cluttercore maart 2024 maart 2024

Cluttercore. A colourful collection of memories, colours, patterns and designs, that together form a personal style.

Our interior isn't about what's trendy or good taste, but solely what we think is worth displaying and about personal items that we've have collected over the years.

cold crisp day

handmade fingerless mittens handmade fingerless mittens handmade fingerless mittens

We cycled to town for a coffee to go and pastel de nata at Nobel's Brood this morning.
On the first really cold and crisp day, warm wool mittens were no luxury on the bike.

The first handmade pairs of the diagonal striped mittens collection are ready. (only have to weave in the loose ends, the least fun part)

The black & white tweed yarn mittens, like the ones i'm wearing, and another antracite grey & white tweed yarn pair, are already for sale in my Etsy shop.

The rest of the tiny collection ready-made fingerless mittens, will be added soon.

I'm an addict of woolen winter accessories; throw in a beanie, mittens and scarf and i’m good to go. How about you?

odd objects

ceramic wall vase ceramic wall vase ceramic wall vase ceramic cigale wall vases

Do you recognize this? Being pleasantly surprised by an unexpected shop window.

We spotted a very cool collection of odd objects in a shop window in the Voorstraat of our hometown.

An enormous gathering of animal wall vases, not only the usual cigale, but also swallows, butterflies, dragonflies, beetles... and many other curious stuff and odd objects.

Pooh, it was difficult to choose between all those beautiful and cute wall vases and we allowed ourselves to choose 3 ceramic pieces.

Well we have found a nice spot on the wall for all three of them;

a brightly colored beautiful butterfly in the kitchen
a extraordinary swallow in the bedroom
and another ceramic cigale to join our collection in the living room

slow fashion & sustainable souvenirs

slow fashion sustainable moroccan souvenirs

Even before the term 'slow fashion' existed, I was already acting this way.

I always preferred original, beautiful and quality fashion to enjoy in a responsible and sustainable way.

Developing a personal, timeless style, is essential to avoid getting sucked into the madness of chasing after the latest trends.

Many items of my clothes- and shoes collection I already have for years, sometimes more than 20 years.

Although some of you might see me as 'Imelda Marcos', in reality it is not that excessive.

The same rule as it comes to interior objects. I try to follow the sustainable style, by buying for example timeless interior souvenirs.

sunglasses archive

sunglasses archive sunglasses archive sunglasses archive sunglasses archive

With the purchase of two new sunglasses this season, my 'mini sunglasses suitcase' was completely packed and they didn't fit in anymore.

A vintage rotatable spectacle rack would be a good solution for the expanding collection, so I went looking for it, yet without result.

Then suddenly I realized that we still have a vintage postcard rack in the attic, I found 3 of them in a bulky waste container years ago.

The frames fit exactly into the 'landscape postcard' side of the rack. I love these creative solutions, re-using what you already have.

13 sunglasses, it may seem like a lot, however collected over the years. A new one every year, sometimes two ;-) and prescription sunglasses have been added.

Summer ain't over yet!

oodles of palms

Oodles of palms.

When it comes to collecting, I'm sure I'm guilty of it.

Lately I noticed that there are pretty much palm trees in the house, yet unobtrusive many palm trees. At least that's my opinion.

What is too much?

To me it feels organically grown over time, through travel, special souvenirs, handmade items, clothing and gifts from friends that know your 'palmtree passion'.

I arranged my ‘palm objects’ in a tiny palmtree photo report. And I have to admit I couldn't find so quickly photos of the metal moroccan palmtree hanger in the bedroom and the palmtree frisbee in the living and...

open doors

open doors open doors open doors

Daily routine.

Unpacking the dishwasher.
Open the kitchen cupboard doors and put everything back in place.
Nothing special, a daily recurring activity.
Yet I can see the 'fun' of this daily routine.
All the personal things, the mix of colors, the collections...

and when everything is back in place, close the doors again, because I'm allergic to open doors.
