Back to School!

I really hope that you all know this blog is not a reflection on my skills as a teacher. Sometimes I look back and see gramatical or spelling errors that mortify me. The purpose of a blog (for me at least) is #1, A journal of a sort. I copy and paste to my journal and add more...things not intended for public consumption.
#2, Therapy, stress relief, and a place where I can just relax. Often, I express myself in blog terms that would make no sense whatsoever on an english paper.
All that being said, we are now officially "in school". I'll be honest and say that our first day was less than beautiful...but we did survive and day #2 went much more smoothly. Here we all are. I'm not in love with this photo, but it's us....at the END of the day. We had to wait for daddy to get home and take our picture and by then, we were looking a little be-draggled. :)
Here are some of the books we will be studying this year, along with a whole lot of other stuff!
One of the school-desks. Yes, we are old-fashioned around here. We still say pledges to the Bible and the American and Christian Flag. We also do scripture memorization. It gets to be a lot sometimes, but it is worth it. I still recall so many of the passages I memorized as a child...just when I need them most! I want my children to have the "light to their path and lamp to their feet" hidden in their hearts as well!
While the big girls learn, the little girls are learning too.
They are learning that they really CAN play together
(a little).
:)

All of us have homeschool shirts. You can see what mine says, and Kayla's lists a BUNCH of great people who were home-schooled and then asks, "need I say more?" Kalli's simply says, "Homeschool Girl!" Of course, Kammy's has a horse and proclaims, "Homeschool Varsity". Little Kaite even has one which says, "Future Homeschooler!"
My plate is FULL and honestly, I feel a little overwhelmed, but we are taking one day at a time and finding God's grace more than sufficient!

Of course, coffee never hurts either!

Help! I've 'Fall'-en...

....and I love the crisp, cool feeling! Not to mention the colors! It was a perfect 38* here this morning!
In the following pictures, you will see items from Hobby Lobby, Goodwill, Michaels, Savers,
and Horsetheif Reservoir just to name a few. My fall collection has really grown over the years and it was just a little disappointing to not 'need' anything this year. :) I did decide that I 'needed' the crow, or is he a blackbird?--when I found him half off at Hob Lob.
Shopped the house and found a sunflower swag for my window. Ahh...
Brought out the pilgrims and fall flowers from storage.
I couldn't get a good picture of my pumpkin but I L.O.V.E. the colors and the way they just melt into my living room!
The fish always appreciates the decorations he gets to look at--he likes scarecrows. You can't see them, but he has ceramic fall leaves in his bowl too.
Not much new here on the piano...just the little pumpkin which I got at Savers this summer when fall items were EXTRA cheap.
The wreath I made last year, using mostly items (such as pine cones) that we collected on camping trips. I couldn't find the wreath door hanger thingie so I used some of my jute twine and I think it looks way better that way anyway. Did anyone besides me notice the over-usage of the word 'way' in that sentence?!?!
I haven't found a perfect place for my new 'Harvest Moon' plaque yet, so for now it adorns the bench at the front door.
On second thought, please don't try to help me....I love the fact that I have 'fallen'. I'm a cool-weather fall kind of gal who has never even once tired of the fall decorations...at least not before it's time to pull out the Christmas ones. :)

Tiny Talk Tuesday

Kammy spent some spoiling time at Grampappa's house and upon returning, she bounced up the sidewalk, gave me a big hug, and with a sigh, she said, "You'll never believe what I've been through!" :)

I was terribly sick with a migraine for nearly a week. I don't get them often...like maybe a few a year, but this one was violent. One morning, when Kammy got up, she asked Rick, "How is your green headache?" We couldn't figure out what she was talking about and finally realized that she had heard Rick talking about MY migraine headache and to her little ears, it sounded like my - green - headache. :)
Linking up with Tiny Talk again, because I LOVE tiny voices. :)
