A Winter Wedding dessert
On the weekend I went to the wedding of Tim's sister, Katherine. It was great, and.....so on and so on,
I'm sick. I can't be bothered writing anymore and maybe everyone can't be bothered reading since I put at the photos on fb. whatever. I've got a runny nose.
I just wanted to show the wonderful dessert and the cool wedding at '1907' restaurant, but since I this bad cold I caught the last day of Winter.....
etc etc etc
So if this illustration seems a bit strange, that's why. One's imagination always feels odd when one is sick.

Taboo preparing for Peru
I've been asked why I'm putting real photos behind my characters (?).
Well if I had gone to Peru, I would have taken my family of characters there too. And I would have come back from the trip with photos of them there. You know like the Spooky Doll Kids on a Llama, Max trying on a traditional headdress etc etc. But since I didn't win that trip to Peru, I've had to settle for standing my characters in front of the peru Photos in a book I have.
And anyway, aesthetically a photo makes a cool background, I like doing that. I like the look of a real world with my cartoon characters in it, you know, like Roger Rabbit.
If you still don't get it, on a technical note: There are twenty five characters already predrawn, because that was my ploy to win the competition. Instead of writing 25 words, I was going to send in a drawing of 25 of my characters speaking a word each in a speech bubble, saying to "please send us to Peru and we'll come back with a story to show everyone". But since I didn't send my entry in, I'm putting the drawings here.

Max Maxy Maximillion!
This is Max the terrier cross. He's such a good sport. He politely takes anything I make him wear.
When I was in Melbourne last year, I got a phone call from Roland that went like this:
"Hi Roseline, hey what do you think if we got Mum a dog?"
"Oh I don't think Mum really likes dogs."
"Really?!"
"Yeah, she's always said she doesn't want one."
"Well she might say that, but if we just gave her one, she'd probably like it wouldn't she?"
"Aw I don't think so, I don't think it'd be a good idea Rol."
"Well we picked one up from the RSPCA today. He's in the car right now and we're on our way to Mum's to give it to her".
"!!!!!"
Mum didn't know what to do with Max the dog and would call me and say that the dog is sitting there looking at her and she doesn't know what to do. When I came back to Perth to live at home, I wasn't sure how I'd be with Max, as I was sure I was not a dog person either. I dislike their slobbery mouths, the way they do huge stinky poos out in the open, and lick and sniff gross things...And they're so rough, they bite and growl! Dogs are not quiet and self preening and cleaning like rabbit and cats.
But very quickly Max became my new friend and most favourite dog, I love him! He's very thoughtful and funny at the same time, and absoutely silent, he never barks! I don't mind when he licks my hand, I clean up after him when poos out on his walks, but I yanked him away when he licked a post once that had a (wee) mark on it and said "THAT'S DISGUSTING MAX!". I don't even mind when big dogs bound up to me now when I go for walks, because I recognise the way they look, it's the same as Max. Happy! Curious! Play! and so I almost slap my thighs and say Hello there! Wanna tackle a ball?!. Only I don't because I'd probably get a huge lick on the face, which I still think is gross. My mum loves Max too, although she is still absolutely not a dog person.

My travel wishlist: Peru
I saw this competition by 'Global cafe's' ground coffee (in all good supermarkets, go buy it, it's fantastic coffee) a month ago to win a trip to Peru touring the Machu Pichu trail and visiting a fairtrade coffee plantation. I've always wanted to go to Peru! and I LOVE fairtrade coffee! It's the only coffee I'll buy.
It was a 25 words-or-less-judged only-on-creativty competition and I came up with the best idea. I was SO SURE I WAS GOING TO WIN.
I read up on Cuzco, so I knew what weather to expect during different seasons of the year, and what the local crime is like, what to be wary of, what to bring, what not to bring, I even decided what month I'd take the prize trip. I was positive I WAS GOING TO PERU on this amazing guided adventure.
...Only I ended up missing the last day of entry. So there goes my trip to Peru.
The plan was, I could take all my characters there with me, and I would come back with a sketchbook full of stories and authentic experiences of Peru and fairtrade coffee. I could draw a whole storybook about their amazing adventures in Peru and showcase to kids (and adults) the wonders of a fairtrade coffee plantation.
Since I started drawing all my characters in Peruvian outfits, they will have to settle for posing in front of my "Pilgrim" coffee table book that has amazing photos of a festival in the Peruvian Andes, taken by this amazing japanese photographer Kazuyoshi Nomachi.
There's 24 more characters to come, so check back on Monday, I cross my heart and promise to post. The next one is a new little friend of mine, a brand new addition to the family.

A girl on a Castle on Swan St
At the bottom of the hill from where we're staying, there is a side street called Swan Street, that has an array of old, ageing, fancy town houses.
One of them looks like it could be a teenage princesses' castle, and after I took a snap of it, I could see her sitting there feeling free above the world in the wind.
