Happy New Year!

I wanted to stop in really quickly to wish you all a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!!!

We're heading to a friends house to ring in the new year. I ask you, is there anything better than ringing in the new year with family and friends? :)

Got a quick card to share for the Waltzing Mouse sketch challenge and the Curtain Call color challenge.

I tried my hand at a fan fold flower - there's a video tutorial HERE. I've seen these beauties cropping up all over the place so it was about time to give it a go :)

Enjoy family, friends and be thankful for all the blessings in your life :) I hope y'all are better at keeping your resolutions than I am - LOL!!! 2011 New Year's Resolution: "Must do better job of keeping New Year's resolutions".  Here's to a wonderful 2011!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Curtain call: Act 59

Scroll down or click HERE for my JUGS post :)

When I saw the awesome colors for the Curtain Call color challenge, I immediately thought of holly and the fantastic french knots that I saw on Maile Belle's blog HERE (well, it's actually her tutorial but she's used it on a number of fabulous cards).

See how cute they are?! I was on a masking roll when I made this card, also a technique I've seen Maile use (she really does make really breath-taking, CAS cards!).

The base cardstock is actually grey but it does look black in the photo. A fun, simple card - I love when a stamp set can be used for so many purposes like this Turning a New Leaf set from PTI :) This card would certainly be easy to mail too giving that it's quite flat. It could also easily be a single layer card.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

I really dislike being sick

I often forget that with this gorgeous, utterly pleasant time of year is accompanied by an unpleasant cohort - cold and flu season. Yep, I have managed to find a virus that has set up shop and called me home. Yuck. I'm in a bit of a fog but I'll do my best to stay coherent :)

To distract me while my cold medications kick in, I'll share a bright and cheery card I made this weekend. I'm playing along with the latest lovely Curtain Call Color Challenge using this week's awesome Waltzingmouse Sketch.

I made these cute little paper flowers using PTI's beautiful blooms III dies. I curled the petals by wrapping them around the metal part of an embossing tool. Wish I could say it was my idea :) I took the inspiration from Lisa Somerville with THIS absolutely fabulous card. I drew a square using a red Spica pen, leaving a small opening for the sentiment. Then I masked off the edges, stamped polka dots in versa mark and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. A subtle, neat effect, seen a little better in the next photo.

This card also qualifies for Little Red Wagon challenge, which is to use 3 of something on your card.

That's it for me. My Nyquil is kicking innnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.......... :)

Have a good one! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Candy corn!

For my JUGS post, click HERE :)

At the risk of sounding like a curmudgeon, I'm going to say I'm not really a Halloween person. I mean, I like it well enough and I love seeing kids decked out in their costumes, but as for dressing up myself... meh.  I used to love it as a kid and even into my early twenties; not so much anymore. I think if we had children I would really love it all over again, but until that day, I will remain "meh" about Halloween :)
I do love seeing all the Halloween projects made by all my fellow bloggers though! There's some amazingly talented people out there. So much talent, in fact, I was inspired to give Halloween another shot :)
I made a card for the lovely Annabelle Sketch Challenge using this week's fantastic Curtain Call colors.

Here's a close up...

I used Clear and Simple Spooky Sweets for the candy corn and sentiments. I colored the candies with Copics, cut too out and popped them up for dimension. On closer inspection of my candy corn I can see the one on the left is mildly askew - Oops :) I did use grey and black - the grey is the card base and mat for the orange - it looks a bit dark in the photo so I thought I'd mention it :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Wishing you sunshine

Love that sentiment :)

My folks have headed back to Canada so the hubs and I are alone again :( We had a wonderful visit - it was so great to have them around. If that weren't enough, my vacation is at an end - boo! I drowned my sorrows in paper crafting, which was nice as I haven't been able to spend much time in my little sanctuary in a while.

With my parents headed back home and my vacation ending, I figured I could use some sunshine :)

This card is for the latest Curtain Call color challenge. I used this week's FTL111 sketch too.

I've wanted to make a little sunshiny scene for so long and I'm not sure why I haven't gotten around to it until now. I used the kraft to make sandy dunes :) Ohhh, so wish I was at a beach right now :) I stamped the sun on lemon zest cardstock in versarmark and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I cut a cloud from white felt. I adhered both of these to white cardsotck that was sponged with blue ink. I used a white gel pen to draw dotted lines on the hills. Overall, I was pretty happy with how it turned out :)

That's all for me today. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Crafting again :)

I had a few hours of quality time in the craft room today. Even though I've been on vacation, I've managed to stay busy. Spencer's recovery has not gone as smoothly as I'd hoped - his incision has developed an infection and broken down... ugh! So we have to have his bandages changed every day, in addition to more medications, in hopes that we will see some evidence of healing at the surgery site. He's a trooper though and is putting up with all this not-so-fun attention.

I made a card using the latest Clean and Simple FTL sketch and my first attempt at the Curtain Call color challenge!

Hope all is well with all my bloggin' buddies!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
