Tyra's Garden is a small garden on the island of Resarö situated in the inner part of the archipelago near the small town Vaxholm, outside Stockholm. Tyra's Garden is mostly an ornamental vegetable garden, my potager. But flowers are of course an important ingredience, for beauty and pollination. The climate in these parts is quite demanding as the northerly winds can be strong and cold. THIS BLOG 'Tyra's Garden' is not entirely a gardenblog it contains much more. About me: Enthusiastic amateur gardener and photographer from Vaxholm, Sweden. Designed and built my Greenhouse and Potager in Tyra's Garden 2003. Rosa Alba 'Minette'

This post Rosa Alba 'Minette' was originally uploaded by Tyra Hallsénius Lindhe in the blog Tyras Trädgård/Tyra's Garden

I just found some pictures of 'Minette' in my unsorted July files. I think this rose is so very pretty that I want so share it with you all, even if we now are in the August. It is one of my favorite roses this old faithful bush rose we have in the garden, full name Rosa alba 'Minette'.  It is very common in the gardens in Scandinavia, I wonder if it also is common worldwide?

'Minette' an old alba rose from  the beginning of 17th century, Minette is very hardy and long-lived. Double beautiful light-pink flowers, almost white, that darken in the centre. Minette has got this healthy foliage and the fragrant is wonderful. I can really recommend this alba rose.

Happy Gardening to you all!

Tuesday

Meet Dear John.

節氣 Quifen

We are now on the 23th of September entering the Quifen, the autumnal equinox is here and the summer of 2010 is gone, the days are getting shorter and shorter by the day. The leaves colors are starting to fade and soon they will fall. In the garden this morning I met my friend John, he is a Canadian, I took some picture for you so you can meet my darling John Davis the Explorer Rose from Canada. A little bit wet and cold but he looks like he is enjoying the September days, the last days of summer.

Thank you Canada for giving us these hardy Explorer Roses!
