Canvas Project: Take the Time 2 Create

It's a New Year's Resolution for a lot of us.
Make time to create.
I need the reminder.

You too, can make a SIMPLE canvas.

I created this SUPER simple canvas.
by using a piece of balsa wood.

I decoupaged some napkins onto the board.
I added a coat of paint, and created a whitewash finish by
dry brushing some Gesso.

I sanded and inked around the edges with
I added some Tissue Tape,
a transparency,
a beautiful chevron border,
some words and hardware...
a few buttons,
some bulk LOOSE bling, and
and the title...

The Fancy chipboard title Create was painted with Gesso and
coated with Medium and then
dusted with Fairy Dust from our preferred partner, Clearsnap.

VOILA...

Take the time 2 Create...

Embellishing a Store Bought Frame

We love our preferred partners. When I saw these papers from Authentique, I was so immediately inspired to start crafting.

I started with a plastic frame from Ikea. First off, I could not believe this was plastic, it's so NICE!
I die cut several flowers using Spellbinder's Spiral Blossom.

Most of the other pieces are ready made.
The Bird on a Branch is a silhouette.
I used one of Donna Salazar's Puzzle Pack pieces and covered it with yellow patterned paper,
distressed it by sanding, and glazed it with glossy accents.

Then, it was time to drip the bling.
I took Sleek Strips and made a few cuts so I could round the corners of the inner opening.
I carefully trimmed around the butterflies from the Wonderful Wings Nestabling set, and left the clear backing intact, and just glued using a glue dot. Finally, I added some strips of Nina Brackett's gorgeous Chevron Bling Border to the tabbed card.

This project really didn't take very long, but I'm so pleased with the results.
What do you think?

Bling in the New Year

I really can't make a post about the New Year without
first wishing my daughter a very happy

S E V E N T E E N

Yes, it's my daughter's birthday.
17 years ago today, she made her way into the world.
Wasn't it yesterday?

Something fun I do with my daughter is
go on Dollar Store shopping sprees once in a while.
You can buy a bunch of fun things,
and still have money left for BLING!
The last time we were there we got some fun
horns, glasses, and bubbles for New Year's.

We enjoy have fun, corny celebrations!

The horns were really cheesy though, so I decided
to decorate. At 3 for $1, I decided to tear one up
to make a pattern. I traced it onto patterned paper -
both from our friends at Authentique.
I made a little extra piece for the top area.

I glued all this together and added stickers
from SRM Stickers, and of course ...

B L I N G

I cut apart some Beautiful Bling Borders for around
the horn and the upper part that divides the pink and the grey.
I used a large Sleek Strip at the top,
and a small Sleek Strip at the bottom, near the horn.

Thanks for looking.
Happy Birthday to my sweetheart, and
a very Happy New Year to all of you.

Be safe, be well, be happy, and be creative as you

BLING IN THE NEW YEAR!!!

Clean and Simple: Noel

Here's a fun Clean and Simple Card, also known as a"CAS"card.

The card was cut and scored.
It's a simple card base, 4.25x5.5" folded vertically, rather than horizontally.

The patterned paper mat measures 4x5.25" and was lightly edged with a BG49 Copic Marker.
The word "NOEL" was created on the Cricut, and just the outline is used, rather than the letters.
Noel was attached with 3D Foam Tape and embellished with Turquoise Baby Bling.
The "O" is decorated with a Blank Craft Shape embellished with more Turquoise Baby Bling.

Some Snowflake brads and a swirl and leaf bling
from Donna Salazar's
were added to complete the card.

A Holiday for the Birds

Hi, Allie here with a Shabby Chic Holiday Tutorial.
Let's embellish a Bird Cage for the winter holidays.
I'm using this pretty Bird Cage on my door.

Begin by applying a layer of gesso. Use a dry brush technique, with
very little paint. Simply swish it back and forth.

While the paint is drying, you can apply patterned paper to the background piece.
Once the bird cage front is dry, sponge on ink.

Paint the Fancy Chipboard Title "Noel" with gesso.
Once the gesso is dry, lightly brush on Liquid Glass
and liberally sprinkle Sugar Shimmer.

Now, you're ready to decorate!
This project is embellished with an ornament,
Frilly Flourish Swirl, some brads, and flowers.

Products Used

Designer Embellies - Bonnie's Bird Cage
Frilly Flourish Swirl - Silver Rhinestone

NOEL

Earlier in the month, I shared a project using Nestabling Pennants.
I didn't use all the sizes, so I had leftovers,
so I thought I'd trim those up and use them to
decorate this adorable cube.

I started by covering the cube with papers from Authentique.
I left the edges exposed, I thought the white was sparkly
and reminded me of snow.
Have you seen any of that elusive stuff yet this season?
I saw a flake or too here in Minnesota. Not much though!

I colored and "dusted" Stylish Chipboard Alpha with Sugar Shimmer glitter
from ClearSnap [Donna Salazar]. This sparkly stuff is so cute, it comes in a salt shaker!

This little tree is from the train section at a hobby store.
I added some gesso "paint" and then
I decorated it with some buttons from Buttons Galore.

More buttons, held in place with some pins from Maya Road.

These sparkly poinsettias from Prima really finished off the piece.
The letters are super sparkly, but I still added some Baby Bling
to make sure they could really Bling in the SEASON right.

Thanks for making us a part of your day. I hope your season is "Blinging" along nicely!

Saving Love Notes

I made a fun cover for a envelope filled with LOVE quotes.
Some of these I find online, some I cut out, some I hear or read.
I am always finding loving words of wisdom, and I wanted a pretty way to store them.
I store this on my bulletin board, right in front of me at my craft table,
just like it's shown below!

I started by attaching a piece of patterned paper [Graphic 45]
to some recycled chipboard cut from a cereal box and distressed it with
a sanding tool [Bazzill] and some brown ink [Close to My Heart]
and added some crepe ribbon [Creative Impressions]
and a button [Buttons Galore].
I attached the button with some floral wire through two holes in the grunge paper.

I die cut the heart using Spellbinders dies, and the cut shape
perfectly matches the Scalloped Heart Nestaboard
which I embellished with Pink Heart Nestabling
I added some flowers [gift from my friend, Trudy Sjolander]
using Beacon's 3-in-1 adhesive [Buttons Galore],
some leaves [Prima] and some of Nina Brackett's Classy Corners - Elegance.
I LOVE Bling, and too much is never enough.

I colored the beautiful Chipboard Dress Form with a Copic Marker
and painted it with some Liquid Glass [Close to My Heart],
then quickly dusted it with some glitter [Donna Salazar].
I want to say a special thanks to Donna for providing this
in one of our Design Team packages. It's neat stuff,
and comes in a salt shaker - brilliant!
Underneath, I adhered some patterned paper [Authentique].

The LOVE is also colored with a Copic Marker, and embellished with Baby Bling - Brown

Thank you for making us a part of your day.

Bring in the Bling

I hope your Thanksgiving was great!

Do you participate in the madness that is Black Friday? Not me, I like to recuperate from Thanksgiving. I cannot however, resist a great opportunity to add a little bling to my craft room. Check out this amazing sale - Everything is 50% OFF. This Momma wants a blingy new iPhone Case.

How about some inspiration?
Do you have any birthdays this time of year?

We do in our house, and if they look even remotely "Christmasey" - well,
let's just say...
THAT WON'T DO!
In the birthday girl's mind,
it's akin to cheating!

So, how about Black and Yellow?
and BUTTERFLIES?
and B L I N G!

I'm starting with some die cut circles, and some distress ink.
There's a hint of blue, just a little extra color.

I added sentiments.

I added butterflies. I sprayed these with some
sparkly goodness from Color Box, and added some Baby Bling ... B L I N G!
I put on Pennant Nestabling, created to perfectly
match Spellbinders Pennants!

I connected the pennants together with some
buttons [Buttons Galore & More] and twine,
and some crepe ribbon.

I added some baubles to the bottoms,
because ...
you can never have TOO much B L I N G!
Am I right?

I want this to last, maybe use again, or hold up for display.
So, I'm thankful for NESTABOARD - I backed all
my pennants with matching board.

Enjoy BLACK FRIDAY.
Please, don't forget to stock up on some BLING!

Thanks for making us a part of your day,

Allie.
