The Reagan Administration

I am dying to specify something from one of my latest favorite companies -- do you know Reagan Hayes? They've been getting some fantastic press of late from the likes of Veranda and now, Elle Decor, so clearly I'm in good company in my admiration.

Producing a limited number of upholstered pieces, Reagan Hayes knows how to design a classic; every single item is perfectly proportioned and truly timeless, and I am fairly certain you could fill your entire home with their line and never tire of any of it.... Even the finishes are perfectly edited perfection!

Here's what I am dying for:

Chief among my Reagan-related obsessions is the Sylvia sofa -- not sure if it is the creamy painted finish, the sophisticated camel fabric, the bolster pillows, or that swoon-worthy back shape that makes me weak in the knees. Most likely, all of the above.

Other sofas I have loved:

And don't even get me started on the chairs!

Look at the detail on the seat back!

For once, a tagline bears a lot of truth -- Reagan Hayes' is "Youthful Elegance." Indeed.

Drop me a line for details on any of the items from their line.

Pillow Talk

We are so thrilled with the newest additions to our pillow family, courtesy of wonderful Texas-based duo August Morgan, which you may have read about in one of katiedid's recent posts.

Principal Kate Hersch travels the globe, picking up needlepoint pieces along the way, and uses fabrics to transform them into one-of-a-kind pillows that border on artwork.

Pillows have always been a quick and easy way to put your own fresh stamp on a space, and these are perhaps the most personal of all statements. No two are alike, and with so many quirky designs from which to choose, you're sure to find one that's got you sewn all over it.

Read more about them here, then come check out our selection.

Krista Faye Knows Love...and Necklaces

One of my favorite lines in the shop is a local one, vintage jewelry designed and handcrafted by Ballard's answer to Kenneth Jay Lane, Krista Kenner.

Krista's jewelry is sold under the name KristaFayeKnowsLove...I'm not entirely sure why, but this seems a good time to find out. (I'll keep you posted!) She scouts amazing vintage components--beads, chains, random decorative items like a jeweled "VOTE" charm--and combines them with new finds to make truly unique, fresh, and whimsical designs. She has a great eye for color, and I am always surprised and delighted by each new piece she brings in.

The latest batch of new pieces, which we just received last week, is my favorite to date. And the star of the show? This necklace. It must be mine. Oh, yes, it will be mine. (Luckily she can make a few more.)

The beads themselves are dyed magnesite that are a dead ringer for turquoise but cost less (i.e, "recession turquiose"), and the vintage chain is gold-plated. The shape of both the beads and the chain links causes my heart to flutter.

Not pictured are some fabulous coordinating pieces of turquoise and vintage coral: earrings, another necklace, and a necklace that converts into a bracelet.

Krista Faye does indeed know love-ly. And you need to know Krista Faye!

UPDATE: This just in, from the mouth of KristaFaye herself:

"I started a faux love advice (with terrible advice) column back in 2005 -- it's how I met my husband. He wrote in (thought it was funny) and the rest is history...

The column has been on hold --- I don't mix business with pleasure -- but I think I'll integrate vignettes of funny advice (blog style) when we launch the KFKL website. :)"

And now you know the rest of the story. (Apologies to the late Paul Harvey.)

Window Dressing

I couldn't be more excited about our lovely new holiday window, featuring a few of my favorite fabric lines and products from the shop--fabrics from Rubie Green & F. Schumacher, and chairs from MetroSofa and a customized piece from Martha Stewart's line for Bernhardt.

Special thanks to stylist extraordinaire Hope Misterek for her eye and muscle. (Side note: the blatant rip-off of House Beautiful's recent cover --i.e., the paper bells--was all me.)

Come by and check it out in person!

Crack Ups

Thanks to DailyCandy for the love thrown Humpty & Eggberta's way. These little beauties are handmade by hipster L.A. designer Helene Ige and her mom (how cute is that?) and come in two different sizes. I defy anyone not to utter some sort of high-pitched squeal or at least an "Awww..." upon seeing them.

The perfect gift for your favorite egghead. (Sorry.)

Mention you saw them here and we'll give you 20% off to thank you for humoring our bad puns.

As seen in December's "Domino"

We have been working like mad for many a moon now to get our Web site up and going, but it looks like we are still a week or two away (maybe sooner...keep your fingers crossed!).

With Thanksgiving approaching, we are ever so thankful that the items shown above appear in the December issue of our beloved Domino magazine, crediting our humble shop for ordering purposes. Naturally we were hoping people could simply hop on over to our Web site and buy them, but now it seems it won't be quite that simple.

If you saw the items and are interested in purchasing one (or, better yet, more), here's the skinny:

1. The resin stag head is featured in the medium size, measuring 16"H. He sells for $55, and he has two friends: a smaller version, measuring 7 1/2" for $25, and a larger version, measuring 20" for $120.

2. The gold and coral costume necklace is from Kenneth Jay Lane and retails for $100.00.

If you're interested in purchasing either, drop us a line at info@revivalhomeandgarden.com or ring us at 206.763.3886. We will be happy to help you!

With any luck our site will up by the time the issue drops and all of this will be moot, but we are not betting on it.... Murphy's Law and all. Damn that Murphy.

Mean Melamine

One of our fave items at the store, Thomas Paul melamine plates in assorted colors and patterns, was featured front and center in Kelley Moore's latest King5 entertaining segment. This time around, Kelley uses the various designs to customize Thanksgiving place settings around guests' personalities. Great idea! And no broken plates this year...even better.

Just Hatched

As a born-and-raised Nashvillian and longtime Hatch Show Print owner, I have always been a supporter of this amazing and storied print shop in Country Music USA.... In fact, it runs in the blood: my dad used to work there as a teenager and make posters for his band on the sly. Hmmm.... maybe he was the original maverick.

But I digress. Many of you graphic design afficionados are familiar with Hatch's incredible woodblock prints they've been crafting for decades, and we in Seattle have a wonderful opportunity to view many specimens up close at the Experience Music Project until July 16, 2009.

Read more about it here.

At the shop we have several of our favorite restrikes on sale in custom Plexiglass frames. Come take one home and create a permanent exhibit of your very own.

Take a Hand

Have we mentioned that we have a serious shelter magazine obsession? Yes, it's not just Domino we're fixated on--it's all of them: Met Home, Elle Decor, Cottage Living, Southern Accents, World of Interiors, House Beautiful, Traditional Home... we are still bemoaning the demise of Blueprint and House & Garden.

But I digress... The new issue of Metropolitan Home arrived a few days ago in our mail slot, and we were so happy to see the home (or one of them, anyway) of our friend Jonathan Adler (shared with partner Simon Doonan).

We mention this chiefly because we spotted Adler's fabulous ceramic and lucite "Love" hand on the cover, and the companion "Peace" hand is featured in another spot in their home. We currently have both of these in the shop, and in these times, couldn't we all use a little more Peace and Love?

Best Seat in the House

A design we love is currently appearing (or disappearing, as the case may be) in all its glory in this month's issue of "Seattle" magazine/"Northwest Home & Garden," selected by the lovely and just plain nice lifestyle guru Kelley L. Moore (whose first name has been unfortunately misspelled by her friends at the online version of the mag....reformed editors can't stop themselves from noticing such details).

But I digress: it's the "Magino" stool from Karim Rashid--it's got a great silhouette and, as we love all things acrylic, it remains one of our favorite pieces to mix in whenever we get the opportunity. It also comes in a slightly taller, side-table size; a rectangular coffee-table style; and a bar stool.

and check out the other styles on Umbra's Web site:

THEN come by the shop and buy one from me!

Karim Rashid Grobal Planters Exclusively at Revival Home & Garden!

We are so excited to be (at least for the time being!) the exclusive Seattle retailer for Grobal planters, designed by design star Karim Rashid. Not only are they super-stylish and available in a rainbow of colors, but they are affordable to boot. What more could you ask from a pot?

Here's an excerpt from today's e-mail edition of "Inhabitat" (http://www.inhabitat.com/), a blog we love, touting the Grobal's swell qualities:

"Sometimes ‘it’s not easy being green,' and a little help is needed to make our living space or office cubicle greener and cleaner without much maintenance. Enter the ‘techno-organic’ Grobal planter, a super-stylish self-watering planter that is a foolproof way to grow plants and flowers without day-to-day watering or green-thumb know-how. Invented by Treg Bradley and designed with the high-gloss biomorphism of superstar Karim Rashid, Grobal is ideal for cultivating house plants, flowers, herbs, orchids, and succulents. Let the internal ‘grow chamber’ do the work, and you can sit back and nurture yourself and your plants in self-sufficient, eco-style."

Stop by the store after we open to pick up your very own Grobal. In the meantime, check out http://www.grobalworld.com/ to learn more about Grobal planters and why you must have one.
