Administration

The FIA Administration is the joint responsibility of the Secretary General for Automobile Mobility and Tourism, the Secretary General for Motor Sport and the Chief Administrative Officer.

The Secretary General for Automobile Mobility and Tourism is responsible for the activities of the FIA’s mobility department, representing FIA mobility clubs worldwide. This includes facilitating the effective exchange of information and best practices, representing member clubs at the international level and building regional co-ordination and co-operation for common strategies, public policies and initiatives. As of April 2014, around 10 people of 6 different nationalities are employed in the FIA Mobility department, based in Paris.

The Secretary General for Motor Sport is responsible for the activities of the FIA’s sport department, representing FIA sport clubs worldwide. This includes facilitating the exchange of information and best practices between clubs worldwide and implementing the decisions taken by the World Motor Sport Council. In carrying out his/her duties, the Secretary General for Motor Sport works in collaboration with the secretaries of the various FIA Sporting Commissions. As of April 2014 more than 50 people of 10 different nationalities are employed in the FIA Sport division based both in Geneva and Formula 1 GP.

The Chief Administrative Officer, based in Geneva, is appointed with the agreement of the FIA Senate. Acting in supporting of Mobility and Sport divisions, he is responsible for the financial management of the FIA and all FIA operational departments: Legal Services, IT Services, Marketing & Events, Purchasing & Property, Accounting & Finance, Human Resources, Conferences and General Services. As of April 2014 around 40 people of 7 different nationalities are employed in the FIA Administrative division, based in Geneva.

Communication and International Relations Department

The Communication and International Relations Department, based in Paris, reports to the President. Working in close collaboration with all the FIA departments, it is responsible for enhancing the visibility and reputation of the Federation with the media, the public as well as internal and external stakeholders. The Department also manages the FIA’s international relations with regional, national and global bodies and institutions.
