Club Projects

Hello friends, happy Friday!  I am sharing today the two projects my stamp clubs made for this month!  Here we go:

The first project uses the Butterflies & Flowers Decorative Masks (stencils), which sadly are backordered until the first part of April.  We used Blending Brushes to color in the layers in shades of Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody and Poppy Parade, then the leaves in Granny Apple Green:

A sentiment from Easter Friends, some speckles from Quiet Meadow and a few sequins finished it off before mounting it on a Granny Apple Green card base!

Here's another one, same design, but with Mango Melody and Pumpkin Pie!

Our second project used the Ombre Gift Bags, but we stepped them up a notch by turning them into a paper bag shape and decorating them with the little duck from Easter Friends:

It's quite easy to transform these flat bags.....simply score along the two sides and bottom at 3/4", just taking care not to score too hard so as not to tear the bag.  Here's one I started:

Fold each section and score with a bone folder, then put your hand inside the bag to open it out and begin to shape it.  You'll see what I mean when you do it!  The outer edges of the bottom of the bag will form two little triangles; glue these down (I put two acrylic blocks inside the bag and press down to get a good seal).

Fold the sides inward on the score lines, and you have a bag!

Just a heads-up...decorate your bag after you score the sides but before you begin to form it...much easier that way!  We colored Mr Ducky with some Daffodil Delight ink, added a sentiment from A Wish For Everything, diecut the Shimmery White panel with the Scalloped Contour die and then added a butterfly from Positive Thoughts.  We put some Easter candy inside and tied it shut with some Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon:

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Dana shared her sunset picture with me yesterday:

"The wicked draw the sword and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose ways are upright.  But their swords will pierce their own hearts, and their bows will be broken."  Psalm 37:14-15

SS273 Happy Valentine's Day

Hi peeps, happy Monday!  This will be short and sweet as I have my stamp clubs meeting today!  I actually had this card almost completed when I saw the sketch at Sunday Stamps:

I had gotten the Dotty Hearts embossing folders back when the catalog was new and couldn't wait to use them!  This sketch worked great to show them both!  I embossed the two panels in Blushing Bride and added some Pool Party mats:

I am trying to make use of the stamps I already own instead of buying new ones all the time, so I used the versatile A Wish for Everything for the sentiment along with a little heart from Banner Year.  It was diecut with a Stitched So Sweetly die.  I added some Blushing Bride ribbon behind it, and I wish now I had added some bling to ether side of the sentiment....I guess I can still do that!

And I just love this sentiment from Eden's Garden:

It's not really a Valentine sentiment, but I love it anyway!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

"'For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed', says the Lord, who has compassion on  you."

TTTC96 Showers of Love

Hi stampers!  My second post of the day, and it's the first challenge of the year for Team X at the Tic Tac Toe challenge!! It's my turn to choose the elements for the board, and here's what I came up with:

I chose the middle row across of red, dry embossing and designer paper, but it hits a few more squares as well!  So here we go!

I hadn't inked up the cute Under My Umbrella set for a while, and I thought a red plaid umbrella would make a fun Valentine card!  I stamped the umbrella on the SAB DSP Berry Delightful and added a floral accents, colored with Blends and fussy cut:

I realized that my reds don't really match, but hopefully the recipient won't notice too much!  I extended the umbrella handle a bit and added a little bow at the "junction", then mounted it all on a panel that had been embossed with the Falling Petals EF (which look like hearts to me!) and added a sentiment at the bottom, also embellished with some flowers and bling!  It all went on a Basic Black mat and a Real Red card base.

And here's the inside:

It was a lot of fun to ink this set up again!  I hope you'll find some inspiration from our Tic Tac Toe board and play along this week!  Can't wait to see what you create!

Golden Fall Cards

Happy Monday peeps!  I have two stamp clubs today so I am happy to be seeing a few of my stamping friends!  I wanted to share a couple of cards using the Gilded Autumn Specialty DSP; somehow I missed the amazing gold-foiled pumpkin paper, as well as the speckled crumb cake-shaded paper on the opposite side!  Wow, it's so pretty!  The TGIF sketch challenge was perfect for highlighting some of the papers:

So here we go:

I began with a stitched rectangle of Very Vanilla, then diecut two gold stitched scalloped rectangles from the Brushed Metallic Gold cardstock and adhered them behind the Vanilla rectangle. I added the DSP, then to hide the "seam" between the two scallops, I added a sentiment from Beautiful Autumn and added a gold banner behind it.  I stamped and fussy-cut a leaf from the same set and layered it underneath and added a bow of Gold Thread:

While I had that beautiful DSP on my desk, I made another card, a little simpler this time:

I used a Crumb Cake base, the pretty pumpkin paper, and added a sentiment panel with "happy" from A Wish for Everything, "fall" diecut from the Metallic Gold Brushed cardstock, and a pumpkin from Banner Year.  The pumpkin is sparkly with Wink of Stella...so cute...I just wish you could see it in the photo!

Nice to have some fall cards in my stash!  Thanks for visiting--enjoy your day and be blessed!

RetroRubber 142 Halloween Sketch

Happy Tuesday, stampers!  Are you ready for a wee bit of Halloween?  RetroRubber has a fun sketch for you to play with this week!  Check it out:

Image may contain: text that says 'Retro Rubber Challenge #142 SENT SENTIMENT August 25, 25,2020 September 4, 2020, sketch challenge #rrcb142'

I remembered that I purchased some fun Halloween papers from Papertrey last year, so I went to look for a "retro" Halloween stamp set to use with them!  Spooky Cat is from 2017, and that fun kitty seemed perfect for the rectangular panel! So here we go:

I stamped the cat in Terracotta Tile ink and punched it out with the matching punch, then mounted it on a Stitched Rectangle in Basic Black:

I cut strips and panels of the PTI papers, layering them a little askew for fun!  The sentiment is also from the same stamp set, diecut with the Tasteful Labels dies. I also added some glimmer stars in black and orange:

I stamped a sentiment from A Wish for Everything on the inside and added a wise old owl:

I hope you'll play along with our challenge this week!  This sketch is one I love!  Remember that your stamps must be at least a year old and you must tell us how old (approximately) they are! Can't wait to see what you create!  Check out what all the designers did at the Retro Rubber blog and give them some love, too!

CAS Father's Day

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  I have a really quick card I created late last night....not my most stellar effort, but guys are not up for lots of layers and frills, so it's all good!  It fulfills a couple of challenges:  TGIF wants the color palette of Bumblebee, Crumb Cake and Night of Navy; Always Fun Challenges want to honor dads; and Less is More wants to see borders:

I don't have my Bumblebee ink pad yet, so I resorted to using some of the papers from Flowers for Every season, Night of Navy ink and cardstock, and a Crumb Cake base:

I stamped a sentiment from A Wish for Everything on a Crumb Cake card base, then ran it through the Pinewood Planks EF.  I diecut two borders from Night of Navy cardstock, using a die from Nature's Thoughts, and also cutting two feathers from Nature's Thoughts in Bumblebee DSP:

I wanted the feathers to go in different directions, so one is embossed and one is debossed, because I cut it from the opposite side of the DSP, then turned it over.  I gave both of them some sponging for definition and added some retired Baker's Twine to "tie" them together.  On the inside, I stamped the remainder of the sentiment (crooked of course) and a feather from Positive Thoughts:

Of course, both our dads are gone, but maybe I'll send this to Wayne....he is a hero in my book!

Cassidy likes to pick asparagus from my tiny little patch....she's been doing this since she was little....too bad she doesn't like to eat it!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

IB116 Hello Spring

Happy Thursday, peeps!  Hope your week is going well....you're calm and collected, LOL!  It's time for a beautiful Inspired By challenge today, I just love this one:

No photo description available.

I had already made this card for my club girls, and since it's very springy, I decided I would share it here:

It highlights the Pleased as Punch DSP that SU has now, which is really cute, and matches several punches they have available!  I chose to fussy-cut my tulips, which are very easy to do, and I created a basket with the new Coastal Weave embossing folder (directions below)!  I used a sentiment from Fable Friends, lots of Layering Ovals dies, and a sentiment from A Wish for Everything for the inside:

So here are the easy directions for the basket.  I began by inking up the inside front of the Coastal Weave embossing folder...it's the side that has the SU logo on it.  Just tap your ink pad (in this case, I used Soft Suede) across the folder, or if you prefer, you can use a sponge brayer.  It does get a little messy, so make sure you wipe the ink off your fingers before handling cardstock!  Place a quarter sheet of cardstock inside the embossing folder and put it through your diecutting/embossing machine.  I used Crumb Cake for mine....you'll get a piece that looks like this:

Take three oval dies of your choice and lay them out like this; for mine, I used the largest Layering Ovals dies, then the next smaller one and one that nested nicely inside it.  The larger one creates your basket bottom; the others create your handle.  You can choose any size die you like if you'd like to make a smaller basket.  I adhered the handle with some glue dots and then arranged my flowers in a pleasing way!  You can sponge the edges with a dauber for more definition, but I left mine naked!  Easy and fun!  I hope you'll try it out as well!

I hope you'll find some inspiration with our Inspired By challenge this week!  Please share them with us so we can enjoy them as well!

I wanted to share a photo of my great nephew, Jameson.  Our family has a friend whose son had a serious aortic root operation due to his Marfan syndrome.  We've all been praying for him, and he's doing well and home from the hospital, but my niece posted this photo of Jameson, spontaneously praying for their friend while they were driving in the car:

This little boy is FOUR YEARS OLD!  Never underestimate how your behavior influences your children...if they see you praying, they will pray too!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

GDP230 Happy Easter

Hi everyone!  I have an Easter card to share today, using the Global Design Project sketch:

I am not 100% happy with this card, but sometimes that happens, right?  So anyway, here we go:

I used the little bunny from Fable Friends, stamped in Stazon and watercolored, and put him on a stitched circle with a little grassy background.  The Bird Ballad DSP was matted with some Balmy Blue cardstock, and I used a couple of banners for the horizontal pieces, stamped with sentiment from A Wish for Everything.

The white background looked a little plain, so I stamped a couple of butterflies on it in Balmy Blue and Blushing Bride!  Isn't he a cutie?  Thanks for stopping by today!
Cassidy got a new hairdo this weekend!  Wish my hair would grow long enough to have this style!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI218 Speedy Shades of Brown

Happy Friday, peeps!  I hope you have some fun things planned...at least maybe some stamping?!  We have an awesome Speed Stamping challenge for you today, this last day of January, at As You See It!  Hopefully you can complete your card in ten minutes or less!  Look at this yummy challenge photo:

No photo description available.

I had been cleaning up some of my craft room right before I did this challenge and one of my challenges to myself was to finish up the cards in my May Paper Pumpkin kit.  Look what I found....a pretty "shades of brown" pre-printed card!  Woohoo!  I simply stamped a sentiment from A Wish For Everything in Craft White ink on some Early Espresso cardstock, sprinkled on some white embossing powder and heated it up to make this little tag to add to my card:

After heating it up, I diecut it with one of the dies from Trio of Tags (they're not just for the matching stamp set, LOL!), then added some Linen thread!

At the last minute, to add a little more brown, I watercolored the nest very quickly with some Soft Suede ink!  My final total was 8 minutes, 40 seconds!

I hope you'll step up to this challenge and use some shades of brown---in ten minutes or less--and share your creation with us at As You See It!  Can't wait to see it! Thanks for popping in today!

So I shared a card a few days ago for my great-nephew; his birthday was yesterday and I just had to share this photo his mom put on FB:

So no whining, any of you, about having a bad hair day, LOL!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!
