Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Sweet Snowflake Reminder

CC Dec 15th photo CCDec15picA.jpg

We are half way through the current Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge entitled Sweet Snowflakes.   Uniko Studio is our sponsor for this challenge and I am gleefully using their Stunning Snowflakes set.  Love the mix of snowflake images and they have a matching die set too.

I am stretching myself waaay out of my comfort zone and going to the CAS side for this card.  Chose to use this FTL sketch, and since I don't own an aqua ink pad (definitely need to fix that soon!), I went with turquoise and pink instead.  Added some bling in the middle of the snowflakes for a little dimension and sparkle and couldn't resist this cute tag.  As for the sentiment, one snowfall would be nice so the kids can have fun building snowmen and sledding in it, and then it can go away LOL!

You can check out all the challenge details over on the Curtain Call Inspirations Challenge.  You have until December 25th at 8:00 a.m. CST to complete a new card/project using the inspiration picture and linking it up accordingly.

Thanks for popping by and hope you can find some time to play along with us!

CAS Mother's Day Card

Mday photo MDay3picA.jpg

Had to switch things up a bit as I was getting tired of pink and yellow Mother's Day cards.  This card  uses Fall To Layout #235 and it is a CASE of a card I saw using it, but for the life of me I can't find out who it was!!  If you recognize your layout, please let me know so I can give you credit!

Love this Verve flower from Petals and Stems!  Such a great little flower and the polka dotted leaves have always stolen my heart.  It was my very first Verve flower set and I still love it :)

Short and sweet today as it's a busy week!   Thanks for dropping by!

Blessed

VLVJan2013

Diva Charmaine came up with this wonderful CAS design for this week's Verve sketch.

Since I popped over the line today to pick up new stamping goodies (compliments of some birthday money - happy sigh), I just "had" to initiate some of it wink, wink :)

I used PTI's word die and linen impression plate (which as been on my wish list forever!).  Then I stamped this fabulous Verve butterfly and had to fussy cut it as I don't have the matching die - yet LOL!  Twinkling H2O's provided my method of colouring and I used green so I could enter this week's Play Date Cafe challenge to use black, shite and a splash of green on a card.  The butterfly seemed a bit lonely up there all by itself, so a trail of half pearls solved that issue.  Think this is about as CAS as I can get :)

Now the waiting game begins - who will be the lucky winner of a $100 Verve gift certificate.  I'd be happy to comply and call it a belated birthday gift!!

Wishing you a wonderful day :)

Washi Tape is in Da House and A Giveaway!!

Freckled Fawn recently contacted me to see if I would be willing to create some cards showcasing some of their washi tape.  They have also graciously provided a $15 washi tape gift certificate to their store!  Hello!

Having never used washi tape before (yes...once again I'm behind on the trends)  I jumped at the chance to create with it and now fully appreciate why people love it so much :)   It is so fun and easy to use!  Add that to the fact that it comes in a myriad of patterns and colours and there is no end to how you can use it on a card, scrapbook layout or project!

My first card uses this fabulous black and white washi!  Love the pattern on this tape!  It's so elegant and perfect for a black and white card.  I flipped a recent Paper Players sketch, and added pops of colour with the rose and butterfly.

2012 Faves

My second card uses this fabulous CAS Fall To Layout and some orange, chevron, washi tape.  Loving these chevrons!   Freckled Fawn has them in a variety of colours too!  I paired the washi tape with some kraft and used Twinkling H2O's to colour this wonderful Verve pumpkin image.   A fun, Fall, thank you card which I can easily use for our Canadian Thanksgiving this coming weekend.

Washi Tape

Now for the Freckled Fawn giveaway!  All you need to do is leave me a comment by Saturday, October 6th at midnight, letting me know if you've ever used washi tape before, and if you have, what types of projects you have used it on.  A winner will be randomly selected and announced on Sunday, October 7th.  The winner will have 48 hours to contact me.  Should they not contact me within the specified time frame, I'll select an alternate winner until the prize is claimed.  Good luck!

In closing, a very special thank you to the ladies at Freckled Fawn for this wonderful opportunity.  I may have found a new addiction...!

Have a blessed day everyone and thanks for stopping by!

Stamping Up Only Card

When I first saw this sketch I ran for the hills!  But then I won some paper on Christine's blog and sure shootin', there was a piece in there that was perfect for this sketch!

I went for a more masculine card due to the bold circles.  Even dug deep into the bowls of my stamp cupboard and found this great Stampin' Up set that hasn't seen ink in years!!  Must say it was tough lining the sentiment parts up as I am so used to using clear stamps where you can see where you are stamping!  Couldn't find my Stamp-a-ma-jig to line things up so practiced on a scrap piece of paper and then stamped it for real on a hope and prayer.  Lucky for me, the stars were aligned as it was straight LOL!

As I was typing up this post, I realized this is a Stampin' Up only card!  Don't remember the last time I made one of those!  Nice to pay tribute to the company that got me into stamping :)

Just Because It's a Three For

Had to play along with this week's clean and simple FTL (Fall To Layout) as I just loved the sketch.

The card become a three for - whoo hoo!  I combined the FTL sketch with this week's Dynamic Duos challenge (yellow and black and even managed to include the dessert option of dry embossing), and this week's Paper Players challenge (a CAS card using polka dots).  Just missed qualifying for the  Play Date Cafe (black and white and mustard yellow) as I've got the wrong colour yellow...oh well...maybe next time :)

Hard to keep away from the bumble bee look when you use black and yellow, so I went with a butterfly as an ode to the bumble bee (it's a fellow winged insect), minimized the black, and used lots of white.  Hopefully I was successful - have one vote from hubby saying I was :)

Thanks for dropping by.  Have some Verve sketches to catch up on so should be back soon.

Look Ma, It's Not A Mother's Day Card!!

This card "accidentally" fell together.  I had some scraps on my desk and they were laying on top of each other when my eye caught the arrangement and I thought "hmmm...that could make a nice card".

A CAS card which makes me wish I had the PTI linen impression plate so I could add a subtle bit of texture on the large white panel.  But alas, no such template (yet LOL!) so it stayed plain old, smooth white - gasp!

Busy weekend coming up with hubby out of town and my having to juggle the kids' weekend activities solo.  Going to be a very tight squeeze getting from the soccer game to the music festival today, but barring any accidents along the way, everything should work out.  If not, my son gets left at the soccer field LOL - just kidding!

Enjoy your weekend :)

CAS Mother's Day Card Round One

Trusting you all had a fabulous Easter weekend. Ours was busy, but very, very enjoyable. Always fun to spend time with family and I am so blessed to have such amazing in-laws :)

This FTL sketch intrigued me so I decided to give it a try.  Think my tank was low after our busy weekend as I had a tough time with it...or maybe I just don't have enough DP options to make it work LOL!  Now that's an excuse to go paper shopping if I ever had one!

Not totally satisfied with the end result, so the competitive side of me says I may just have to give it a second go round to see if I can improve on it.

Thanks for the visit :)

Casing Vicki D

I just loved this fabulous, CAS Valentine's Day card Vicki posted on her blog last week (second card on her post).  I switched out the colours, added a ribbon across the top and a button on the heart. The sentiment is from Verve's Love Notes.  Love this set as it has so many wonderful Valentine's sentiments.

If I had PTI's linen embossing plate in my possession rather than on my wish list, I would have used it on the card front for a bit of soft texture.  Thanks to some birthday money, it will soon be off my wish list and in my hot little hands :)

Off to drive my daughter to her Grade 3 piano exam.  She's doing her Grade 3 exam today and then her Grade 4 exam in June as it is a challenge year - one in which she does two grades in one year.  Sure she will do wonderfully well as she has a natural gift for playing and the songs she chose this time round she has mastered fabulously :)  So proud of her!

Love You So Much

Last week's FTL was a great one.  So many ways you can use this sketch I will definitely be using it again.

In my never ending quest to delve into my "left over" box, I found this "U" and decided to use it as my starting point for this card.  Since the sentiment is geared toward a Valentine type card, but the U was die cut from mellow moss, I had to change it up a bit and make a masculine version.  A good card to have in my stash for hubby :)

Consider yourselves loved too, as I appreciate each and every one of your visits to my little piece of blog land :)

Inkspirations Colour Challenge #88

These were some bright colours and it took me a bit of thinking to put them together as they are far from my normal selection, but then that's why it's called a challenge, right?!  A kick in the butt keeps you on your toes, or in my case, leaves a bruise LOL!

Since my mojo was awol, I opted to go CAS in the hopes I could make it work.  I used a CPS sketch from a few weeks ago as it was perfect for a bit of colour against a lot of white.  Pulled out this cute Studio G set, and my Twinkling H2O colouring wasn't all that swift....butt still being kicked LOL!  I bow in the general direction of this colour combo - it beat me fair and square!  Next week will I'll do better, promise :)

Think it's time to move on to the rest of the Design Team for some fabulous inspiration.

June Papertrey Blog Hop Challenge

Welcome to PTI's July Blog Hop.  This month's hop challenge was to use this inspiration picture.  I loved the ribbons of colour and the baby theme so that is what I went with.

I used a Clean and Simple layout as it had three horizontal bands of colour in the sketch.  This fun polka dotted Echo Park paper was a perfect match as I was able to pull in the colours of the dresses on the hooks and the green giraffe from the colour at the top of the wall.  Needless to say, there are a lot of dots on this card!

The giraffe needed a little something so I added a twine bow to his neck and finished things off by using Dawn's wonderful Signature Greetings baby sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by today.

The Thank Yous Continue

In the continuation of my thank you card quest, here is another one!  It uses another FTL sketch (love these sketches!) and started off a bit  more CAS but something was missing so I kept adding to it.  Think it is the DP only having two colours and the dominant one being white.

Regardless, I was able to use my new PTI flower die so I was a happy stamper :)  Some pearls zipped things up a bit and I scored the mellow moss background layer because the other ones overpowered the DP.

Note to self:  have a stash of Thank You cards ready before the end of school next year LOL!

Falling for Black and White

Loved this FTL sketch and decided to use it for - you guessed it - another thank you card!  Almost done now - phew!

Found this scrap of Costco DP and went from there.  I just love black and white cards and this one came together quickly by adding a touch of greys - bonus!

A bit of ribbon, a butterfly (sorry, still addicted to this punch...), some half pearls and a touch of bling for that little "zip" and I was a happy stamper :)    It also qualifies for this week's Just Add Ink challenge.

Thanks for visiting and have a fabulous day!
