Want2Scrap™ November Guest Designer - Holly Simoni

Good morning blogging friends! Today, I am thrilled to share a Beautiful projects with you from our November Guest Designer, Holly Simoni. Throughout the post Holly has several tips that she shared for creating her project.

Holly designed this stunning 12 Days of Christmas wall hanging!! There are SO many details and check out all of that BLING!! Holly said that she used coordinating patterned paper collection that includes several hues, this way she was able to incorporate many different colors of Want2Scrap products and include fun colored bling like red and green along with the black, silver, white, mocha!

Holly used Spellbinders, Labels, Shapeabilities, and Nestabilities die templates to find the perfect size of die cut to fit behind each vintage label holder. She varied the size, shape and color of all 12 die cuts.

To embellish her project Holly used smaller die cuts, metal objects and even more Want2Scrap products and painted a few die cuts with glimmer glam.

Holly used fuzzy chipboard numbers represent all 12 days of Christmas.

The Christmas tree stamp is from the O Christmas Tree stamp set by JustRite and has the entire 12 days of Christmas on it. This 12 Days of Christmas project would make a great gift as well! All of the supplies that Holly used to create this stunning 12 Days of Christmas wall hanging are listed below.

November Guest Designer - Holly Simoni

Good morning blogging friends! It's the first of the month and that means we have a new Guest Designer to introduce. For the month of November Holly Simoni will be our Guest Designer!! I am so thrilled Holly will be joining us!! I LOVE her unique and artsy style!! Not only is Holly an Amazing designer but she is such a wonderful and inspiring person.

Here is a little bit about Holly~

I live in a small rural town in Wyoming. I have a fabulous husband that supports my creativity. Scrapbooking became a hobby for me when my two little girls were born. It has evolved into an expression of art for me. My art can be a bit wild, grungy, distressed and at times have a graphic feel to it. Photography, scrapbooking, and mixed media have become a great outlet for my artistic endeavors. I have taught altered art, altered books, card making, stamping, Photoshop Elements and scrapbook classes. I have enjoyed being published in scrapbooking and altered art magazines. I am a 2006, 2007 and 2009 Spellbinders Design Team Member, am a current Spellblogger, and Spellbinders Travel Team Member. I am also on the Tattered Angels Design Team.

I have volunteered my time with “Stars in Heaven” – a group of parents who have had a child pass away, and want to make paper arts as a form of therapeutic expression. I recently began volunteering to scrapbook with school age children to create memory albums. I have a B.S. Degree in Health and Human Development, and am a Certified Massage Therapist, but would secretly love to work full time in the paper crafting industry. My new obsession is curating words of wisdom on Pinterest!

Check out all of the places you can find Holly~

October Guest Designer - Debbie Seyer World Card Making Day - Everything Pink 50% Off!!

Good morning blogging friends! I can't believe it's the 1st of October! To me October signifies the beginning of Fall and the upcoming holidays. It seems like once we hit October everything is in full swing and doesn't seem to slow down until after the holidays.

Today, I have the pleasure of introducing our Guest Designer for the month of October, Debbie Seyer. I am so happy Debbie will be joining us this month!! She has a clean and classic style that I know you are going to love.

My name is Debbie Seyer and I live in Arnold, Missouri. I am a stay-at-home mom to three beautiful girls and I have been married to my High School sweetheart, Keith, for almost 20 years. My paper crafting journey started when our whole family went to Disney World in 1996. I started scrapbooking and finally found a hobby where I could actually complete my projects. In 2000, a friend invited me to a rubber stamping home workshop and I fell in love with cardmaking. I am proud to say that I have been published multiple times in paper crafting and scrapbooking magazines. I love working on Design Teams and have been very blessed to be on some really great teams. Besides paper crafting, I help with Funeral Luncheons at our church, help with Girl Scouts and am the taxi driver to a variety of musical instrument lessons for my girls. My hubby and I love to take our girls camping and exploring, watch movies and play board games.

I love these beautiful butterfly cards that Debbie designed! She used the Nestabling without a die template and hand cut one side giving her two pieces of bling to work with. Great idea!

This is a layout of Debbie's daughter Caitlyn. Great color combination and I love the designer paper and touches of bling she used to compliment the beautiful photo of her daughter.

Check out this fantastic blingy Halloween Tag Book! What a fun design! It's won't be long and Halloween will be here!!

To see more of Debbie's wonderful designs please visit her blog ~ A Peek Into My Stamping Room.

October 1st is a very important day in the paper crafting world because it's World Card Making Day. All of us at Want2Scrap™ would like to wish you a Happy World Card Making Day!!

Good morning blogging friends! Today, we have Trudy Sjolander joining us as our Guest Designer for September. Trudy designed this adorable Autumn card. The image is a pre-colored "Autumn Friends" digi image that Trudy designed. The image is then layered on the square die cuts. Trudy used S4-126 Classic Squares Large and S4-127 Classic Scalloped Squares Large die templates from Spellbinders™ to create the shapes. Then she added Nestabling™ Beaded Square White Pearls to embellish the die cuts and accent the image. Trudy used Copic markers to add color to the white pearls and now the pearls match her project perfectly. Want2Scrap™ sells pearls, rhinestones and Nestabling™ in many different colors but sometimes when your working on a project you need to have that perfect color match and you can achieve that using the white pearls or silver bling and Copic markers. To finish off her card Trudy added purple glitter and a beautiful bow with Apple Green Satin Diamond ribbon. I love the color of that ribbon! Fabulous card, Trudy!! Thanks so much for sharing it with us! Guest Designer - Lori Craig - Carpe Diem

I can't believe I'm at the end of my Guest Designing month with Want2Scrap™. I've assured Miss Heidi that's not the end of my Want2Scrap™ consumption. :) Thanks so much to Michele and her fabulous team for inviting me to share with you this month. I've loved it!

For my final project, I wanted to show a framed layout that I put together after a fabulous trip to New York City earlier this month. One of my dearest friends, Jenn Balcer, and I had the opportunity to take Manhattan by storm for 4 full days...and we made the absolute most of it! Sightseeing! Shopping! Eating! Seeing Wicked! The Crown of the Lady Liberty! The Empire State Building! With lots of open time, we were able to seize the days! It was truly a fabulous trip! This is a photo was taken at the top of the Empire State Building at midnight.

I knew I wanted a monochromatic finish to my project, so I started with one of my signature looks, kraft cardstock, and applied aqua acrylic paint over a space just larger than my photo. Then I applied the same acrylic paint over the edges of my black and white photo. I cut my dies with Spellbinders™ templates and adhered the paper die cuts to the Nestaboard™ with liquid adhesive. All of my rhinestones were colored with Copic marker and then the elements were layered onto my picture and adhered with foam adhesive.

Tip - Coloring Want2Scrap™ rhinestones with Copic Marker is easy since the alcohol based ink will adhere to virtually any non-porous surface. While bling is still on manufacturer packaged acrylic sheet, lightly skim color over the top of silver bling with the side of the brush tip on the Copic Sketch (or Ciao). This will let you apply ink over top of the bling embellishment very quickly without applying ink to the clear adhesive of the design. You should probably select a color of marker that is a shade or two *darker* than your desired color, and always test an inconspicuous rhinestone before coloring final embellishment.

Want2Scrap™ Supplies Uesd:

Lori, thank you so much for being the Guest Designer for Want2Scrap™ during the month of August!! We have loved seeing your designs and the how you have used Want2Scrap™ products to embellish your projects. Your projects have been amazing and I love your framed art!! To see more of Lori's beautiful artwork please be sure to visit her blog--Make a Difference.

Thank you so much for stopping by the Want2Scrap™ blog today and I hope you have a sparkling and creative day!!

We appreciate it SO Much!!!

A special thanks to my friends at Want2Scrap™ for asking me to be a guest designer this month! I've been a happy Want2Scrap™ consumer since I first saw there products at CHA last year. I've created an altered notebook and a clean and simple card for you today, both showcasing one of my favorite products, the nylon butterflies.

First up, I purchased a set of three of these cute notebooks at my local stationery shop to use on a recent trip. I tried keeping a small journal while I was traveling to make note of random things I wanted to remember, like there are 14,000 cab cars in NYC and over 30,000 registered cabbies...the Rockefeller Building is 80 floors tall and was completed in 1933... there are over 700 employees at the 24-hour Apple Store on 5th Avenue. So this is one of the notebooks that stayed home, and I loved decorating it.

I started with my Nestabling™ Labels Nine Silver Rhinestones on the cover of my notebook. I have worked with a lot of shaped rhinestones over the years, and I really appreciate how the shaped bling from Want2Scrap™ holds its shape so that it can easily be removed from the packaging and affixed to my project. Then, I added a main image panel cut from kraft cardstock with a Spellbinders™ S4-233 Label Nine die template. The image is stamped with a large silhouette from the Discovery Your Wings set (Taylored Expressions) with Orange Marmalade Distress Ink and then the edges were distressed with Jasmine Mix'd Media Inx from Clearsnap. My next step was to add a sentiment from the Rest and Renewal set, stamped on patterned paper from Making Memories. The sentiment tag was cut free hand and layered on a piece of crocheted ribbon.

Next, this is my favorite part, I accented the combo with sweet orange 1" nylon butterflies from Want2Scrap™ using a clear glue gel. Instantly kicks it up a notch while keeping the design clean and simple enough to work for a mini notebook!

While everything was out on my table, I thought I'd make a sympathy card for one of my friends who recently lost her mother. These butterflies are the perfect delicate touch for a card that you need to be extra special.

I used the same image from Discover Your Wings and stamped on shimmery white cardstock with Mix'd Media Inx from Clearsnap. The cardstock has just a little shimmer, which I love, and the ink is opaque for a very pretty finish. I cut my image layer with a Spellbinders™ S4-161 Labels One die and attached my butterfly with a clear glue gel. The main image panel is the attached to an embossed layer of shimmery white cardstock and tied with a wide silk bow before being attached to a white card base.

Not overly fancy, but special...exactly what I want my sympathy cards to be.

I hope you've enjoyed these projects with a few of my favorite Want2Scrap™ items. I'm looking forward to sharing my next project with you in a few days.

Make something sparkle today ~ Lori
