KISS-Walk outside Whisky A Go-Go Los Angeles 2019-02-11

January 16, 1964 a small club on the Sunset Strip opened its doors for the first time. It was The Whisky a Go Go, the first ever live music venue to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame and the most iconic club of the Strip. Founded by Mario Maglieri, Elmer Valentine and Phil Tanzini – The Whisky had to spell its name without the ‘e’ in whiskey because Los Angeles city zoning laws didn’t allow any club to be named after alcohols (The Whisky constantly had problems with the city and for a while had the name “The Whisk?”). The world-famous Whisky a Go Go opened on Jan. 15, 1964 with a concert by Johnny Rivers. A DJ named Joanie Labine (the first DJ at The Whisky) played records in a booth that was suspended to the right of the stage in between Johnny Rivers’ sets. Labine entertained the crowd by dancing and the idea of the go-go dancer was born. Very soon a ‘costume’ of the go-go dancers also emerged: a girl wearing a short, fringed skirt and high, white boots: a trend that will spread to all discotheques and nightclubs all across the country

KISS- Detroit Rock City

"Detroit Rock City" é uma canção da banda americana de hard rock Kiss, lançada originalmente no álbum Destroyer, de 1976. Foi composta pelo guitarrista da banda, Ace Frehley e Bob Ezrin, e fala sobre um verdadeiro fã  dos Kiss, que morreu num acidente de carro a caminho de um concerto do grupo.

A canção, gravada e lançada como single no mesmo ano, foi o terceiro single do álbum. Como single acabou vendendo pouco e sendo pouco tocada nas rádios (com a excepção da própria cidade de Detroit); o seu lado B, "Beth", uma balada cantada pelo baterista Peter Criss, acabou fazendo sucesso em diferentes mercados locais dos Estados Unidos, e foi lançada então como single, com "Detroit Rock City" como lado B.

Durante a turné Love Gun/Alive II tour, Stanley mudou parte da letra, "I know I'm gonna die, why?" para "I know I'm gonna die, and I don't care!".

A canção chegou à sexta posição na lista de "40 melhores canções de Metal", da VH1,e também foi lançada no álbum Heavy Metal – The First 20 Years, lançado em 25 de Julho de 2006.

O título da canção foi usado num filme de 1999, no qual um grupo de fãs adolescentes da banda viajam a Detroit para a ver, em 1978.

Os Detroit Tigers, a equipa de beisebol da cidade, frequentemente colocam a canção nos estádios durante a entrada dos jogadores no início dos jogos.

Também faz parte da banda sonora do filme Role_Models" de 2009,e no filme The Dilemma, de 2011.
