Mother's Day

I trust all my mother friends had a very beautiful and blessed Mother's Day! I certainly was blessed yesterday and every day!

I tried to make it a special day for my mother and for our church ladies as well by setting up a setting up a little spot with memories and special items from mothers and grandmothers. I even included a mirror that belonged to my husbands grandmother and then his mother. She gave it to me several years ago and I have treasured it carefully.

I know that Mother’s Day is to celebrate your mother, and I do, (I even celebrate my mother in law) but what Mother’s Day really makes me feel like doing is celebrating motherhood! There is just nothing like it-it is my passion and calling in life. My children truly make mothering a joy! I got all choked up this morning over the mother’s version of “One Day at a Time” What a privilege and responsibility we have!!! I really cannot say how very thankful I am for my husband who has allowed me to be a full time mother. Sacrifices? Oh yes, plenty and the children don't have all the latest and greatest gadgets, but we like it that way.

🎼1. I’m only human, I’m just a mother. Lord help me believe in what I co
uld be and all that I am. Cookin’ and cleanin’ and bandaging knees, Lord for their sake, help me to take one day at a time.
🎼Chorus: One day at a time sweet Jesus, that’s all I’m asking from you. Just give me the strength to do every day what I have to do. They belong to you, sweet Jesus, but I really like calling them mine. Help me today, to show them the way one day at a time.
🎼 2. Do you remember, when you dwelt among men? Well Jesus, you know, if you’re looking below it’s worse now than then. But Lord, your still faithful, all of the time; so help them today, show them the way, one day at a time.

This year I found the "blessed" mugs at $ tree and then picked up fresh flowers to arrange in them as my gifts to our church ladies.

Happy Mothers Day to the momma God chose for me! He always, always, always knows what he’s doing. Momma will tell you that I am talented and fastidious and then will tell you that it came from the other side of the family, but herein she is wrong; if (large IF and BIG sigh) I possess any life skills worth mentioning at all, she is the responsible party because she always encouraged my efforts and cheered me on not just in those areas but in every other spiritual or material endeavor. Life has dealt her some physical storms, but she is brave and strong and kind and mine.

Here's a couple notes I jotted down the other day after reading a devotional from intouch ministries.
Hey moms! Mother’s Day is coming and on that note, lots of sermons and special get-togethers will center on the Proverbs 31 woman. Does she by chance intimidate you?? You might not be alone. The Proverbs 31 woman though, is no one’s competition. She’s not the biblical equivalent of a modern-day Pinterest queen whom women are charged by God to emulate. She’s a friend pointing us to the truth.
God makes it clear, through her, what He values most isn’t a woman’s myriad abilities... but a heart that is fully His.
We can set her up as an ideal that we struggle and dance around and try to attain in our life so maybe, just maybe, it will earn us the love and approval we’re longing for. God has already given us exactly what we need—we just need to learn to rest in Him.
I believe this woman is a picture of “choices” rather than mandates. Think about it, it’s just not humanly possible to do everything she did in one day let alone do it all and still have wisdom flow from your mouth at the end of the day. I don’t know about you, but all that comes out of my mouth at the end of some long days is a big yawn and yes, sometimes even a few harsh words.
Some of us are just good at certain things and others at another thing. We’re not better than each other: we are different from each other.
The virtuous woman might be a stay at home mom, a nurse, a real estate agent, a teacher, a singer, a professional photographer, accountant, or any other thing God has called her to be. She will respect others for their individual talents and callings and when one of her friends must by necessity do something they aren’t so good at, she will respect and encourage that too.
We don’t need cooking righteousness or business-success righteousness or well-behaved-children righteousness. We don’t need Instagram-worthy dinner-tablescape righteousness. That’s silly. These things don’t—and can’t—dictate the value of our souls.
The virtuous woman is free to succeed or fail in some areas and God loves and respects her either way. With our heavenly Father’s love and acceptance, regardless of what we accomplish, we have nothing to lose when following his will for our lives.
Single? Loved. Married? Loved. Tidy house? Loved. Disaster house? Loved. Tasty dinner? Loved. Too-burnt-to-salvage dinner? Loved. Knocked the workday out of the ballpark? Loved. Want to stay home in pj’s forever because of a tremendous fail? Loved. Loved. Loved. It’s the banner that extends over all our lives, and we are free to live under it—to shake off the striving, and to rest. Proverbs 31 describes an amazing woman, yes, but the picture isn’t of a woman working hard to find acceptance. Instead, these verses show a woman who knows the love and calling of her Father and lives in joyful freedom.

Hubby has been working from home for about a month now. He’s taken over my sewing/craft table in the walk-in closet until we can get his office completed. Today, he’s got some meetings etc around the valley and is out of office. I found this...guess he thought I’d miss him??
PS...
No, he doesn’t clean up after himself and yes sometimes it annoys me—but ladies, if your man works hard and sacrifices so you can do what you love (in my case being a full time homemaker)  and is faithful to your marriage (a rare trait these days it seems) just pick up the clothes already.

Saturday morning, long before the rest of the world was awake, hubby and I had to go get some sprinkler supplies and a few other things to finish off the church Mother’s Day gifts. I’d already got flowers for my window box and garden plants for my vegetable garden. That usually more than suffices for my Mother’s Day gifts, but hubby surprised me by telling me to pick out a couple of “extras.” I chose some succulents which I arranged in a planter for the table in our outdoor gazebo. He also got me a set of wind chimes and a hanging plant for this little outdoor paradise. He knows me so well!
Kayla also helped the kids get me the cutest "Mom" mug and matching notepad. They know I can't live without my many notes and lists. Of course some of my favorite gifts were the handwritten cards from my children. Kaite made a very special sacrifice and included $2.18 in hers. I love seeing their giving sacrificial hearts. Truly I have no greater joy!

And because what would a blog post without a Kaderick funny or two be?

Kaderick: “Papa, what are these?”
Papa: “Those are my spare glasses.”
Grandma: “Do you know what spare means Kaderick?”
Kaderick: “Yes, it means something you don’t need but you keep it laying around anyway.”

For about a week, my littles have done nothing but play outdoors. I was helping Kaderick get his bath last night when he told me that he’d made up a rhyme.
“I fell and skinned my knee
I ran into a tree
It was a rough day with nothing to do...

But I made it through.”
He did have skinned knees, and he did run smack into a tree with his head. He also told me that, “I’ve fallen on my knees before but it usually doesn’t do this much damage.”
I absolutely love his vocabulary.
...and underneath are the everlasting arms...Duet. 33:27
