Tyra's Garden is a small garden on the island of Resarö situated in the inner part of the archipelago near the small town Vaxholm, outside Stockholm. Tyra's Garden is mostly an ornamental vegetable garden, my potager. But flowers are of course an important ingredience, for beauty and pollination. The climate in these parts is quite demanding as the northerly winds can be strong and cold. THIS BLOG 'Tyra's Garden' is not entirely a gardenblog it contains much more. June in Tyra's Garden

This "June in Tyra's Garden" post was originally uploaded by Tyra Hallsénius Lindhe in the blog Tyra's Garden/ Tyras Trädgård

TIME FLIES...STOP

Stop...it goes too fast! It feels like yesterday that I welcome June the first true month of the summer and now it’s almost gone. The garden virtually exploded all these wonderful blooms all at once. I have made a lot of herbal salt and tasty vinegars, my pink herbal salt turned out really wonderful.

You find the recipe in The Kitchen Garden/ Köksträdgården my Swedish blog about my potager, you do have to press the translate button. Pink Herbal Salt/ Rosaörtsalt

Kitschy PEONY?

This post "Kitschy Peony" was originally uploaded by Tyra Hallsénius Lindhe in the blog Tyra's Garden / Tyras Trädgård

Can a flower be Kitschy?

Today, the peonies starts to flower in my garden. It has been raining heavily the last few days and the poor branches on the peonies really need all the support they can get. I think this peony is a masterpiece, I know they can be almost too good on the edge to being vulgar, but still this is really what I need on a rainy day as this one.

June - A garden gone wild

This post "June - a garden gone wild" was originally uploaded by Tyra Hallsénius Lindhe in the blog Tyras Trädgård/Tyra's Garden.

June - with an impressive display with flowers and colours.

I let all my flowers run wild in the garden up to Midsummer. The upcoming weekend with Midsummer’s Eve has always been an important day in our family and I say for most of the Swedish families. We all come together family and friends and eat our special midsummer menu and dance with the younger members of the families around the Maypole.

A lot of decorations are made for the Midsummer festivities with wild-flowers from Mother Nature as well as flowers from the garden. This is why I always save and let my garden really run wild up to Midsummer. I need flowers for the Maypole, the vases, midsummer garlands and to make a midsummer wreath to put in the hair.

The making of Midsummer wreaths.

Papaver and  Aquilegia vulgaris

Irises i full bloom, the really thieves in a dry and sunny position I have in the garden. If I just make sure that their rhizomes not are overgrown by a lot of other plants. the rhizomes need air and sunshine.

~ ~ ~

Crescendo in Tyra's Garden

Crescendo in my garden!

&

everything at once...

...Poppies,

 Forget-me-nots, Lilacs, Irises, Columbine, Daisies

...and the list goes on and on.

All these gorgeous flowers ’in floribus’ all at once like a huge symphonic orchestra. An orchestra that preforms the musical melody of summertime right now, right here in my garden.

The mighty Rhododrendron must be the bass drum, irises are the bassoons and the daisies are all clarinets, the little violets just must be the violins. The piano?...Could it be the rows of purple and white lilacs in perfect harmony.

This is not an orchestra just a piano playing a piece of favourite Nordic music, a summer melody
