The yarns we brought from Marrakech last April.
Now they finally have a dignified place and color the room!
Until that time they were waiting...
It was only a small job (piece of cake) Why it took so long? I wouldn't know.
The colors look smashing on the homemade coat rack!

iron floor
We booked a room in the former water reservoir.
The typical iron bottom of the water basin is still visible and touchable [watch your toes!]
The hotel room has surprising details, like a staircase to the bathroom on the lower floor.
Bathing in the tub, you can play with your yellow bath duck or looking out across the rivers of Dordrecht [through the charming round window].
We had a delicious dinner, slept wonderfully and enjoyed every minute! And yes, you can have that real 'weekend break feeling' in your domicile.

californian baby
I'm curious what cute californian baby clothes will hang on those hangers.
This colorful set is a maternity gift for a newborn baby in California. How sweet is that?

measuring tape
Last week at Piet Hein Eek, we scored a vintage stool [seems my innate habit].
With some measuring tape around [the red makes it], it's the umpteenth cute coffee table in tha house.

saturday in dordrecht
An 'ordinary' Saturday.
After a day of work in the market at Villa Augustus, my love picked me up by bike.
Together we visited Lammie in her shop (Lammie Verkoopt) and the rooftop of umbrellas in the Vriesestraat.
At the bookstore I bought the new magazine MilK decoration and I'm going to read it now (with my feet on the sofa...)

Before we had lunch at Radio Royaal, we first made a PHE tour.

radio royaal
Today we had lunch at Radio Royaal in Eindhoven. (around the corner at Piet Hein Eek)
What was once an old Philips energy house, is now a restaurant.
Flooded with daylight and unpolished industrial design.
We were pleasantly surprised by the purity.
Here's a visual Radio Royaal report.

what's on the kitchen table?
Dahlias (after a few days still in full bloom) I really had to photograph them once more.
Turquoise nail polish (beautiful in the bottle, hmmm 'different' on my nails)
The typewriter (for a few small notes)
Coffee (what else?)
A plate with 'candy' fruits and vegetables

typewriter
A typewriter,
found at the flea market.
bought for next to nothing,
It's everyone's new toy in the house.
A vintage Brother deluxe 1300, with briefcase (including name label of the former owner Trudy) and a description with original inspection report.
I feel like sending someone an original typed letter on flower seed paper.

carryall
My old trusty bag is just about to fall apart, after years of daily heavy use.
Finding a good replacement wasn't easy.
The new bag must satisfy these requirements;
- baggy
- made of leather
- easy cool color
- not looking brand new
- not ridiculously expensive
- long handles
- and the most important: a bag that can carry all!
I've found it!

walk on wood
Whether you like it or not, the boots season is coming!
Yesterday in the early morning, on my bike to work, I regretted my wrist worm-less hands.

[citroen] & [olijf]
...are the Dutch words for [lemon] & [olive]
The possibilities of wood & word signs seem infinite.
These wood & word signs I've made for someone else's kitchen. (although I liked them on my kitchen wall)
I've a tray with the finest scrap wood pieces to choose from.
Stamped with a catchy text it makes a perfect highly personal gift.

the last days of summer
Today we fully enjoyed all Yvestown Fair posts and moreover we've enjoyed one of the last days of summer.
The garden doors were wide open and we stayed outside until the last sunbeams went and the first mosquitoes arrived.

the yvestown fair
Yesterday was a huge success! Great audience, lovely summer weather, most charming fair participants and a relaxed atmosphere. Yvonne had everything perfectly organized (thanks again!). Everyone was having a great time and I hope it will become an annual Yvestown Fair tradition!

villa augustus 5th anniversary book
Villa Augustus 2007 - 2012
The Villa Augustus 5th anniversary book "Queens of the secret garden" is a 'love song' to anyone who works or has worked in Villa Augustus.
Since the opening in June 2007, I'm enchanted by the place.
Back home they asked me how it was and I started to cry spontaneously for it was overwhelmingly beautiful.
In July 2007 I started my job at the hotel reception in the water tower and halfway I switched to the market.
Working at Villa Augustus is a pretty fine job or in Buddha's words;
"Joyful is the accumulation of good work."
The book (with a contribution of 20 artists who stayed in the Secret Garden room) expresses the VA atmosphere and experience superbly.
The makers Dorine de Vos & Andrea Piersma have made the perfect VA book and court-photographer Ries van Wendel de Joode has visualized VA, just the way it is.
There is a limited edition for sale.
So hurry to the market shop!

alice in wonderland
These twin stools are en route to Vila Alice into the fairytale surroundings of Lake Bled, Slovenia.
