flax field

flax flied flax flied flax flied flax flied

Wednesdag evening walk just 10 minutes from home.

Summer evening light and the beautiful glow of the flax field.

Flax (Linum usitatissimum), also known as common flax or linseed, is a member of the genus Linum in the family Linaceae. It is a food and fiber crop cultivated in cooler regions of the world. Textiles made from flax are known in Western countries as linen, and are traditionally used for bed sheets, underclothes, and table linen. Its oil is known as linseed oil.

The flowers are pure pale blue, 15–25 mm in diameter, with five petals. The fruit is a round, dry capsule 5–9 mm in diameter, containing several glossy brown seeds shaped like an apple pip, 4–7 mm long.

The tiny blue flowers on my top actually look like flax flowers. And the graceful cropped flower top was a gift from my lovely daughter Pippa.

slow summer evening

slow down slow down slow down

Summer is not over yet...
We are enjoying one of the last August summer evenings.

The turtle pillow was a project I already started in May and it truly turned out to be a S L O W project!

Between the pile of unfinished projects, the turtle emerged and I finally took the time to finish the slow turtle pillow last week.

Isn't he cute, chilling on the daybed?

fish on the fence friday

fish on the fence fish eye fish on the fence

Yay, it's Friday!

The last June days have been amazing. We had some long summer evenings this week. Staying outside until sunset.

The cool wooden fish on the garden fence we found last year in Sesimbra on our Portugal road trip. Those are the best souvenirs.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and thumbs up for many more long summer evenings in the garden!

The french geraniums in our backyard are blooming all summer long. Last night they looked like summer has just begun. Yay for late summer evenings!
