...sneaky peeks at Gina's and How to party at Stamp TV

Gina 'peeked' these two sets on her Facebook page today, these are two of my 5 existing sets that will be released tomorrow. Can't tell you how fabby it is to be working with Gina.

The big release happens tomorrow, and I believe the Ning site is now working again and so I look forward to seeing you all at the release party - Have you been to a Gina K party before? Maybe you have, but if not, here's how to take part: Sean, the DT coordinator made up this handy graphic, it explains so much, so I'm just gonna go ahead and swipe that from his FB...

So go ahead, get yourself over to Stamp TV and make yourself at home, get a wee grove worn into your seat so's you'll be all comfy for tomorrow's release! See you there!

...So what's happening? New stuff - that's what's happening!

There's a New Gina K release this week - and I have been busy making some cards - now that I'm on the DT I get to actually make stuff!!! I cannot tell you how excited I am about this. I am especially excited to be making cards with stamps that I didn't even have to draw! LOL, it is ridiculous how happy this makes me. Now don't get me wrong, I love drawing stamps, but I have had a blast working with three sets this week that come from Gina's super talented crew, it feels more like fun than work and I'm just gonna hold that thought, because it's been a while since I had some genuine crafty fun.

Have you seen the sneak peeks - if not here they are for you:

Here is sneak peek #1 of our May release! If you have lots of beautiful flower stamps, this set will be a MUST-have! Melanie Muenchinger's new Fill it with Flowers gives you all kind of containers, vases, paper wraps, decorative bows, twines and even a few new flowers! WAIT until you see this set!
Sneak Peek #3- Bethann Erin Silaika has another new adorable set to add to her collection of whimsical characters! Meet Sophie! Whether it's a get well card, a birthday wish, a gift card holder or just a little love, Sophie Pig will make them smile.

Sneak Peek #2- Theresa Momber has create a sister set to her best selling Country Roads stamp set! Country Roads 2 features gorgeous peaceful images and greetings perfect for masculine cards or for anyone who loves the country lifestyle.

Also there might be a few former WMS sets in the offing on Thursday also, (*cough Planner Basics Frames cough), you never know what you might find, I'd strongly advise a wee trip to Gina's. :)

So pop the date in your diary - the new release goes live on Thursday, 7 PM, May 26th! Hold fast for more details, The party 'should' be on the Stamp TV website, but I know there are a few gremlins over at the Ning site right now, but I will post again tomorrow to let you know what the plan is!

... settling in at Gina K's place

One of the things I'm trying to do now that WMS has closed is to get my head around the amazing company that I am joining (In case you didn't hear, I'll be designing for Gina K). I had 'seen' Gina around the web for years, I'd built up an admiration of her company, her designs and then her personality. I managed to have a few chats with her over the years and I found that all the lovely things folks said about her were true. Gina is a genuinely lovely lady and the way she runs her company was always a huge inspiration to me at WMS. I'll say it again, I am honoured to be joining  the crew and while I sit here twiddling my thumbs waiting for the Postie to bring me my Sending Love Stamp TV kit, I'm doing a little snooping around over at Gina's. Here's a pic of what I'm waiting on (squeal! LOVE gingham papers!)....

There's actually quite a lot to see. Now that I have some time on my hands, I'm beginning to explore the possibilities and I thought that you might like an intro too. Most of you will already know Gina K designs, but if you haven't been over yet, here's a list of all the great places you can connect with Gina K Designs -

The Gina K Designs store is here: Gina K Store

Just a quick note about the online store
"The Gina K. Designs online store will be closed through Friday, April 29th so we can move to our new location! We will reopen at 9:00 AM Saturday morning with lots of inventory back in stock! Videos will continue on StampTV and we hope you will join us there for inspiration and fun while we set up our new location. All orders currently in the system will continue to ship until they are all out. Thanks so much for you patience as we strive to make our online store better than ever before!"
-  the background to this is that Gina is opening a brand new bricks and mortar store - you lucky folks in USA will be able to actually visit this soon! Read all about the new store here.

The Stamp TV site is here: Stamp TV

Stamp TV is a FREE community with literally thousands of resources in the form of videos (over 780! of them), tutorials, galleries, forums, downloads, and the like. ALL FREE. No subscription...nope... You can get in there right now and learn new stuff right away. It's a great place to set up your crafty home on the web and I look forward to building my page there and getting to know the 'locals'.

If you just want to ogle thousands of purty cards, check this out: Stamp TV/Gina K Pinterest account

I especially love the inspirational behind the scenes insight and motivational pics on Gina's Instagram

Facebookers can connect with Gina K designs here: Gina K Facebook Page

Tweeters, find Gina K here.

The pic I snaffled to head up this post is a sample made to illustrate one of the many techniques that you can learn over at Stamp TV. Pop over to see the video now! it's right here.

Ok, that's a beginners list - we've a lot of super info to get through folks, why don't you pop over to Stamp TV and join up for free and we can explore it all together!

Pinch me!

Folks, the most fabulous news! I am to be part of the Gina K team. I cannot begin to tell you in words what this means to me - did you SEE all the lovely things Gina wrote about me! I'm pinching myself. Right now I am the luckiest lady in stampland and I'm just gonna take a moment and let this all sink in! Gina has been an idol of mine since I discovered stamping and it is an absolute honor to be associated in any way with her company. I am so grateful for the chance to work with Gina and her amazing team!

...Going...going....nearly gone...

http://www.waltzingmousestamps.com/products/camellia

Folks I am currently dismantling the store and I hope to have it all fully offline by Monday Morning (4 April). I am still waiting for a small number of folks to respond to my replies to their queries before I can close all of the files and remove everything completely. I am also doing one last stock check tonight and I have found a couple of odds and ends that should have been on the store - I'll be adding these in the next day or so once I have confirmed that I don't need them for any waiting orders.

USA shipping is ending tonight once I have removed all of the USA stock from the store. However, I may still be shipping stock from here in UK tomorrow/Saturday if there are any last moment things you wish to snap up.

It has been an incredibly busy couple of weeks since I announced the closure and I must pay tribute to the herculean efforts of my good friend Lynn at WMS USA. We have been inundated with orders and Lynn has been a wonder woman!

Thanks to everyone who joined us along the way, even if you only popped on board this last week or so, your support has been appreciated! Hope to chat to you all soon in blog land, I anticipate a little free time soon! :)  Claire

The image above shows on of our earlier sets, Camelia - it was one that I especially loved, but never got the chance to use much!

...WMS is closing

Folks, Waltzingmouse Stamps store is closing.

It took me a half hour just to write that one line.
Gosh, that was hard.

WMS store will close down completely at the end of March 2016,
just over a month shy of our 7th birthday.

I want to thank everyone who has ever shopped with us, partied with us, chatted with us or generally just cheered us on - you have made the last 7 years a blessing to me,
Thank You so much for being part of WMS!

What happens now?

Shipping of in-stock items will continue up until the end of March from both the UK and USA locations. Folks having discount codes or gift vouchers etc should use them now as once the store closes at end of March, WMS will cease to trade and all vouchers and codes will no longer be useable.

If there's anything you ever wanted from WMS, it would be best to order it now - I am hoping to stay in the stamping/craft industry but I have no idea if any of these designs will ever be available again since I won't be running a stamp store!

Why is WMS closing?
Well it's a long story, but if you want to hear it:

I began Waltzingmouse Stamps in 2009 with the vision that I wanted to provide the very best quality design, in the very best quality photopolymer paired with the very best quality customer service. At the time I was operating on a very small scale and that was grand, I was able to make all three of those things happen and still be at home for the wee folks and pretend that I was doing some housework as well.

It was a really steep learning curve and I enjoyed it, I like a challenge. I learned how to design for polymer, how to design dies - I taught myself how to set up and run a company and how to set up and run an online store, I'd never done anything like that before and I was determined to do all of these things to the best of my ability.
To do them right.

As the business grew, I was juggling lots of different things and I was managing because I was ok with giving up on housework. Mr B took over the kitchen.

I had the opportunity, twice, to 'Go Big' and I passed both times because I didn't want to be a big company. WMS stayed small, so that I could hang on to as much family time as possible. My big priority is to raise my children and I need to be here to do that. WMS gave me the chance to earn a living and also be around for my wee folk and I am really, really lucky to have been able to do that for so long.

The business grew as big as I could handle, and that's thanks to you folks who came and played along with us, and I am very grateful for you. WMS has always been fortunate to have had the loveliest folks, from all over the world. I've 'met' folks from Iceland to South Africa, from Moscow to Brazil, Japan, Australia - all over the globe - what an amazing thing, to find myself here in a damp corner of Ireland chatting to all these wonderful folks. Exotic addresses to ship to, beautiful names, beautiful people everywhere!

I really never thought that we would get as far as we did - and look at the Designs Teams we have had! We've had the most talented and kindest ladies in the craftosphere here at WMS!
It has been a charm.

Along with a growing business though, came growing time pressure, and I found myself working all day and late into the night, every night, for several years. I'm not afraid of hard work and it was still worth it, I was still able to do the school runs and be at home, even if I was closed away in the office most of the time.

However this last year or so things have gotten a little out of hand. My wee folk need me as much now as ever, maybe even a little more. There have been huge changes in online business practices to keep up with and a number of frankly ridiculous EU directives have been introduced, making it much harder for small businesses to function economically. Consequently there's been a lot of time-greedy admin tasks that have resulted in my not having enough time for designing,
for making, or for efficient customer service,
and that compromises my original vision for WMS.

I don't want to compromise, and so I have decided to close WMS.

What's next?

Immediately? Well I'll be tying up loose ends at WMS until end of March, and I will be crafting. I will be taking the opportunity to get out from underneath my admin rock and see what's going on, maybe reconnect with the whole blogging world. I will be redesigning this blog to reflect me, myself and my crafting interests.

I'll be getting back to making and I will be getting myself ready for an adventure. You know that saying? The one about the door closing and another one opening, well it's true - I will be able to tell you more about it later this year, but how about you pop back in a week or so and we can talk crafting, you know actual cardstock and glue and maybe ink and such, like we used to?

...Christmas Arrangements at the store

Folks Christmas is nearly upon us and I just wanted to post some info regarding Christmas shipping arrangements at the store - We will be shipping every week day up until the 18th December. From the 18th we will be taking a break from shipping for the Christmas Vacation. Shipping will resume on the 8th January. I may do one pick up here in UK in the middle of the holidays but the US orders will not resume until the 8th Jan.

This pic is an oldie but goodie - Jennifer Holmes made this cracking little ornament with the Seasonal Remedies set from WMS.

I have a post or two scheduled for the blog before Christmas so I'll not say cheerio just yet, but I do hope your Christmas prep is running smoothly - chat soon! :)

...It'll get easier...they said...

I'm not even going to write you a big excuse as to why the blog has been empty for two weeks, I'm just going to say one word and I know you will understand. Children. Not complaining at all, they remain the most perfect, sweet smelling, delightfully grinny little fluffy angels that the Big Man above ever created (present company excepted) but they sure know how to induce a heart attack keep me on my toes... which is grand... that's what I'm here for... breathe... "Hello is that Mrs Brennan? Can you come to school? Your son has passed out/your daughter is ill/there's something living in his schoolbag..." breathe. Also it takes a day and a half to track down a decent looking cowboy hat in Northern Ireland.... gap in the market?

Meantime, back at the ranch, this sorry excuse for a card had been hanging around the desk waiting to be put out of it's misery. It was only after I had finished (because, by Jove, I was determined to finish at least one blasted project this week) that I realised how dreadful this card actually was... poor Moose got hung by his horns without a hint of grounding, and as DH says "Warm winter wishes? You wish me a season of dead moose?..."

Yep this card is my lesson for you on how NOT to put a card together....

1) Choose a sentiment that actually matches or relates to your focal point...
2) Decide what you want the focal point to be before you assemble the card... Tip - 3 focal points on one card don't work.... unless you are a genius stylist such as Melissa Phillips and can combine different elements with aplomb....
3) While it's tempting to use card fronts/bits and bobs you already made up for another project, just because you are pushed for time... Don't. Unless it already matches. Turns out rusty orange Moose (Mooses? Moosiae?) and blue snowflakes don't really conjure up that Christmas/winter vibe....
4) In fact, if you are feeling mojoless, or really tight for time - so tight that you don't even have time to turn the handle, just once, on the die machine - Give up. Walk away. Leave it alone or risk the curse of the poor winter moose.

If you happen to have some rusty moose hanging about (see what I did there) and are desperate to recreate this horror for your own edification, you could use these items that I also used... I can assure you that these items are all terribly well behaved of their own accord and only get into trouble, such as above, when I am 'just not feeling it'.... Chat soon. C.

...Slight delay to shipping

Folks, just a head's up to anyone ordering UK stock from the WMS store - our UK shipping will be delayed over the next two days due to an unexpected problem. Our vehicle was damaged when it was hit by another car. We were parked at the time and were not injured, the car is just going to be off the road for a while being repaired. I will have something in place by Thursday for deliveries, but tomorrow will be pretty lost while I try to get repairs organised. My apologies for anyone who experiences a delay at this time.

...Sneak Peeking Planner Basics - Frames and a draw!

Folks this morning I have a little more info on my mini release, which is happening this Friday Evening - I will have two new stamp sets plus some new sequins for you. I finally gave into the planner craze, and I needed a few stamps to help me gussy up my planner/s (yes, more than one)!

I squeezed a couple of Planner basics stamp sets into my schedule ahead of the seasonal stuff, 'cos it's still summer right?

The set you are peeking at above is called Planner Basics - Frames. I photocopied a page from my Erin Condren life Planner and stamped most of the stamps form the Frames set on the page, so you can see how they fit into the box layout. I am pretty chuffed with these. The set contains a massive 23 stamps - all fitted into a 6x4 inch set, which is our medium size set. This set will go live on Fiday evening and it will be priced at £9.95GBP.

I'm not going to talk you through all of the stamps in this set - you can see for yourself what variety there is - but I have to point out my favourites - the clipboard stamp - under 'Tuesday' - I love this mini clipboard - I have added the dotted lines and the  check boxes - these are separate stamps, and together they make a super to-do list. You could also leave the clipboard empty and use it as a frame.

I also love the mini binder clip stamp - you can see I stamped it on the bottom of the page in 3 different colours - that is sooo cute. -I also created a special binder clip frame - perfect for highlighting a particular task, or appointment - see those in the top left hand side - they are the perfect size to slot in the lined area at the left of this Erin Condren planner, or they fit nicely in the boxes. Another fave is the half paperclip - I love how this works on the frames. OOh and the washi tapes...

Later on I will show you what the stamps look like in a Happy Planner and also in a Filofax/Paperchase style planner - they work great for these too.

Hope this is tickling!

The Draw

Could I ask a favour? Would you mind sharing this post anywhere and everywhere and letting all your planner buddies know about our little release - I would really appreciate you helping me get the word out! Thank You!

When you have told everyone you can think of, please leave a comment here to let me know that you have shared - and I will enter you in the draw. On Friday night (just before the stamps go live at 7:00pm) I will pick a winner to win £10GBP store credit for WMS.

..Sneaky Peeky!

Good evening folks! I have been peeking a few new 'wee' stamps on my Instagram... I broke out and purchased a planner and then I was given another...and now I'm just a little bit addicted - it seemed like the only thing missing was some itty bitty, teeny tiny stamps..... Guess what just arrived?

Pop back to see a few more peeks tomorrow - I am loving these - hope you will too!

I'll be holding a mini release of sorts on Friday evening - I just wanted to squeeze out these little goodies before we get into all the seasonal stuff... more details to follow tomorrow.

... recapturing my...

I was going to say...youth, because planners take me right back to that happy period in my life, my teen years, when I had very little to organise and all day to organise it. Now that I've got a billion things to manage, Ms Organisation and I have become mere aquaintances - we nod at each other when we pass in the hall, but I don't see her socially any more...

Hopefully that's all about to change as I have been bitten but the planner bug. I swore off this for ages, not because I didn't want to do it, but because, frankly I didn't know where to start.

It seemed like late last year there was some kind of explosion in a planner factory and these things started landing all around me, I dodged them to begin with - so many brands, Filofax, Erin Condren, Happy, Kikki.K, Kate Spade, I had no idea where to look first and then a pal suggested Paperchase, I bought one from there and I love it, but I don't have it all gussied up yet.... I'm even writing it in pencil 'til I find a cute pen or two... you will see it at a later date.

I love planners, I always have, I still have my first filofax, it was a small compact size and I loved it, I used it through my A level exams and I did ok ;) Maybe this will work for me again.. we will see.

Anyhow, excitedly, I was handed this today - I know all you planner peeps will know what it is and I am a little excited to see how it will compare to the traditional UK Filofax/Paperchase kind of layout. I have admired these from afar, and I don't think they are too common this side of the pond, so I'm keen to try this system out also. What can I say, one for work and one for home? Will that wash with you or am I just being greedy? :)
