My parents gave us about 5 dozen ears of corn. Not a ton, but way more than we can eat in one setting. Sooo....we froze it. I asked Rick to stop and buy me a big stock pot on the way home. When you tell him "big" he takes you seriously! He got me a BIG (33qt) canner. I had to place it over TWO lit burners, but it worked great! Love it!
I got some fake crows to decorate for fall. I have a thing for crows this year (don't ask). It's a scream to watch Kaite with them. She is scared to death of them, but can't seem to leave them alone.
Kayla took some pictures of her 'interaction' with them. I love the worried look on her face!
I had some great help with the corn. I don't really mind it at all, if I don't have to do the husking. I have a great family of 'cornhuskers'.

Tiny Talk Tuesday
My husband and I were having a friendly little discussion one day last week. Kalli, (8) sat there listening and then piped up and said, "I am learning about communication in school and this communication is getting a little out of hand I think."
You all know what a HUGE momma-baby babycakes (Kaite, 16 mo.) is. Saturday, we went to Rick's company picnic at Wahooz and Kaite took a liking to the Rookie-track cars. Of course she is much too little to ride, even as a passenger. That did not stop her from squirming down out of my arms and running off under the bars toward the cars yelling, "I ride. I ride!" For me, it was a little picture...she's a momma baby yes, but someday (in the blink of an eye it will seem) something-- or maybe someone--will be able to tear her from momma's arms. I'm thinking she's going to be smitten with 'his' car!
Kammy (4) has had more than one encounter with the scissor. In fact, she is downright impossible about it. We have had cut doll hair, horse hair, clothes, blankets and human hair. The girl LOVES to cut. It is getting cool here in the evenings, and last night she chose some warm pj pants she had worn last year. She was very upset at 'whoever' had cut the legs off. No one had...she is just growing!
Kammy (4) told her grandma after I had made her eat something she didn't want to eat, "I love my momma, but I just don't feel like she is the right one for me!"
We were walking into Kmart and Kammy spotted a bird above the doorway near the sign. She started saying, "He's pretty! He's pretty over and over and pointing ahead in front of us. I finally had to tell the man walking in ahead of us that she was talking about a bird, not about him!
Here is a link to another post I did this week, that includes some cute things the kids talked about.
My tinies and I have started back to school now and we are adjusting. I wasn't sure at all how it was going to work this year, but we are getting it together pretty well. I rather like working on a schedule. Here is the Back to School post, if you'd like to read about that.

Heaven...
What do you think of when you think of Heaven? I believe that heaven will be uniquely different for each one of us. It will have to be, for heaven to me, would not be heaven to you I am sure. I googled 'images' and 'heaven' trying to find an appropriate photo but, I think that photos I have of God's earthly creation better depict heaven than anything man can imagine. I suppose that makes perfect sense though, since God is the creater of heaven too. I like to think God struggled to hold himself back when he created this world, and there are some places where so much of his beauty shines through, that he must have gotten a little carried away. The beauty of this world must just be a tiny sampling of things to come, for the Bible says that it has not even entered into our imagination what heaven will be like!
That being said, my children have quite vivid imaginations. Today as we were eating Sunday dinner, Kammy informed us that tomorrow is the end of the world! I'm not really sure where she got that, unless maybe from the fact that when things go wrong, I tend to say, "It's not the end of the world". Anyway, it got the kids to talking about what heaven will be like. I though it was a little humerous (and probably somewhat accurate) what they thought MY heaven would be like.
1. Peaceful & Quiet.
Kammy knows that I enjoy some 'piece of quiet' every now and then. My idea of a mansion is a sweet little cabin surrounded by mountains and trees. Not to be disrespectful at all, but I dream of meeting Jesus first, alone and in the beauty of nature...a nature that sings his praise more beautifully by it's quiet that all the angels with their lovely chorus.
2. Sleepy.
Kalli said I would sleep for the first 1,000 years! They decided that after about a thousand years, I would wake up and take pictures. lol! They also thought that Kaite would have her own personal angel-nanny who would bring her to me about every thousand years for one day. (1,000 years being as one day).
3. Cool and rainy.
(Except for at night!) Rick said the temperatures in my part of heaven would have to be 108 at night when I was tired and 26 in the morning and throughout the day!
4. We didn't discuss this, but I so look forward to the day when our little family meets the part of our circle who has gone before. I imagine a tow-headed little boy of about 4, with dirt smudged upon on his cheeks running toward me. He has a puppy tucked under his arm, who somehow manages to squirm his way into our embrace and places wet, slobbery kisses on my neck while I plant the very first one on the head of my baby Karrick!
Ahhh.....Heaven!
It's going to be worth it ALL!!!
Disclaimer: Yes, there are contradictions. For one, we know that a person won't be tired in heaven, and will there really be dirt?!?! This is intended to be a humerous piece, yet without disrespect and with some very real truths.
