumpkin Pie, then ran them through the Arrows embossing folder.  I sponged the edges and layered them to make my pumpkin!  I used the “give thanks” sentiment from And Many More, isolating the “thanks” with my Early Espresso marker to make my little tag:

As a little extra embellishment, I cut out an acorn from my scrap and popped it up atop the pumpkin!  Thanks for the visit today!

Cassidy helped me  with some more decorating, including a vintage Halloween noisemaker…she LOVED making noise with it!
