Heaven and Hell

Heaven & Hell foi uma colaboração musical dos membros do Black Sabbath Tony Iommi e Geezer Butler, juntamente com ex-membros Ronnie James Dio e Vinny Appice. Os quatro membros do Heaven and Hell foram registrados numa turnê em conjunto como Black Sabbath da formação Mob Rules (1982). Em 2006, enquanto o quarteto reunificado gravou três novas canções para o álbum compilação, The Dio Years, eles decidiram partir para uma turnê de 2007-2008. Esta foi facilitada pelo fato do membro fundador do Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, ter saído em uma turnê solo durante esse tempo.

Devido à projeção e continuação da formação original (Iommi, Butler, Bill Ward e Osbourne) e em 2006 a introdução da formação no Hall da Fama do Rock and Roll, Iommi (proprietário do nome Black Sabbath) decidiu chamar o grupo de Heaven and Hell. A ideia foi tomada a partir do primeiro álbum gravado pelo Dio no Sabbath, Heaven and Hell.

Após um cancelamento da turne europeia devido a problemas de saúde em 2009, o vocalista Ronnie James Dio faleceu no dia 16 de maio de 2010, vítima de câncer no estômago. E o projeto teve seu fim.

Em 24 de julho de 2010, os restantes membros se reuniram para gravar um último show, com os vocalistas Glenn Hughes e Jorn Lande, em tributo a Dio.

Black Sabbath

John Osbourne (Ozzy, Birmingham/CB, 03/12/48, vocais), Teren Butler (Geezer, Birmingham/CB, 17/07/49, baixo), Tony Iommi (Birmingham/GB, 19/02/48, guitarra) e William Ward (Bill, Birmingham/GB, 05/05/48, bateria) reúnem-se em 68 - Assinam com a Warner em 70 e lançam Black Sabbath, que fica no oitavo posto na parada inglesa. - Os LPs seguintes repetem o sucesso, chegando sempre entre as Dez Mais na Inglaterra - Em 79, Ozzy é substituído por Ronnie James Dio (Nova York/EU 10/07/49 - 16/05/2010, ex-Rainbow) - Em 80, Bill Ward é substituído por Vinnie Appice. Com essa formação, lançam dois LPs de estúdio. Em 83, Dio e Appice deixam a banda. Com Ian Gillan nos vocais, lançam Bom Again - Em 85, a formação original se reúne para o Live Aid - Em Seventh Star, o vocalista é Glen Hughes (ex-Deep Purple). Mas a banda que excursiona em 86 inclui Ray Gillen (vocais), Eric Singer (bateria), Dave Spitz (baixo), Geoff Nichols (teclados) e Tony Iommi - Tony Martin assume os vocais em The Eternal Idol, de 87 - Headless Cross (89) traz Cozy Powell (ex-Whitesnake) na bateria e Lawrence Cottleno baixo. Com Neil Murray (ex-Whitesnake) no baixo, lançam Tyr em 90.

FRASES: "Tínhamos interesse em magia negra, mas nunca pensamos que fosse marcar tanto a nossa imagem" (Bill). "Pensar que eles ainda são Black Sabbath é ridículo" (Ozzy Osbourne, após deixar a banda).
