Valentine Treat box Tutorial from Art Impressions

Hello Ai fans!
I have loved this little box since the moment I saw it.

This is the first time that I've created it using Art Impressions paper. The reason? The template is larger than 6"x6" which most Ai paper measures. But, where there's a will, there's a way! I figured out a way to make the template work using two sheets of Ai paper.

I wanted to create a cute little Valentine's Day treat box and this is what I came up with.

To make the template dies fit on a 6x6" piece of paper to create the box, I used two sheets of paper. The first piece cut the top and back flap.

The second piece of paper cut the base of the box.

Then, I overlapped the back panel from the top, with the back panel from the base, to create a full box.

Though this die set was designed to hold the mini journal, it makes the absolute cutest little gift box or treat box. I filled mine with Hershey Kisses.

Doesn't someone in your life deserve a little something sweet?

If you share something made with Art Impressions products be sure to tag them or use #artimpressions so that we see. We LOVE seeing all of your creations.

Girl Scout Halloween Bookmarks from Art Impressions

Hello Ai fans!

Last night I helped some little girls earn their Craft and Tinker badge for Girl Scouts.
We made some Halloween bookmarks and they seemed to really enjoy themselves.

I created individual baggies with lots of stamped and die cut choices.

The girls ranged from 2nd - 5th grade with a few younger siblings and they all did an amazing job!

It was so fun to see their individual personalities come out in their choices.

I had so much fun doing this and I hope they need help again in the future.

Thanks teach!!

Happy Monday everyone!

Today I'm sharing a gift that my son asked me to make
for a professor he had at school that went above and beyond
to help him out.

My son didn't really know what his professor liked so he took
a chance on these hard coffee drinks. (It's okay, my son is 22)

My son is a writing for the media (mar-com) major so he wanted
that theme to be on his gift.

If you haven't tried this I would strongly recommend them!
I'm not even a coffee drinker and I love them.

Coffee Gift Card Holder Thank You Box

Hello Ai fans!!

Today is my birthday so I thought we'd celebrate with a drink!

A little while ago two of my friends brought my family a wonderful dinner...just to be nice!

I wanted to give them a little thank you so I made them these gift boxes with some hard coffee in them.

I used the 5222 – Coffee Gift Card Holder.
There's no gift card in it this time.  I didn't make it to slide up like other times I've used this set.  It was just meant to be a decoration on the front of the box to emphasize that this is a coffee themed gift.

There's no coloring on my coffee cup.  This is all done with dies. The star, rosette and coffee sleeve are all part of the set.  I made the rosette look like an award and used a die from 5132 – Tag Stitched Dies.

I strung some curling ribbons through the pop tops to make the cans feel festive.

A few years ago I made a similar gift box.
You can see the box that inspired this one HERE.

There's also a link on that post to another box I made that has the tutorial.

My friends both said that they loved these! The box AND the hard coffee...they're really good.  You should try them, and I don't even drink coffee!

Along came a spider...

Hello and happy Tuesday!

Today I'm sharing another beaded spider.
This one was made for my friend at work.
She was feeling a little stressed so I thought this might cheer her up.
I used a stick from my yard, a little fishing line and a small suction cup to hang him.

When she stepped out of her classroom I snuck it in and hung it up.  Little bit of trivia...When I typed this "snuck" was highlighted as misspelled and spellcheck suggested changing it to snack.  I Googled the word and this is what I found...
Snuck as the past tense form of the verb 'sneak' is considered to be a real word chiefly used in North American English. ... The past tense and past participle most commonly used for this verb is sneaked, as in: The thief sneaked in through the backdoor.
Do you use snuck or sneaked?  The deadline sneaked up on me...it just sounds weird.  I wonder if it's a regional thing or I'm just weird? Now I've said the word snuck in my head so many times that it sounds weird too! lol!

I made her a card to go along with the spider and I wrote a little poem for her.

Hello, I'm your spider.
I'm here to spin a web.
Hang me on your window and
I'll snare those bad thoughts trying
to get in your head.

I chose teal and red for her spider because I know she likes that color combo.

A spider and his web...

Hello and happy Wednesday!

Today I'm sharing a "dream catcher" that I made for my daughter.
She's away at college and had been having some bad dreams. She asked if I thought she should get a dream catcher. I told her to do whatever she needed to help herself through this time.

I had recently seen a very cool sun-catcher on Pinterest as well as a story about a spider on a Christmas tree.

I decided to combine the two ideas...along with being kind of a dream catcher.

I used some thin wire, fishing line and an assortment of beads to create a spider.

I hung him from some fishing line attached to a stick which was hooked to a clear suction cup with some fishing line.

As I lay in bed one night worried about my daughter, words started streaming through my head. I knew what I wanted to say to her but needed it to have real meaning for her.

By morning I had come up with this...

"I may not be a dream catcher but I do spin a web.
I'll snare those bad dreams that are running through your head."

I wrapped it and gave it to her.
I don't know if she's just being kind and not filling me in or if it really worked but she hasn't texted me about a bad dream since I gave this to her.

Happy Halloween!

Hello and Happy Halloween!

Today I'm sharing a little goody box I made.
I had planned to send it to my daughter but she has been eating very healthy and said she hasn't touched the candy she brought with her to school.
Good for her!!

I was just going to get my son (also in college but lives at home) his favorite bag of candy but now I think I'll find something to fit in the box for him.

Happy Christmas from Santa Paws!! New set from Art Impressions

Hello Ai fans!

Today I'm sharing a set of tags to hang on a doorknob. (or on the wall)
I've used the new 4937 – Santa Paws Set from Art Impressions.

I've had some wood spools lying around that I've been wanting to use for something and I thought they'd be perfect for this project.  I just spray painted them white and wrapped some designer paper around them.

Wouldn't something like this be adorable hanging on all the knobs in your house?

I have two dogs and I don't dress them up but I'm pretty sure that if I tried to this would be the look that I would get from them.

The little docksie just screams "happy!"  Can't you see him bounding through some new fallen snow with this smile on his face?

I think this is one of my all time favorite Christmas sets.  I love my dogs so much and know so many people that have dogs and would LOVE a card made with one of these little cuties!
