handmade wooly cardigan woodwoolstool wooly cardigan rotterdam maas[bike]tunnel wood & woodwoolstool wooly cardigan

Ever had to say goodbye to a favorite item of clothing because of torn pieces or gaping hole?

Why throw something away, while it can also be repaired?

I once gave this handmade wooly cardigan to my friend Ank, when I was about to leave Marrakech and almost melted in my wooly cardigan. I was wearing it because I'm always cold on the plane and it didn't fit in my hand luggage.

We were saying goodbye at Mohammed's taxi and I said to Ank, you can keep this cardigan, I'll make a new one.

It became her favorite cardigan and she often wore it on chilly evenings in Marrakech. However her dog loved the sheepish garment too and played with it once a little too roughly...

She brought the damaged cardigan and asked me if I could fix it. I forgot about the 'repair project', but now I'm making a loopy patch to hide the hole.

Although I've made quite some loopy cardigans in the past, I somehow forgot how much fun working the loop stitch is.

I'm still wearing my loopy cardigan every now and then, even though it's already quite old. It's a piece that doesn't go out of style and feels wonderful soft and warm to wear.

If you al looking for a new crochet project, you can download the crochet pattern in my ETSY SHOP. And if you don't fancy 'loud' loops, you can also wear it inside out.

oh ombre

ombre baby waistcoat ombre baby waistcoat ombre baby waistcoat

Oh ombre!

Finished the ombre baby waistcoat I started yesterday.

It really is a piece of cake and made within a few hours.

For this mini crochet project I've selected 4 colors from the wool stock; tweed yarn from natural to gray to black.

Cool color palette for a tough baby and the expectant mother (my niece from London) liked the sneak preview I send her ;-)

Yesterday I posted the dusty pink baby waistcoat and was in the mood to make another one. The color inspiration came naturally, standing in front of my wool cabinet. I love how the darker hues fade.

Do you fancy to make wooly waistcoat for an anno 2019 baby? You can download the pattern in my ETSY SHOP.

I will certainly make a few more for '2019 babies' in our friends & familie circle.

bling & yang

Once more no traditional Christmas items overhere, but instead unexpected and unusual December decorations. Our 'x-mas space' consists of opposing but complementary objects.

Christmas will be bling and also yang.
On one side bling; gold, glitter and over the top 'bad taste' with a wink.
On the other yang; exotic animals, natural materials, authenticity and obviously some green.

faded flowers

garden flowers vintage vase

The last garden flowers of the year, which are already faded but still pretty.

This field bouquet with nigella damascene, corn flowers and coriander flowers, I picked last week from the Villa Augustus garden. And hey, 2018 has been a lush floral year! I can not remember a year, the flowers in the garden bloomed so abundantly and flowering lasted until mid-November.

From now on we get the flowers from the auction.

I'm not only fond of flowers, I also love vases, as you may have noticed.

The painted vintage flower vase is also from Villa Augustus. I bought it in the market shop where I work 3 days a week. It's always hard to resist special items like these. I've set myself a rule, that I can never buy something impulsively. I have to wait at least one week, until I proceed to a purchase. Simply because you don't have to buy everything you like right?... And often the need is much less after a week, I know from experience. It is a great rule if you work in a nice shop like the Villa Augustus market shop, where almost daily beautiful new stuff comes in.

This unique vintage vase stared at me, and even now I kept to the 'wait a week' rule...

Well I cheated a little bit, because I put a 'reserved' sticker on it.

So the painted vase has found it's place in my new studio (under construction) and I love it, even without flowers in it, still beautiful.

palmtree pattern

cool crochet project

A new cool crochet summer project.

You can download the PALMTREE PATTERN in my Etsy shop.

The palmtree pattern I've designed, is made in filet crochet and you can it use as a curtain (back to the seventies) or as a wall hanging.

I've made it with a unbleached cotton, but you can also use any another yarn.

captivating corner

captivating corner

While I am washing my hands, my eye catches the natural colors of the simple utensils and the light, in the corner of the sink.

I'm very visual and can be overwhelmed by a feeling of bliss all of a sudden, by the appeal of 'something simple'.

Our kitchen, an easy, real life space with stuff collected over time.
Kitchen utensils with functionality and personality;
The simplicity of two cutting boards against the kitchen wall.
A small twig, in a soda bottle, because it was just too small to join the magnolia bouquet.
and the shades of the tiles, which seem to change every moment of the day...

and I realise, I'm glad to enjoy the simple things.
(even though it is sometimes exhausting to see 'everything' and to capture the moment afterwards with my camera, haha..)

100% wool

wood & wool cabinet

Dille & Kamille (dill & chamomile) is one of my favorite Dutch concept stores.
The wonderful mix of sustainable products, all with a natural simplicity, are timeless.

It's simply impossible for me to leave the Dille & Kamille shop without buying anything.

I've bought some 100% wool balls in their shop in Rotterdam some weeks ago.
I chose the nude colors, but they are all very pretty.

Although I'm still working on the black knitted sweater dress, I started a 100% wool crochet-side-project today.
The balls were calling, from the cupboard on my desk, when I was working ;)

to be continued...
