Unity Scrapbook Fun

Here is this week's Unity scrapbook sketch by Christi. Here is what I came up with using some photos from our vacation to the beach this summer...
I used SU River Rock, Baroque Burgundy, Close to Cocoa. Pattern paper is by Kaiser Craft. The chicks and sentiment are from the Unity kit called Hey Chick. I stamped and then colored the birds with Prismacolor markers and added stickles.

That's it for now. Off I go to work on some other challenges. This Thursday is a big day. There will is the Mothers & Daughters Creations challenge which is always so much fun. And it's also Hip Hop Thursday at Unity in their SCS forum, which is a day long party! Gotta love that. This week will be the start of the Unity Junkies Blog Challenges.

Fun with Unity

I just wanted to share with you my fun little news. I WON for my Unity wine charms project last week! Each week on the Unity SCS forum you can share your Unity creations and one creation a week is chosen to win some moola credit to the Unity Store!

I was so excited that they liked my charms enough to pick me. How cool is that? SOOO, I finally ordered the set of handles! I will be sure to review them here to show them off, I'm sure I will love them and I can get rid of all the acrylic blocks I have all over the place. These handles will work for all of Unity's wood mounted slide cassette stamps as well as ALL unmounted (ezmounted) stamps and clear stamps.

I'll leave you with a little creation I made awhile ago. I made it to submit to the Paper Crafts Gallery Idol contest. I didn't make the top 20 so I think it's ok to share the creation now. Isn't that how it should work? You can post something you send it for possible publication? I try and make things to send in to Take Ten often but never share until after I see that I didn't make it. One of the Unity gals did make it - Amber, congrats Amber!

Anyhow here it is. These flowers are by Inkadinkadoo and the sentiment is Stampin Up!

Thanks for stopping by. Off I go to work on some other projects. Don't forget this Thursday is challenge day with the girls from Mothers & Daughters Creations.

Unity Inspirational Challenge

Friday was the weekly inspiration challenge in the Unity forum at SCS. Here is the beautiful photo that was this week's inspiration:

I looked at this an really loved the colors. Green, Blue and the brown from the carpet. I had this awesome paper by Daisy Bucket found at Mothers & Daughters Creations, which I thought would work out nicely.

Here is my creation based on this challenge:

I used the Unity set Oh! Happy Day. I heat embossed the large flower image using some great sparkly powder I picked up at a stamp convention by Sprinkle and Sparkle. I colored in the flowers with a Copic Marker and added Lime Green stickles. The butterfly was created using glitter. I picked up a glitter/foil set by Bo'Nash. It comes with a adhesive pen that dries tacky allowing you to adhere foil or glitter. This butterfly is using the awesome blue glitter from the set. I have to say I was very skeptical about getting this set but I love it!! I love sparkle! In the middle I added some Diamond stickles for even more sparkle. The ribbon (American Crafts) underneath looks better to me IRL, but I left it because I didn't want to fuss and mess everything else up. It doesn't look that bad does it? The solid colors are Stampin Up's Close to Cocoa and Certainly Celery.

I had fun playing with this creation. I'm really loving heat embossing again. Is that totally out of date? If it is I don't care I'm bringing it back! LOLOL! I am hoping tomorrow the mailman will bring my new Unity stamps.
