Neat & Tangled Birthday Blog Hop

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a great week!

Neat & Tangled is celebrating its third birthday! Woo hoo! I'm so happy for Danielle--she is such a sweet and talented lady. :) I'm honored to be hopping along with Neat & Tangled for a special blog hop to celebrate! :) Each day this week, there has been a short hop, and today's hop includes:

Jocelyn Olson <--That's me!

There is a mini release of two stamps and two dies. They are fab! Here's my first card:

Heart of Gold

Isn't the new Heart of Gold die wicked cool? I love it! My buddy Miriam designed the die and the corresponding Heart of Gold stamps. I die-cut the heart out of white-ish glitter cardstock and layered it over an extra background I made a few weeks ago.

I masked off part of the sentiment and heat embossed it in gold. Doesn't the heart look like a constellation? The die is very versatile.

Heart of Gold

Here's my second card:

Birthday Bear

The new little bear from the Happiest Birthday set is too cute! I Copic-colored and fussy cut him, and popped up the present to look like he's holding it. I layered him over a Studio Calico journaling card.

After staring at the card for a while, I decided it was missing something. Ever do that? I die-cut the stars from the new Seeing Stars die from linen vellum for another layer. I also added some of Lucy Abrams' fab Flamingo Shaker Mix--these are awesome! I may have added too much, but hey, that's how I roll....

Birthday Bear

As part of the hop, there is also a giveaway!

There are two gift certificates to the Neat and Tangled shop: 1) A $100 gift certificate; and 2) A $50 gift certificate. Winners will be chosen from comments the hop all week long. You can find each day's list on the Neat & Tangled blog.

Next on the hop is the incredibly talented Teri! I can't wait to see what she made.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!!

5, 4, 3, 2, 1... And a Winner!

Hi everyone! Happy weekend!

I make a lot of cards that I don't blog (or share on this blog). Case in point, I made this card back in August, had it photographed and ready to go, but I never shared it here. Do any of you do that, too?

I thought I would share this birthday card I made using a Scraptastic Club kit:

54321...Zooom

My son had a birthday party to go to, so I made the card for his friend's 5th birthday.

I die-cut the numbers on my Cameo and then hand-cut several of the Scraptastic August kit's Boys of Summer papers to layer in the negative space. The main kit is no longer available, but most of the papers I used were from the Crate Paper Boys Rule collection.

54321...Zoom

I added a few embellishments in the rainbow order. All of the embellishments are from the Boys of Summer kit and Add-on except the Neat & Tangled sequin. Isn't that flair awesome?

Here's another close-up:

Our Home to Yours

Hi everyone!

I'm up on Neat & Tangled blog today sharing a card and quick tutorial.

Here's the final card:

Our Home to Yours

I used three different Neat & Tangled sets to make this card: Simple Christmas, So Very Blessed, and Time Warp. There are step-by-step pictures on the Neat & Tangled blog that show how I combined the different sets.

After I was done stamping, I dry embossed the panel with a PTI Woodgrain plate--I love the subtle texture. I finished the card by adding glitter to a BasicGrey die-cut, a sequin from the Classic Christmas Sequin Mix, and some spray mists.

Here's a close-up:

Our Home to Yours

If you want to play along, the Little Tangles team has an embossing challenge right now. You can check it out HERE.

Sadly, this post is my last one for Neat & Tangled. I wanted to give a shout-out to Danielle for being an awesome leader. Thanks for asking me to be on the team, Danielle! *hugs* Also, thank you to my fantastic and supportive teammates! You all are a super talented bunch!!

Warm Winter Wishes

**Hi everyone! If you're looking for my Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking Special Thanks blog hop post, please click HERE.

Wow, it's December--I can't believe it! It's been cold in South Dakota, which inspired today's card. :)

I'm guesting for the Little Tangles Team today for their new challenge--embossing! You can check out the details of the challenge on the Little Tangles blog.

Here's my card:

Warm Winter Wishes

I started this card by heat embossing two trees from the Neat & Tangled Winter Wishes set. I then repeated the stamping/embossing about 20 times to create a background. I was inspired by one of Laura Bassen's cards, and I did some gradual blending with Distress Inks. I added some splatter with a Pearl mist to give the background some shimmer.

Here's a picture of the background:

Warm Winter Wishes

On top, I die-cut a Simon Says Stamp Eliza snowflake and layered a sentiment from the Winter Wishes set. The card still didn't feel finished, so I threaded some Crystal Clear and Christmas Mix sequins.

Here's a close-up:

Warm Winter Wishes

I hope you'll play along over at Little Tangles with the embossing challenge! You can link up your projects HERE.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a great day!

Let Our Lives Be Full

Hi everyone!

I'm up on the Neat & Tangled blog today with a card and step-by-step photos.

I wanted to use a Thanksgiving set in a (hopefully) non-Thanksgiving way. Here's what I ended up with:

Thanks & Giving

This card has everything but the kitchen sink--layering, die-cutting, stamping, heat embossing, splattering, watercoloring, sewing....I guess I didn't use patterned paper. Ha!

I started with watercoloring and then die-cut part of the Album Cover Lace on my Cameo. On top of that layer, I heat embossed the sentiment from Neat & Tangled's Be Full set. The embossing powder is glittery, which looks a little lumpy in photos (it's not).

Thanks & Giving

I stitched the panel onto the background to add some lift to the vellum. Here's a final picture of what the card looks like under the sentiment:

Thanks & Giving

To see the steps for making this card, I have the pictures and steps on the Neat & Tangled blog. :)

Also, Danielle is having a Black Friday sale starting at 8am ET on Thursday (11/27) and running until Sunday (11/30)!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

Add a Little Dazzle and Neat & Tangled Blog Hop

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a good week. :)

This week, the Neat & Tangled DT is teaming up with the Add a Little Dazzle team. Add a Little Dazzle sells cool craft metal sheets (be sure to check it out!). Each day this week, members of the two teams are hopping. If you're hopping along, you should be coming from Yana's blog.

Here's my project:

Warm Holiday Wishes

I kept things pretty simple. As soon as I saw the Fancy Pants Oh Deer! reindeer, I knew I had to use him! I used the "warm" from the Warm Wishes stamp set and paired it with two stamps from the Simple Christmas set. For the hearts, I die-cut the A Little Dazzle Scarlet Red sheet with the Neat & Tangled My Plate is Full dies.

Don't the hearts look like Valentine's Day chocolates? It makes me kind of hungry. Ha! Here's a close-up:

Warm Holiday Wishes

Be sure to comment all along the way to be entered to win a $25 prize pack from Add a Little Dazzle and a $25 prize pack from Neat & Tangled. Next up in the hop is Lee-Anne!

Thanks for stopping by! I'll be back tomorrow with another post. :)

Very Merry

Hi everyone!

It's the final day of Release Week at Neat & Tangled! All of the sets and dies are on sale today at the Neat & Tangled store. Today, we're sharing projects using the Very Merry stamp set and Tiny Triangles die. I also have a second card featuring the Winter Trees set. Danielle is sharing pictures of the release on the Neat & Tangled blog.

Here's how I used the Very Merry stamp and Tiny Triangles die:

Very Merry

I stamped and fussy cut the large "merry" from the Very Merry stamp set. I layered the sentiment over the die-cut Tiny Triangles and a piece of red bokeh vellum from Webster's Pages, a doily, and tissue.

I added an Emerald Green sequin, a Pink Paislee star, and a little tag from Inspire Lovely. Here's a close-up:

Very Merry

Here's my second card:

Believe

I was inspired by the watercoloring on Debby's card. I stamped the Winter Trees image and used spray mists for watercoloring. The trees have so much movement!

I finished the card with a Raspberry Red sequin and a gold puffy heart. Here's a close-up:

Believe

There's a giveaway! Comment on the Neat & Tangled blog to win the Very Merry stamp set.

Warm Wishes

Hi everyone!

It's day three of Release Week at Neat & Tangled! Today, we're sharing projects using the Warm Wishes stamp set. It's a gorgeous set featuring Danielle's lettering. Danielle is sharing pictures of the stamp on the Neat & Tangled blog.

Here's how I used the mini set:

Warm Wishes

I'm one of those people who doesn't hesitate to cut up stamps. So, I cut apart the Warm Wishes  sentiment and mug, and I only used the sentiment as a frame. I love this set, and I'm going to use it for more holiday cards. I used a cute Crate Paper Bundled Up die-cut in the center, but I love how the sentiment is a great frame for many elements.

I embossed and added a Crystal Clear sequin and some die-cuts. Here's a close-up:

Warm Wishes

Happy Holidays!

Hi everyone!

It's day two of Release Week at Neat & Tangled! Today, we're sharing projects using the Little Santa Girl stamp set. She's so cute! Danielle is sharing pictures of the stamps on the Neat & Tangled blog, so be sure to check it out.

I used the mini set for a tag:

Happy Holidays Tag

Do you ever have those projects where you start creating but have no plan in mind? Yep, this tag was one of those projects. I started by coloring the Little Santa Girl with Copics, but I felt like she needed an oomph. So, I paper-pieced her hat and tights and used colored pencils to add shading to the patterned paper.

At first, she was going to be standing, and then I was going to have two girls coming from the edges. After playing around, I decided to have one girl peeking into the scene. I had to cut off her legs, which was kind of weird. But, it looked weirder to have the legs hanging off. ;)

I added some Webster's Pages All That Glitters vellum and stitching. Here's a close-up:

All Is Calm

Hi everyone! It's been a long time!

It's release week at Neat & Tangled! To kick things off, we're sharing projects using the Winter Wishes and Falling Flakes stamps sets. Danielle is sharing pictures of the stamps on the Neat & Tangled blog.

I used the Winter Wishes set for my card:

All is Calm

The houses, trees, and snowflakes are one stamp. I love the little scene! I added the smoke, star, and sentiment from the same Winter Wishes set. The large stamp would work great for mass-producing holiday cards. ;)

The panel is on cream cardstock....I wasn't sure at first with the grey and white stripe, but I like how cream and white look together. Wida suggested using Stickles to look like snow (which I oddly don't own, but she lent me hers). A little glitter is good. :)

Here's a close-up:

Gobble Gobble Gobble

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a great week!

It's the last day of Neat & Tangled's release week! All of the stamps and dies are in the store now. :)

Today we're sharing projects using the Turkey Talk stamp set and dies. Here's what I made:

Gobble Gobble

This card started with the background. I had a strange inspiration source--THIS video for Meow Mix. After I watched this video, I had that "Meow, meow, meow, meow" stuck in my head... The "gobble gobble" stamp in Turkey Talk reminded me of the Meow Mix tune. LOL! So I stamped the sentiment about 50 times in gold.

I stamped and Copic colored the turkey. As an FYI, he's larger than the Thankful Turkey stamp. When you see the card at an angle, you can see the gold background:

Go and Do Amazing Things

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a great week!

It's day 4 of Neat & Tangled's release week! Today we're sharing projects using the Origami Map stamp set, which was designed by Miriam Prantner. Danielle is sharing pictures of the set on the Neat & Tangled blog.

This set is fun and very versatile! Here's what I made:

Go and Do Amazing Things

This card took time, but it was pretty easy to make. I stamped the Origami Map, got out a bunch of Copics, and started coloring. I skipped the shading--otherwise, I'd probably still be coloring. ;) Once I was done, I fussy cut the map and trimmed off the edge.

The sentiment and airplane are also from the Origami Map set. I stamped them on the MME Just Sayin' paper:

Go and Do Amazing Things

Since the map had so many colors and is graphic, I decided to keep the card pretty CAS.

There's a giveaway! Comment on the Neat & Tangled blog to win the Origami Map stamp set.

I Love a Different Sentiment

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a great week!

It's day 3 of Neat & Tangled's release week! Today we're sharing projects using the My Plate is Full stamp set and coordinating dies. Danielle is sharing pictures of the set and dies on the Neat & Tangled blog.

Here's what I made:

Gather Together

I felt like I haven't been hybriding as much (and yes, I made up that word), so I decided to use my new One Little Bird digital papers for this card. After resizing and printing the papers, I stamped the sentiment, swag, and rings from the new My Plate is Full set on one of the patterned papers. I thought the sentiment would work for an invitation or a hostess thank you. I love that it's a different sentiment!

I die-cut the leaves on my Cameo and strung them together like I did in THIS card and knotted the ends.

Gather Together

I finished the card with some mist and Neat & Tangled sequins the Orchid Satin sequins matched perfectly.

There's a giveaway! Comment on the Neat & Tangled blog to win the My Plate is Full stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by!

Full of Thanks and Giving

Hi everyone! Uh oh. It's only day two, and I don't have anything to say. Ha! Let's get to it.

It's day 2 of Neat & Tangled's release week! Today we're sharing projects using the Be Full stamp set. Danielle is sharing pictures of the set on the Neat & Tangled blog.

Here's what I made:

Be Full

Over a month ago, I watercolored a background using spray mists for another project. It ended up not working, but I kept it in my pile of "maybe I'll use it someday" elements. When I saw the Be Full stamp set, I knew it would work! Yeah!

I stamped the sentiment with Brilliance Black ink, which added some extra shimmer to the already-shimmery misted background:

Be Full

I had to stitch down that panel, so I added some wonky stitching. The layered elements in the corner are from Simple Stories. I know poinsettias don't grow acorns, but it looked good.

Be Full

There's a giveaway! Comment on the Neat & Tangled blog to win the Be Full stamp set.
