The Sand leek (Allium scorodoprasum) is growing in my garden. It's supposed to be edible, but I haven't tried it yet. I quite like the look of the straggling flowers.

The very last Lilies of the Valley are blooming in the woods, and, at the same time, my garden is crammed with Columbines.

Dubbel vitsippa
When the Wood anemones are giving up blooming, my double varity is at its peak. It's pretty, I think, just like a little punker.

Vitt, vitt, vitt
This past weekend is like a gift. Sunshine and a great temperature for gardening. Today my back aches - but it's quite a nice feeling, seeing that I know where it comes from. The gardening year has begun and the Wood anemones are blooming!

NF Catching the light - Mossporer
The word photograph is said to mean 'paint with light'. Catching the light is a meme over at Nature Footstep on Mondays - and my entry this week is moss, stretching toward the light.

I enjoy crawling about in the woods with my macro lens. There are some interesting actors mongst the mosses...

Anemone nemorosa
The Wood anemones have been blooming extravagantly this year, and I think it's because of the chilly Spring we're having. It's such a treat with the big, white fields and the scent is divine!
Quite a few of them are red and I wonder why..? I've read that it's because the flowers are ageing, but there must be more to it. Could it be the sil? Anybody who knows?

The Queen of the Woods
När Liljekonvaljerna blommor blir skogen nästan magisk. Är de inte ljuvliga, så säg!
There's something magical in the woods when Lily of the Valley is blooming. Isn't she divine?

Yellow Wood Anemones
Yellow Wood Anemones are grwoing next to the double Wood Anemone in one of my borders. With a bit of luck, they'll eventually interbreed. Wouldn't that be great!

Oxalis
The Common Wood Sorrel (Oxalis acetosella) is blooming in the woods. If you take a close look at the flower, you'll se how pretty they are!

When it's raining cats and dogs...
When it's raining cats and dogs a grey and dull day like this, it's happiness to find some blooming White dead-nettles. They are said to bloom from May til September, and to have grown in this country since the middle ages... such survivors!

Summer's last wild flowers
I picked this summer's last bouquet of wild flowers, while walking my dogs this morning. Polygonum amphibium, Linaria vulgaris and Campanula rotundifolia. It's beautiful and also a little sad that it's probably the last one for this season. The vase was made by my favourite artist Vicke Lindstrand.
Fler snittblommor hittar du hos Maria. Titta och njut!

My favourite wild growing herb
When I was a kid, I loved the sour taste of Oxalis acetosella. It's blooming right now in the forest...and the tiny flowers are so pretty.

The lime green foliage and the white flowers can be used instead of lemon juice in salads and you can also make a cooling lemonade. One small warning though; the herb contains potassium and oxalic acid - just like rhubarbs, so you shouldn't eat too much. Especially if you're having trouble with your kidneys. But a couple of leaves to put in your mouth is both refreshing and tasty.

It's Spring!
The forest is painted in white - it's full of white Wood Anemones. And high up in the trees, the birds are chirping. Spring is such a delightful season!

Wild flowers in the woods
Walking my dog in the woods today, I brought my camera with me. The weather is overcast today, as you can see on this picture:
The Wood Anemones are out! They form a lovely green carpet underneath the trees.
Spring is the best season, I think. Listening to the birds and seeing all those lovely Wood Anemones made me light at heart.
Another wild flower that I found on my walk, was the Pile Wort. Round buds, opening up into a sweet little flower.
But as you can all see on the following pictures - the slugs are out as well... Evidently they have tasted the flowers. Nevertheless, Spring is here and I'm happy!
Do you have those two flowers in your country?
Wishing you all a Happy Spring! /Katarina
