Each week, the Watcher's Council holds a contest for best post. The Council members submit a post they have written and one post by someone outside the Council for consideration. The Watcher tallies the votes and announces the winners each Friday.
And the winners are:

This was the week of Laer, proprietor of the Cheat-Seeking Missiles blog. He won the council vote and his submission in the non-council category won also. I was one of those voting for his Council post, McCain’s Needed New Messaging Strategy. Laer thinks McCain needs to revamp how he communicates. I could not agree more. Coming in second place was my post, A Doddering Fool, about the incredibly disingenuous and hypocritical Sen. Chris Dodd, a man who is at the center of the subprime crisis.
In the Non-Council category, the winner was from the American Thinker - Barack Obama and the Strategy of Manufactured Crisis. Tied for second place was ShrinkWrapped's - Everything Is New Under The Sun. That post tied with St Louis C of CC's Obamination: Obama Supporters Bob McCulloch, Jennifer Joyce Threaten to Prosecute People For Criticizing Obama
The post I submitted was Dinah Lord's Then The Gods Of The Market Tumbled . . ., a great explanation of credit default swaps gumming up our credit market.

Watcher's Council Nominations On The Eve Of The Palin-Biden Debate
Submissions this week come at a time when there is much turmoil in the financial markets and the media continues its attempts to undermine John McCain and Sarah Palin. An explanation on how far the media will go to undercut the Republicans is that PBS VP debate moderator is Gwenn Ifill is a Palin critic. Even more alarming is that Ifill stands to gain financially from a book she wrote if Barack Obama wins the election. The book is due out on inaguration day. This week's nominations are:First up, we have a vacancy on the Watcher's Council. If you would like to join, please visit the Watcher's site. You will find a link to instructions on how to apply on the right sidebar of the site.
Each week, the members of the Watcher's Council nominate one of their own posts and a second from outside the Council for consideration by other council members in a contest for best post. The Watcher publishes the results each Friday morning. There is never an organized theme to our submissions, but more often than not many posts cover different aspects of the same topic. Having looked at the submissions, the Watcher has commented upon the week that was and the weeks submissions:

Watcher's Council Results
Each week, the Watcher's Council holds a contest for best post. The Council members submit a post they have written and one post by someone outside the Council for consideration. The Watcher tallies the votes and announces the winners each Friday.
And the winners are:
_________________________________________________________
In the Council category was my choice for first place, The Glittering Eye's Don’t Just Do Something, Stand There. I disagree strongly with the some of Dave's conclusions, but it was a well written, researched and reasoned post. Coming in second place was a very thoughtful post from The Razor, A Lack of Clarity.
In the Non-Council category, the winning post was submitted by Joshuapundit, The Jawa Report's Hope, Change, & Lies: Orchestrated “Grassroots” Smear Campaigns & the People that Run Them. Coming in second place was a post submitted by Hillbilly White Trash, Private Papers' Palin and Obama: What Really Is Wisdom?.

Watcher's Council's Winners: Finding Our Identity Seven Years After 9-11
Each week, the Watcher's Council holds a contest for best post. The Council members submit a post they have written and one post by someone outside the Council for consideration. The Watcher tallies the votes and announces the winners each Friday. This from the Watcher on this weeks voting:
Seven years after the horrible events of 9/11 we are in the midst of another Presidential campaign. The 2008 campaign is one steeped in identity politics; a fact that has not been lost on the Watchers Council.
Both of this weeks’ winning entries discuss the various aspects of identity politics comparing the Democratic Party approach of nominating a man as a Presidential candidate largely based on the color of his skin and strong liberal beliefs to the VP choice of the GOP that nominated a woman with executive experience and a foundation in conservative values. The contrasts couldn’t be greater.
The fact that the emphasis on this campaign season largely pits the top Democratic spot to that of the GOP undercard highlights just how much identity politics factors into the strategies of each party seeking the nation’s acceptance. (As a side note, many are wondering if the dems will kick Biden off the ticket to negate the Palin effect that has drawn women and undecideds to the right. This is getting interesting. What a great year for political junkies.)
Please enjoy this weeks winning entries.
And the winners are:
_________________________________________________________
In the Council category, my post Standing At The Crossroads - Identity Politics, Multiculturalism & The Melting Pot, took first place. It is an examination as to why the far left has become completely unhinged in their attacks on Gov. Palin, the canard that the left is the party of civil rights, and just what is at stake in this election.
Coming in second and third places were the two posts I voted for, both excellent essays. Coming in second was was Soccer Dad - An exceptional choice. He is not writing about Palin, but about John McCain and why Soccer Dad thinks him a man of incredible character and a very worthy selection as Republican nominee for President. I think the passage about Mo Udall says it all. Coming in third place was Joshua Pundit's The Game Changer - Duty, Honor, Country. Joshua Pundit writes about how the choice of Sarah Palin changes everything in this race and how she compliments McCain on the ticket.
In the Non-Council category, all winning choices dealt with aspects of the Sarah Palin pick for VP. Beldar Blog's Don’t Confuse Republicans’ thrill over the Palin nomination with the Dems’ worship of Obama: A reply to Paul Mirengoff came in first place. My submission, EU Referendum's The Awkwardness Of Truth came in tied for second with
RCP's The Media’s ‘Due Dilligence’. I would also highly recommend The Anchoress's post, Over Palin; not “hypocrisy,” you never knew us. It deals with the left's misconstruing of the religious right.
