his side

waking up in 2020 waking up in 2020 waking up in 2020 waking up in 2020 waking up in 2020 waking up in 2020

Waking up in 2020.

The first thing i often think when i wake up is, i was hoping 'it' was all a bad dream...

I don't get used to this weird year 2020.

We try to make the best of it every day and can only wait and see.
Sometimes I just want to sleep and wake up in 2021 and start all over again with a clean slate.

However it may be, I still enjoy our new bedroom every single day. The room has a inspiring, soothing eclectic atmosphere and infuses me with fresh ideas.

I've got quiet a few comments, that I never showed 'his side of the bed', when we moved into our new bedroom. We both secretly chose our side of the bed.

You know my side of the bed, with the componibili design classic by Kartell and the vintage toucan lamp.

Well finally here some pictures from Henk's side, haha...

He chose a cobalt blue steel round table and a small modern metal table lamp that excels in its simplicity.

All seemingly flow quite nicely together!

The paper storage box is found in Breda and I'm in love with the color and illustration and decided to use it for my 'outfit-prints'.

checkered woodwoolstool

The prototype (my first woodwoolstool anno 2007) and the latest size cute mini stool, identically dressed.

I've made a new checkered cover for the prototype.

Photographed together for the occasion in front of the painting in our bedroom.

hyacinth fragrance all over the place

hyacinths hyacinths

You should smell the fragrance of hyacinths in the kitchen and bedroom.

Henk brought out a bucket full of it from a tiny local flower shop and arranged the flowers in the vase d'Avril and the leftovers got a spot on my bedside table.

xs woodwoolstool - checkered crochet cover

xs woodwoolstool - checkered crochet cover xs woodwoolstool - checkered crochet cover xs woodwoolstool - checkered crochet cover xs woodwoolstool - checkered crochet cover xs woodwoolstool - checkered crochet cover

A new xs woodwoolstool design in size cute!

The moroccan stool is handmade of eucalyptus wood from Essaouira.

I made a brandnew cover, with white and pastel colors of the softest moroccan yarn, for the handmade mini-stool.

The checkered crochet cover is inspired on my favorite old Vans and I'm in love with it!

The xs stool is perfect for toddlers, the nursery, as a footstool and you can even use it as a small (bedside) table.

Toddlers love this piece of furniture! They can drag this size-cute stool anywhere themselves.

Have a look at the size-cute xs woodwoolstool collection in my ETSY SHOP, this checkered cutie will be available from Saturday 9th of May.

kingsday 2020

kingsday 2020 kingsday 2020 kingsday 2020 kingsday 2020 kingsday 2020

For the first time in history the Dutchies celebrated King's Day mainly in and around the house.

Due to the corona crisis, no traditional 'Orange' parties, no free-markets, no festivals. Most of us stayed at home and in our backyards.

The 27th of April was like a summer day in spring, probably the most beautiful weather in decades.

We raised the flag and took a short walk nearby. The roadsides are full of flowers nowadays and I picked some wild flowers.

It's the little things these days...

color story

color story his side of the bed color story

Color story of the new bedroom.

And yes, my first painting made it into the bedroom!

Moreover Henk surprised me with a cool Majorelle blue table, on his side of the bed.
As agreed, we both bought 'our side of the bed' part separately.

The room is awesome, things go together so well. We hadn't really planned this in advance, but it worked out well.

spring cleaning

spring cleaning spring cleaning spring cleaning spring cleaning

Being homebound for the upcoming weeks, is bringing me also in a major spring cleaning mood.

You all know me a bit, i get bored of the same old look so i like to change things up now and then. I took spring cleaning to another level.

So I ordered some lilac fabric paint to re-use one of our 'boring' white duvet covers. I think this could be a cool combination with the moroccan pink panelled wall behind our bed in the new bedroom.

So I dyed the duvet cover and pillow cases in the washing machine. Exicting experiment.

I was curious about the result of the lilac color as it is quite a large piece of fabric, so I watched the washing program for the first 5 minutes.

Mission lilac was successful.

I will paint the wooden floor tomorrow. The white paint can dry for a few days and after the weekend we can continue with the best part, decorating our new bedroom.

and Minne called me Laa-Laa yesterday, because my outfit reminded him of the yellow teletubby...

moroccan pink is making a comeback

stayhome challenge moroccan pink is making a comeback - stayhome challenge moroccan pink is making a comeback - stayhome challenge

While we’re quarantined, we planned to move from our cozy attic bedroom to Minne's bedroom, the master bedroom.

It is the largest and lightest bedroom in our house.

When we moved in our house in 2004, Minne & Pippa both chose the larger rooms on the first floor and we liked the cozy attic bedroom.

Minne found his own apartment just before the whole corona crisis started overhere.
Our plan was to slowly try out if we maybe should move to the first floor and sleep some nights in Minne's room to test it.

However we already knew it right away, when the room was almost empty. Let's go for the spacious room and let's use the quarantine period to create a new beautiful master bedroom. We have plenty of time...

We are very attached to the blue & white wooden panels behind our bed. Once they were beachhouse doors. Those vintage doors will stay in the attic, which will be our future guest room.

So time to get started, a creative #stayhome challenge!

We started with a panelled wall behind our bed, this to approach the atmosphere of the headboard in our current attic bedroom.

Furthermore, we will both choose our own bedside table and table lamp. We thought it would be a nice idea, to seperately and secretly choose 'our side of the bed'. So it will be a surprise what will come in front of the panelled wall.

The world map wall painting made by Henk in 2004, will stay and the other furniture in the room we will 'shop from our stock'.

The Moroccan pink on the wall is making a comeback. This color once adorned our kitchen, still love it!

The wooden floor needs to be painted and we are not in a hurry at all. Hence, for the time being we will still sleep on the attic.

PS: the paint was not completely dry when I took the photos and the moroccan pink actually is even prettier now!
