Craft Area Tour

Morning!

Today I am taking you on a tour of my Craft Area.

It's one of my favorite places in my home to spend my time.

Over the past year or so I have been round up thrift store and garage sale items.  Even made a few things to add to the room to make it more functional.

After a fresh new cleaning and organizing session the space is looking oh so pretty and I thought today was the day to share it with you.

Stocking Stuffer Idea's for Teenager's

Good Morning!

With three, beautiful girls in my life ranging from pre-teen to a Junior in High School I have been struggling with finding age appropriate items for their Christmas Stockings.

This process seemed so much easier when they were younger . . . but fortunately I have found some winners I think.

So in case your like me and struggling a bit with this whole stocking stuffer task I've put together a short video highlighting a few items that I think work well.

It's not just for girls either, I have a round-up of gender neutral ideas, some idea's for the gentlemen teenagers as well as a healthy dose of items for the ladies.

Enjoy!

I hope your all having a fabulous day . . . we're getting a bunch of snow here . . . Yipppeee!

Talk to you soon,

Robin

I'm Coming Back - - Really I Am!

Ummmm,

So it turns out that one month summer break I decided to take way back in July has somehow turned into three months!

I miss it so much!

I miss you all so much!

I want to jump back in but crazy things are going on around here and I need to use all my energy just to keep up.

My plan at the moment is to ride this month out and then come December showcase a few holiday decorated rooms throughout the month.

Come January, I'd like to be ready to start back to blogging full time!

Yippee!

In the meantime,

if you didn't know I started a youtube channel a while back.

On it I have tutorials on projects I've made but also I post weekly vlogs about the daily happenings in our home.

If your interested, it's a good way to see what I have been up to and some sneak peaks into what maybe showing up on the blog soon.

Craft Studio Tour

Good Morning!

Today I'm sharing with you my favorite space in the whole house.

My Craft Studio!

It's really just a glorified name for a small section of our family room but it's all mine and I love it completely.

Nothing makes me happier than being able to spend a couple hours here singing along to my favorite tunes and contently working away on a project.

This is where just about ever project in the house starts out.  Whether I'm sewing, painting, building or just dreaming,  this is the spot . . . my haven . . .

So lets get this tour started!

All the magic happens at this great big desk.

My husband loathes it, I adore it.

I found it at a church sale two years ago for a whopping ten bucks for both the desk and the storage cabinet table.  Both are heavy as sin, vintage metal office furniture that makes me feel like I should be an extra on Mad Men when I sit behind my desk.  The wood tones on the tops are not a perfect match, but I can roll with it.

After trying countless configurations for both big pieces in this small space I realized they were the same height and tried arranging them back to back.

It worked perfectly and now I have this great bit space to spread out all my supplies on!

Plus all the storage - oh the storage - is amazing!  I have almost all of my vintage sheet collection (which is large), fabric for future projects, paint, sewing supplies, books, and massive amounts of crafting supplies all neatly organized inside these draws and cabinets.

It's amazing!

On top of the desk I keep a few handy items within reach.

An old Pepsi crate helps me corral colored pencils, fabric scraps, and multiple crafting supplies I tend to reach for often.

Next to the crate I have placed a vintage toolbox filled with mason jars.

The jars hold paint brushes, pens/pencils, scissors, glue sticks, screw drivers, wire cutters, can openers and so much more.

It's so handy to have everything at your fingertips when your working on a project.

On the side of the desk I have propped up a  homemade ironing board and placed a over-sized basket filled with fabric. The pillow on top helps hide the mess inside the basket, LOL.

I also added this tiny little shelf.  It hold my vintage button collection, a jar of ribbon scraps, safety pins, quilting pins and other small items that I have placed in jars.  On top is the home for my power drill.  It seems like I need it on an almost daily basis and after a long time of having to go dig it out all the time I decided this was it's new spot - - not very pretty but VERY handy!

Above the desk I have hung this oversized wicker lamp that I picked up from Ikea.

At first I didn't think I liked it, but now it don't know what I would do without it.

Truly love it now.

Moving away from the desk and onto the rest of the space . . .

I have a ticking stripe covered arm chair and a foot stool for when I'm working on a hand sewing project or looking through a magazine.

Next to it have have a vintage typewriter table that I use as a side table.  The top holds a jar of embroidery thread, a lamp, a vintage camera for fun and scented candle of some sort which I change up frequently.

On the makeshift shelf the legs create I have placed my CD player so I get my jam on when wanted.

Above the chair and table I have hung a set of display shelves.  I adore these things.  Years ago they hung in my living room but have spent a while in storage until just recently when I busted them out again.

To the shelves I've added a sampling of things that both inspire and delight me.

Vintage clocks, candles, pretty photos and drawing my talents little artists have drawn.
I have added a few CD sleeves of my favorite tunes of late also, the covers are so pretty why wouldn't I add them to the mix.

That my friends brings us to the end of this little tour.

Sure hope you enjoyed following along as I shared my happy place with you.

bye now,

Robin

Organizing My Life - A New Life Planner

Does anyone besides me get excited about a brand-spank'n new calendar?

Something about it gets me excited for the possibilities to come!

This year I splurged on an Erin Condren Life Planner!

Lucky Me!

You can check out the website I ordered it from here.

I've been impatiently awaiting it's arrival for a couple weeks now until the glorious day when it finally arrived.

Ever since I've been in planning heaven!

If your unfamiliar with Erin Condren planners you have a choice from loads of different cover types and colors.  Plus you can pick between a horizontal or vertical layout for your weekly layout pages.

I picked the "Paint It Plaid" cover in red - surprise, surprise
With a vertical layout for the weekly pages.

In anticipation for the arrival of my new calendar, I also bought myself some pretty pens and a new package of post-it notes.

As soon as I had the new calendar in my grubby little hands I couldn't wait to sit down and start filling it up!

I thought giving you a quick tour about how I've set up the calendar might be fun but first let me explain what's got me so excited about this calendar.

In the past to keep myself organized I've used a combination of a simple monthly spread calendar, a notebook and a scratch pad to keep track of family appointments, blog posts, projects, etc.  It worked well, but I have not been very fond of having multiple items to keep track of and flip through when I was looking for something specific.

Enter my new Life Planner.

I now have space to plan out family activities, blog posts, and meal plans, plus room for monthly and weekly to-do lists and misc. items I want to remember.

All in one handy-dandy space!

Can you see why I'm so excited!

Lets get to that tour . . .

First up, the monthly layout spread. . .

Each month has a heavy duty tab, to help me flip from month to month quickly.

Plus each month has a different color scheme which I love - makes me think I have a brand new calendar each month!

This layout is perfect for giving me a quick glance at the month as a whole.

But the thing I love most is that there is space for me to list out all the projects I'd like to get done throughout the month too!

After each monthly layout page, the weeks are divided up into a two page weekly layouts.

With the vertical layout I picked, each day has three blank boxes to use however you'd like, plus a small lined area at the bottom for extra notes and such as you can see in the photos above and below.

Here is how I've decided to use the weekly layout to keep me organized.

The top box will keep track of any household or family activities planned for the day.

The second box is used to list our evening dinner meal.

The third box will list any blog post I have planned for the day.

Below the boxes I will keep track of any vlogging video's or photo's I take throughout the week to make it easier when I put together videos or make weekly photo collages.

Off to the left is a space to list the projects I want to complete for the week.

Wow, do I feel organized now!

What a great feeling!

How about you, have you got your new 2016 calendar all ready for the year!

Would love to hear how you keep track of things.

Robin
