Mojo Monday 503

 photo Mojo503pic.jpg

I'm baaaaaack.   After a very busy past six months, I think my card making hiatus is over.  Living the sandwich generation is not easy or for the faint of heart....with older teens in the house and aging parents with health issues on both sides, it has been a very, very busy and exhausting time.  I had very little time to myself and absolutely no energy to be creative so reading a good book always won out.  Withe the dust starting to settle the past few weeks, when I saw Julee bringing back the Mojo Monday sketches, I was very, very excited and it was the perfect impetus to create a card.  I have always loved her sketches and they were the perfect jump start I needed to get crafty again :)

With Christmas a month away, the timing was perfect to make a Christmas card.   I have always loved this Echo Park Winter Time paper and these Reverse Confetti trees were crying out to be used.  I paired them with some dark brown and avocado green paper, a pop of silver and topped things off with some silver cording and two silver bells.  Happy sigh... :) :)

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge ~ At Home

We are back with the second challenge of the month with this wonderful sign as our inspiration.

CC Nov 15, 2016 photo CCNov15picB.jpg

Loved the colour combination for this challenge as well as the wooden sign.  As fate would have it, I found this perfect piece of woodgrain paper for my background.    Used the colours from the photo, kept with the love theme for my sentiment and just had to add some yellow hearts!  A Starbucks sleeve button for a rustic feel and I was done.

 AT HOME

Guest Designer

As per the sentiment on the sign, I am very blessed to have two amazing teenagers, a wonderful husband and my mom just minutes away.  We have always worked hard at creating family time and ensuring home is a place where you feel loved and accepted, so this sentiment rings very true for us.  Blessed I am indeed  :)

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge ~ Fall Floral

Doing a happy dance today!!!  I wonderful double whammy for me as I love flowers and these gorgeous fall colours...happy sigh....  To say I was in seventh heaven making this card is an understatement LOL.

CC Sept 13, 2016 photo CCSept13pic.jpg

I do not own any Altenew stamps so I pulled out some other flower stamps and dies and went to work.  I used a grey background as per the photo, and pulled the rest of the colours from the flower bouquet.  A row of hearts had to be added as I love hearts two - my Autumn "three musketeers" LOL!

Have fun with the challenge and I look forward to seeing your creations in the Curtain Call gallery.

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge ~ Candy Apple

It's that time of year for us again - teachers have set up their classrooms and the kids head back to school right after Labour Day.  So much for our lazy summer schedules LOL!

CC Sept 1, 2016 photo CCSept1pic_1.jpg

This is such a fun colour combination, and I was thrilled to be able to use polka dots on my card as I adore them.  Can't wear them wroth a darn, so use them on my cards LOL!   I cased Wanda's wonderful layout from this card as it was the perfect fit for this inspiration photo.   Thanks Wanda!  Love your work!

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Simplicity

Welcome to the second Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge for April!  This time round, our challenge is Simplicity.  All you CAS card makers - this is your challenge!  I greatly admire CAS card makers as I have such a hard time with them!!  After a few attempts, I decided to go with my version of CAS {grin}.  Went with neutral pallet in the photo an the orange flowers for a pop of colour.

 photo CCApr16pic.jpg

Realized after I had made this card that is is the same set I used for my last Curtain Call card....oops!   It was still out on my desk as we have had a very tough week emotionally.  My daughter has gone to school with a set of triplets since first grade and they were all in their senior year in high school. Sadly,  one of them was killed in an ATV accident last weekend....  He was the nicest, most responsible boy and a seasoned ATV driver.  Just a fluke bump into a rut that tipped his ATV into the concrete bridge support and threw him him off the bridge and down 30 feet.  My heart ACHES for their mom as I did many a hot lunch and field trip driving with her when our kids were in elementary school.  Memorial service was on Wednesday, and I was a crying mess.  Hug your kids tight and tell them you love them every day as we are never guaranteed tomorrow...

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Neon Nicknacks

Welcome to the first Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge for April!  This time round, our challenge is Neon Nicknacks.  Spring is a comin' and I have bright pink and yellow primroses in my front basket and can't wait for my tulips to come up for added pops of colour!

In addition, the LEAD for this challenge will be invited to be a Guest Designer in an upcoming challenge.

CC April 2016 photo CCApr2016pic.jpg

Neon colours means "cheat time" {grin}.  Flowers can be done in any colour and work perfectly for bright colours.  I used Reverse Confetti's Petals to Posies and Lots to Say for the sentiment along with some of their dies.  Wanted the colours to take front and center but not be overpowering.

Mojo Monday #426

Mojo 426 photo Mojo426pic.jpg

It's tall and skinny week over on the Mojo Monday blog and Julee's sketch is another keeper.

I delved into my MME Mistletoe magic pad and found a few papers to work with.  The herringbone one reminds me of candy canes and the musical script of Christmas carols so I was a happy camper.  Had great fun using this fun Reverse Confetti die cut tree for the first time (got it on sale in the summer), and paired it with an MFT snowflake and PTI's Wet Paint "joy". A few sequins to decorate my tree, a twine bow and a button on my snowflake dressed things up perfectly.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Speaking of tree decorating, we are in a bit of a quandry this year as we have not experienced a Christmas with Paddington yet (our new cat), and consequently have no clue how he will react or more importantly, "play" with the ornaments and tree LOL!    Will be an interesting adventure for us all!

Enjoy the sketch, Cyber Monday if you are so inclined, and your day!

SFYTT - September 2015

SFTYY Sept 2015 photo SFYTTSeptpic.jpg

Time for another Sketch For You To Try card.  With the busyness of September, I am just now getting to this month's sketch.

My daughter's birthday was this Tuesday, and this sketch fit the bill.  Since she loves pink, ruffles and flowers, I pulled out Petals and Posies once again (love this set!) and went to work.  Ruffles - check.  Flowers - check, check. Pink - check, check, check lol.  Hoping this will be soft and feminine enough for her :)

Not sure how my baby got so big!  This mama is having a hard time with it LOL.  I am so proud of her and all of her accomplishments, how she has excelled academically and in her photography, how she has stood true to her values though out high school in the midst of pressure to do otherwise, and oh how I love her wit and her huge heart.  She is a precious girl and I am beyond blessed to be called her mother.  Happy Birthday, sweetheart!! I love you lots!

Mojo Monday #413

 photo Mojo413pic.jpg

When one is in a hurry to make a Mojo Monday card for the last Monday of the month, after an 8.5 hour power outage, there is a very good chance you forget to make it tall and skinny...cough, cough....  Yes, this is my second go at the sketch due to that exact issue LOL!

We had a huge wind storm over the weekend which lead to 400,000 people in the Fraser Valley losing power!  Crews are working 24/7 to and some areas are still out.   The good news is we finally got some desperately needed rain too!!!   We still need a ton more, but it was a good start :)

Sorry about the rabbit trail.....on to the card!  Still enjoying this darling Reverse Confetti flowers and added in a big Verve butterfly to keep things even wink, wink {grin}.  Added a few leaf springs using Verve's Sprightly Sprigs dies and stitched circles for a bit of detail.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Have a fabulous day, and look forward to seeing your Tall and Skinny creations!

Sketch For You To Try Take 2

SFYTT Aug 2015 B photo SFYTTAug2015picB.jpg

Still playing with  my new Reverse Confetti goodies so decided to go with Take 2 of this month's Sketch For You To Try.

Since September is quickly approaching, and I just got Class Act, I just "had" to make a school themed card.  Created my own pattern on the kraft panel by stamping the A+ across the top and then had fun with some Confetti cuts :)   Adore this polka dotted apple and added a yellow sentiment tab to fill in some space and add a pop of colour.

Into my teacher, thank you stash it goes.  Even though my kids are now in high school, I still send notes to their teachers at the end of each semester thanking them for teaching my kids.  We have been extremely blessed with amazing teachers throughout each of my kids years in high school and fingers crossed, this year will be no different.

Thanks for popping in today and sharing a bit of your day with me :)

Sketch For You To Try

SFYTT Aug 2015 photo SFYTTAug2015picA.jpg

I am having great fun with my new Reverse Confetti goodies - gotta love combination of a Reverse Confetti sale and cash from my participation in my  LSS's garage sale burning a hole in my pocket!

This week's Colour Q had a fabulous combination which was perfect for flowers wink, wink :) and I combined it with this  month's Sketch For You To Try.  Loved the big panel and all the options it provides.

My card was heavily inspired by this card by Wanda Cullen -- she uses these flowers so well!  Layered Confetti Cuts created my focal panel and these delightful Petals and Posies adorned it.  A little "thanks" tab finished things off nicely.  Going to have a hard time putting these new goodies down!

Enjoy your day!

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Confetti Crush

This week's Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge is entitled "Confetti Crush" and our sponsor is Reverse Confetti!  The LEAD of this challenge will receive a gift certificate to the Reverse Confetti store!

CCApr13 photo CCApr13picA.jpg

I had great fun using Reverse Confetti's Love Notes and Arrow die on my card, and the sentiment is from Lots to Say (a great set with a wonderful variety of sentiments for many occasions).  I created my own confetti by using a mini heart punch I got in the Michael's dollar bin and added the double arrows for a bit of visual fun.

The Curtain Call Crew is over the moon that the owner of Reverse Confetti, Jen del Muro, is joining the team today for the Confetti Crush challenge.  You can check out her card as well as the rest of the Crew's for some amazing inspiration!

Just Us Girls #234 - Wild Card

JUGS #234 PicB photo JUGS234picB.jpg

Since we have five Friday's in March, this week's challenge is a Wild Card challenge and I get to host.   This week, our challenge is to make a "Tall and Skinny" card.  Dimensions can be 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" or 3 1/2" x 6".  Or you could go all our and do a 3 1/2" x 8" card which will fit in a regular business sized envelope.

If you want to browse a few Tall and Skinny sketches, you can head over to the Mojo Monday blog and look for the fourth sketch of the past three months or modify a sketch you have to fit the dimensions of "tall and skinny".

I chose to use a Mojo Monday sketch from a few weeks back and alter the dimensions to make a 3 1/2' x 5 1/2" card.    Love this Reverse Confetti tag die so had to use it on the sketch and added an MFT flower and butterfly as I still hoping for Spring to arrive!

The rest of the  JUGS team, along with our March Guest Designer Calypso Basitan (who gets an extra week with us do to having five Fridays this month), have some wonderful samples to get your inspiration going, so head on over to the Just Us Girls blog and check out what they've created.  Then put your creative genes to work and add your card/project to the challenge post on the JUGS blog for the chance to be chosen as the Chic of the Week.  Plus if you are chosen as Chic of the Week, you could be invited to be a Guest Designer.

Hard to believe Spring Break is almost over.   The two weeks just flew by and we had many wonderful family times together as well as a good mix of activities and down time.  Back at it full force on Monday - darn early wake up time LOL!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Just Us Girls #221 - Photo Inspiration

 photo JUGS221picA.jpg

This week Lisa has provided this fun inspiration picture for us to work from.  Hard to believe 2013 is almost over!  It's been quite the year and I'm actually looking forward to a fresh starts in 2014.

I decided to go the tag route this time and focused on the gold and sparkle.  Some shimmer paper from the dollar store (oh how I love our local dollar store!) and Reverse Confetti's tag die (loooove this die!) along with PTI's number border die and I was good to go.

The rest of the  JUGS team, along with our fabulous December GD Jan Del Bone (thanks for your awesome cards this month, Jan!), have some wonderful samples to get your inspiration going, so head on over to the Just Us Girls blog and check out what they've created.  Then put your creative genes to work and add your card/project to the challenge post on the JUGS blog for the chance to be chosen as the Chic of the Week.  Plus if you are chosen as Chic of the Week, you could be invited to be a Guest Designer.

Have a great weekend!
