Freebie Friday for the Shoe Lover
Hi all! So glad it's Friday! I've got a fun giveaway today...if you're a Shoe Lover, you'll love this little notebook. Here's a look:
The shoe is from the Things I Love stamp set and the fun paper is Razzleberry Lemonade DSP with Crushed Curry in the background. Wanna see a couple more pictures? Here you go:
The notebook fits a 5"x8" junior legal pad, so it would be handy for taking notes by your computer or bringing to work to jot notes down in. Here's a look at the inside.
The left side is a little pocket folder edged with scalloped trim {a little extra detail for ya!} that you can put cards, coupons, or whatever in, and then I added the scalloped envelope on the outer side of the pocket so you can put stuff like stamps or business cards in. How do you like it? It's a slightly modified version of the notebooks I was making before, in that this one has an extra pocket on the cover. Ingenious huh? Well, I got this brilliant idea from Mish Wooderson's blog. She made planners for the holidays last year. I'll be scheduling a class to make a Holiday notebook soon, so if you're local in the LA area of Southern CA, stay tuned!
Now, to play in this week's Freebie Friday, all you need to do is leave me a comment on this post with either your email address or blog address (basically so I can get in touch with you). Leave the comment by midnight on Sunday, September 27th and I'll be announcing the winner on Monday, Sep 28th. So, you can comment about anything, or answer this question: When do you start getting ready for the Christmas/Hanukkah Holiday Season?
I look forward to reading your comments! Have a great weekend :)

Something to Cheer about!
I'm thinking of making my Bruin Cheerleader a magnet so we can stick her on the fridge for the season :) She is just adorable!
Here's how I made her pom poms - punch out three 1 inch circles from wrapping tissue paper for each pom pom. TIP: sandwich the tissue paper between 2 pieces of regular paper for easy punching. Otherwise, you'll notice that the tissue "gives" too much to punch cleanly. Put a dot of the Tombo glue in the center of one tissue circle and layer the next 2 pieces on top. Let dry, then scrunch up and fluff. Adhere to bear paws with a glue dot. Viola - you're done.
{Bruin Cheerleader}Thanks for letting me share :) Have a good one!

My Bruin Bear
With football season upon us, how could I not make my little bear a football player? Afterall, a Bruin is a Bear ;)
Isn't he a handsome guy? He looks pretty athletic, too! Maybe it's his UCLA jersey with the racing stripes. Here's a closer look at him and his throwing arm:
He's got quite a grip on his custom made football. Here's a peek at how I made it using the 1" circle punch.
I first punched the circle and then slid the circle back through about 1/2 way on the punch and punched again. Then, I went back and ran the piece through the big shot small polka dot texturz plate. I sponged the edges with craft ink and drew in the stitching with the gel pen. Viola!
Since my hubby and I are cross-town rivals in the household, I will probably have to make an SC football player, too. But I'm ok with that from an overall Pac-10 perspective. I have to give credit where credit is due - I was inspired by Pamela Knox and her post on SCS. She made an awesome bear! For those of you that are big football fans, you too can make a customized bear for your fave team ;)
{Bruin Bear Card stats}Looks like he's off to a strong season this year at the Rose Bowl. Let's wish him luck!

*Cardstock: So Saffron, Old Olive, Bliss Blue {retired}, Ruby Red, Whisper White, Soft Suede, Basic Black

Ghosts of Freebie Friday
As you can probably deduce from my last couple of posts, I'm pretty caught up in a Halloween vibe that also involves the Twick or Tweet stamp set from the Holiday Mini. I do love this set! I have yet to use the pumpkins, so that will have to be coming soon, cuz I just can't leave them out - they're super cute as well! I played with the Shimmer paints in the frosty white to give my little ghost some texture and sheen. I also sponge daubered a little bit of that shimmer paint onto the Tangerine Tango die cut mat behind the ghosts. I used the Matchbox Bigz XL die to create this little favor. For the outer slide cover, I actually ran 2 sheets - one in black and the other in the tangerine tango {I was surprised to find that I was all out of Pumpkin Pie cardstock and all I had in the orange family was the Tangerine Tango}. Isn't this a fun Halloween favor? Here's the recipe:
{Ghosts of Freebie Friday Matchbox}Well in order to win this freebie, just leave me a comment along with your blog website or email address on this post by midnight on Sunday, September 13th! You can comment about anything or answer this question: Do you decorate your home for Halloween? Or, do you have any Halloween traditions? I'd love to hear about them! I only sort of decorate for Halloween. I have my candy jar, and a couple of Halloween knick knacks, but that's about it. I'm inspired to create some Halloween favors this year for my co-workers, just so I can use this adorable Twick or Tweet stamp set and also use my die cut boxes! But, sometimes my best intentions get sidelined due to lack of time. So, we'll see how it goes. If only there were 5 more hours in a day, huh?!
*Stamps: Twick or Tweet
*Cardstock: Basic Black, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White
*Ink: Basic Black, Basic Gray classic stamp pads
*Accessories: Scallop Border, Modern Label, 1 3/8" circle punches; Matchbox Biz XL die cut, Frost White Shimmer Paint
Anyway, come back on Monday to find out who the winner is! I hope you leave me a comment ;)
Good luck!
Mojo 103 Halloween Style
Hello there! It's been a few weeks since I've done a Mojo Monday challenge {I know, it's already Friday, but it counts!}, and since this week's happened to be a contest one, I thought I would eek a card in. I've had Halloween on the brain, so I decided to go with an idea inspired by the flyer I created earlier today. The black and white polka dots have mesmerized me, I think! Here's my card:
And here's a look at the Mojo sketch, for comparison:
I had fun making this card - I love working with the thick black and white striped ribbon. I started off with one button, but I wanted to try a different look and cinched it up a couple times. I thought it looked kind of fun. Hope you like it! Here's the recipe:
{Halloween Bite}Thanks for coming by!

Workshop at my house this Sunday!
Hey there! For all you local folks in the Los Angeles/South Bay/Long Beach area of SoCal that might be interested, I'm having a workshop this Sunday at my home! Contact me to get directions (my email is in the right sidebar of my blog)!
By the way - like my little flyer? I created it using the My Digital Studio program! Not only is it awesome for digital scrapbooking and cards, it's a great tool for creating graphics that can be used online on websites, newsletters and any electronic communications as well. My Digital Studio will be available for customers to order starting on October 1st.
On another note, are you ready for Freebie Friday? I promise it's coming, but I'll be posting it later today, so check back this evening! Have a great one in the meantime :)

{Take 2} - First project revisited...
So, I got to play with the My Digital Studio {aka MDS} program a little more tonight and decided that my first pass of my scrapbook page looked a little blah, after figuring out how to do some things. It's amazing what you can do when you click around and go about things via trial and error! After spending about an hour getting my bearings on all the different elements - papers, stamps, embellishments, various doo-dads, etc. - here's the stepped up version AND a second facing page, even! I know, check me out, huh?! {wink wink..this is somewhat new-ish to me}
I am a techie sort of geek anyway, so I'm finding this new application pretty fun. It's actually really simple and intuitive to use so far. Now, there is still a lot I need to figure out, but I think I can safely say that I can get by with some basics. Probably enough to put a book or 2 together! Wow - this is really a breakthrough for me, because I have about a decade's worth of pictures that need to be scrapbooked. I had every intention to do it the traditional way, though I have to say this digital scrapbooking method is pretty darn fun and efficient, since all your pics are on your computer anyway. {At least, most of mine are!}
I haven't even begun to think about the card possibilities with this MDS application, but I know it'll probably bring a whole new meaning to card sketches for me :) My preliminary review of this app gets a definite thumbs up.
PS - just wanted to note that all the background papers, embellishments, and page layouts are from the MDS app, although the fonts I used are what I had already downloaded onto my computer.

Introducing my first My Digital Studio Project
Hi there! I know it's late, but my copy of Stampin'Up!'s My Digital Studio just arrived today, so I had to install it and test it out when I got home from work. I'm still learning to navigate and do things, though I managed to create a simple 8x8 page. Mind you, I don't scrapbook as much as I should {that is, digitally OR on actual paper} so this is quite an accomplishment for me! My first impression so far is that it's pretty fun and easy to use. I definitely need to spend more time testing things out. Here's my first layout:
The picture layout was one of the ones I could pick from, but I did create the background, font, and "stamped" image myself. So....whaddayathink? It's a rough cut, I know, though it was fun to make! That's it for now. Chat with you guys tomorrow.
