Formex mässan i Älvsjö - The Nordic Design Fair

It is Blooming Friday and today I would like to show you what I found at Formex the largest trade fair for Nordic interior design. The company Ceasar Collection - arrenged a competition for florists. Which one of these five participants do you think have the best designed 'room'.
The five florists are: (all women)
Anna Carlsson, Jenny Söderberg, Anna Berg, Marianne Walldén and Anja Palm.

~~~
Ceasar Collection anordnade en tävling där fem florister hade gjort var sitt ‘blomsterarrangemang’/ bidrag, här skulle man rösta vilken man tyckte var bäst om. Nu skall du utan att besöka FORMEX få se alla bidragen, vilket skulle du välja? Jag vet inte vem som vann eller vinner för att tävlingen är ännu inte avgjord, men jag vet vem som jag röstar på.
Floristerna är:
Anja Palm
Ifrån Växthuset i Kristianstad
Marianne Walldén
Fröken Knopp i Norrtälje
Anna Berg
Häggviks Blommor i Sollentuna
Jenny Söderberg
Etage Blommor i Härnösand
Anna Carlsson
Annas Gröna Rum i Katrineholm
Vote - Rösta!
Which one is your favourite?
Did I mention they flowers are all 'fake'
Trend theme Formex Spring 2010 - Creative Flow
We're turning the page now; anxiety and worry are being replaced with cautious optimism. Change is possible. There's talk of a paradigm shift. It's not just a demand for change; it's also a desire for change. This in turn creates considerable scope for creativity. The trend theme for Formex this spring is "Creative Flow".
December blooms - Hyacinthus orientalis
Today we have had a terrible winter storm with up to gale force wind and heavy snowfall. It was a complete chaos in the traffic with a total stand still for the busses. Luckily I could convince my colleagues that they could cope without me and my boss said yes. As a result I have had a wonderful day baking a loaf of fruit bread, taking a long bath, doing some tidying among clothes that I never wear, making a pie for dinner and creating decorative Christmas labels for my Christmas gift.
Snöstorm och trafikkaos, fullständig kaos idag! Det har snöat vertikalt hela dagen och blåst så det har gått rakt igenom huset. Jag skulle bara jobba några timmar idag och lyckligtvis kunde jag övertala dom på jobbet att jag fick vara hemma och komma in och jobba lite extra i mellandagarna istället. Så min dag har varit alldeles underbar, städat lite, tagit ett långt hett bad, bakat ett matbröd med frukt och nötter och gjort en god paj till middag - en riktigt skön dag en andra ord. Nu till blommorna det är ju blommig fredag hos Katarina
Now to the blooms...it is Blomming Friday at Katarina's place
The Hyacinth is my number one among the favourite winter flowers, December blooms anyway... I say this now just wait until the Hippeastrum flowers are 'in floribus' then I'm sure I'll say the same about the 'Amaryllis'. Anyway no Christmas without the Hyacinths. I'm so glad that non in my family is allergic to it.
Blue Hyacinth in the soft daylight of December.
Today it is the day before the day before the day...before the day.
Winter solstice! Sing Halleluja
Wild Sweet Pea from Sicily
This post 'Wild Sweet Pea from Sicily' was originally uploaded by Tyra in the blog Tyra's Garden
Sicilian Wild Sweet Pea , Heirloom
Lathyrus odoratus "Franciscus Cupani"
An old heritage variety from 1699, scattered with medium sized flowers in violet and purple. Absolutely wonderful fragrance. In this northern climate we sow the seeds in March-June, it takes 10-30 days to germinate, blooms from June to the first frost, 5 feet tall. Likes a sunny position of course when bearing in mind where it comes from.
Chiltern Seeds "Rather surprisingly, for such a well-known flower, the origins of Lathyrus odoratus are shrouded in mystery and its country of origin is not known. The flower was first introduced into this country (UK) from Sicily in 1699 where wild specimens have also been collected relatively recently. In addition, similar plants have been collected in South America, but all these are suspected of being garden escapes. From these “original” plants were developed what were known as the grandiflora but are now generally called the Old-Fashioned Sweet Peas."
Siciliansk Vildluktärt (kulturarv)
Lathyrus odoratus "Franciscus Cupani"
Ett årig kulturarvssort från 1699 (?) den är nog betydligt äldre men den importerades till England då. Plantan översållas av halvstora blommor i violett och purpur. Fullkomligt underbar doft.
Så den i Mars-Juni, det tar 10-30 dagar att gro, Blommar Juni till och enda till det att frosten tar den, gillar soligt läge förstås (sicilien ) blir omkring 150 cm hög. Du kan finna frö hos Impecta.
It is Blooming Friday and Katarina askes What is the favourite in your garden now? Katarina shows us some of her lovely roses.
My favourite is a 'monk'
Chop,Chop and Slash
..
Killer queen that's me...
We are going to get the first frost tonight and I'm not at all happy about it. The frost really ruins everything, I have so many more things to harvest and no time....
Today I had to kill all the lovely dahlias in my potager, chop and slash. I felt very brutal when I armed with garden fork, scissors and secateurs massacred all my poor poor Dalhias. Now they are laying in black plastic boxes just like in a morgue with a name-tag tied around them. I was able though...(sigh) to save some blooms that I put indoors in vases to get a lovely blooming Friday...
If you are wondering what is earth I have on my kitchen table it is Cantharellus tubaeformis that I'm drying for later use. Below you find a picture from the woods of the little delicatessen.
Plum marmalade with Yogi tea
This post 'Plum marmalade with Yogi tea' was originally uploaded by Tyra in the blog Tyra's Garden
Blooming Friday with Plums and Sweetpeas
~~~

Plum marmalade with a Jamaican touch.

This is what you need; 6,5 pounds of plums, about 6dl/20fl.ounces of water, Rom, 1 red hot chilli pepper, YOGI tea and 17,5 ounces of sugar with pectin.

And this is how you prepare it.

6,5 lbs of plums and about 6dl/20fl.ounces of water just enough to keep it simmering nicely without burning. Simmer for an hour. After 45 min. pour in a ‘splash’ (½dl) of Rom, add a piece of finely chopped red hot chilli pepper and at last 1 tablespoon of YOGI tea the ‘Jamaica blend’ which contains a lot of lovely herbs and spices, Chicory, cinnamon cassia, barley malt, carob, cardamom, black pepper, licorice, blessed thistle. Now to the sugar, add 500 gram/ 17,5 ounces of sugar with pectin and simmer for 5 min.

The Sweet pea Lathyrus odoratus a most welcome September flower in my garden, it has this wonderful scent that I love so much, it reminds my of my grandma's garden.

Luktärtens doft är så underbar tycker jag... den påminner mej om min mormors trädgård. Den sprider skönhet och väldoft i min trädgård så här i september månad.

The last lily of the season

This post 'The last lily of the season' was originally uploaded by Tyra in the blog Tyra's Garden

It was raining this morning when I went for my morning round in the garden. There are still some lovely blooms to enjoy, roses, dahlias and this the last lily of the season. The lilies has been incredible this year and this is the last one out...a bit sad, it has a different but lovely colouring this lily hasn't it.

~~~
Det regnade i morse när jag tog min lilla runda i trädgården. Liljorna mina har varit fantastiska i år och den här lilla skönheten är sist ut. Lite annorlunda färgkombination tycker jag, läcker ellerhur? Det är blommig fredag igen...helt otroligt vad fort en vecka går.
Älskade Pellar!
It is Blooming Friday and I just want to show you some of my Geraniums in the greenhouse. I think they are so lovely, they really add colour to the otherwise rather green greenhouse.
Ett litet bidrag till Blomming Fredag. Det blir lite pellar från växthuset. Jag tycker de är så underbara, de verkligen är som små färgklickar i det annars väldigt gröna växthuset. Tävk så tacksamma de är också och inte kostar de en förmögenhet heller.
Zinnia elegans 'Whirligig fun'
This post, 'Zinnia elegans 'whirligig fun' was originally uploaded and written by Tyra at the blog Tyra's Garden http://waxholm.blogspot.com/
Blooming friday at Katarina's Roses and stuff - Katarina askes "Have you anything in your garden that pleases you extra much? - Please write and tell us about it "
Well Katarina it must be the Zinnia elegans.
I haven’t got many of my favourite flowers(Zinnia) in my garden this year unfortunatly, something accidently happened….I killed my seedling! However here I have one gorgeous Zinnia elegans ‘Whirligig fun’ that survived the massacre.
July in Tyra's Garden - Juli i Tyras Trädgård
Collage 'July'
Det är blommig fredag och Katarina frågade:
Har du något i din trädgård som gläder dig extra mycket?
Zinnia elegans ' Whirligig fun' blev mitt svar. Jag sådde en hel massa Zinnias men det hände något...Jag tog faktiskt död på de flesta :-( Tja det är sådant som händer ibland, det var ju så nedrans torrt. Jag önskar er alla en trevlig helg.
I wish you all a lovely weekend.
I'm gonna weigh anchor and go sailing for a few days...
The magnificiant fragrant Malus silvestris var. parapisiaca tree is in full bloom right now and in the evenings it fills the air with a most wonderful scent.
Pears at the top 1. Bartlett (also called a Yellow Bartlett, known as the Williams outside North America) 2. Red Bartlett (organic; presumably a Red Williams in other countries) 3. Red Bartlett (several distinct varieties are called "red bartletts"; not sure store's name is correct but that's what it was labeled) 4. D'Anjou 5. Bosc (organic) 6. Comice 7. Concorde 8.
