I saw a lovely prompt the other day that said "Alis Volat Propriis" or "She flies with her own wings". I had a two page spread in my "junk" journal, that is the one where I try things out. The background looked cluttered so I just set it aside until I had time to gesso over it. Yesterday I saw an image with a lot of white in a magazine and also had just purchased a down load from DeviantScrap.com. BTW, if you haven't been to the Deviant Scrap site you're really missing out. They have fantastic images there of all kinds. This particular set is designed by Hidden Vintage Studios and it is called Tangled Up. It has all kinds of ZIA, Zentangle Inspired Art, images and is wonderful. I felt like the pages were transformed, they just needed that extra splash of white. I hope you agree.
Have a great day!
Renee Zarate's Bolton House is still in New England but Renee herself has moved on to South Carolina. The days are a little different now, no garden to take care of means more studio time. Dealing with snow and blizzards will be a thing of the past but there will be new challenges. Challenges like...how will we ever carry these two chairs and this huge umbrella down to the beach? Stay tuned.

Autumn ATC swap
Finally finished my ATCs for a swap and popped them in the mail. I did 3 different sets of ATCs and just couldn't decide which ones to send. Really, I think I just torment myself too much over things like this. Any way, I decided to send the ones that I liked the best. It always goes back to the foil covered work. I love that product. So here is my set of four:
I named them "Autumn in Paris 1890s". Tim's foil, stamps and ephemera. G45 paper. Doesn't get any better than that for supplies.

ATCs with Foil
What a better way to spend a Saturday night than sitting around making ATCs? Ever since I took that class with Tim Holtz showing us how to use the Inkssentials Foil Tape Sheets I can't stop "foiling" things. I made another chunky ATC similar to the one I'm teaching the class on next Saturday at Ink About It. Then with the leftover pieces I made some regular flat ATCs. I dry embossed the foil with a texture fade and then peeled off the paper backing and applied it to a paper piece that measured the standard 3 1/2" by 2 1/2". I did the same type of application for inking the metal by using alcohol inks. Then I just glued leftovers onto the ATCs with some Red Line tape and Mat Medium.
And a little Alice in Wonderland featuring TD & TD at the bottom under some mica.
A little foil can go a long way since it can be pieced. It is easy and fun to work with!

The Altered Alice Challenge
I love "The Altered Alice" blog and have finally decided to submit a card. The card I created is the Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland late for the tea party since the theme is "TIME".
First I applied the new Bo-Bunny "Time" paper to the sticky back portion of a sheet of Sticky Back Canvas. After soaking the canvas in water I rubbed off the paper which left only the clocks. After allowing the new clock fabric to dry thoroughly, I cut a piece of the fabric off and sewed it to a large ready made background "tag" card which had been edged with brown and blue distress ink (Ranger Broken China & Vintage Photo).
Then distressed and attached a piece of red cardstock with several staples. Stamped the rabbit on a mailing tag and then stamped clocks (both stamps are from Greetings from Wonderland SL25 by clearartstamps.com) randomly around the rabbit. Distressed with Tattered Angels glimmer mist, blue, coffee and green.
After the mists dried I glued circles of mica to the clock faces. I layered the mailing tag on to the card. Now I added the large metal clock with E-6000 glue and tied a piece of measuring tape ribbon to the top of the card.
