<p>GNU is turning 30, and you're invited to the festivities. Join us
at MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts on September 28 and 29 to celebrate
the GNU Project's world-altering accomplishments with cake and
coding. Of course, it wouldn't be a GNU Project event without an eye
to the future. The 30th anniversary hackathon will focus on two
important needs for free software in today's Web-based world:
federated publishing and communication services, and tools to protect
privacy and anonymity.</p>

<p>Featuring remarks from GNU founder Richard Stallman, GNU's 30th
will be an opportunity for free software legends and enthusiastic
newcomers to tackle important challenges together while celebrating
the GNU Project's success. <a
href="https://my.fsf.org/civicrm/event/register?id=10&amp;reset=1">Registration
is now open</a> and admission is gratis, though donations are
encouraged to defray the costs of cake and coffee.</p>
