mega gabbies

It's been an awards explosion all over Blogville the last few weeks and I've been lucky enough to have some of them tossed my way. I do love awards. They're like books. You can never have too many. And they look so nice when they're displayed.

I was going to not worry a huge amount about who already has what when I pass them on, since I'd like to get this post done in less than a week. But in spite of my plans I did end up taking a peek to see who has what posted. Even so, I'm sure some of these will be duplicates. Que sera sera.

There are some people I'd be thrilled to hand things off to, but they've already got everything I have and more. (Are you listening laurie, jo and akelamalu?) So consider yourselves awarded in spirit, if not the flesh).

A special award should go to Jo for actually having the nerve to give Willowtree a Spreader of Love Award. (and darn her for beating me to it). I shudder to think of the end result of that photoshop session. Can you shudder in anticipation? Uh...

And can I just say one more thing about awards? They're wonderful to get - no doubt. But boy do these babies take time. (If you don't know what I mean - don't worry. You will). This entire post was brought to you by the blog firm of Browse, Cut, Paste and Link.

In order of appearance, this one comes from Dumdad, Omega Mum, laurie, Rose and mother of this lot. Wow. Don't make me pull out my Sally Field picture again. Once was enough, don't you think? Here's the story behind this award:

I love being a part of the blogging community and part of all the friendships that I've formed so I wanted to give a blog award for all of you out there that have Excellent Blogs. By accepting this Excellent Blog Award, you have to award it to 10 more people whose blogs you find Excellent Award worthy. You can give it to as many people as you want but please award at least 10.

Excellent. This award is E for Excellent. I love it.

Thank you all so much. I'm passing this on to -

Diary of a Housewife
laughing alone in the dark
The Misadventures of Adulthood
Musings of a Muse
Now is Good
Piffle
Summit Musings
Tiggerlane
Twaddle everyday rubbish
Blog to the Bone

This one is from ann at For the Long Run. In honor of this award I decided to finally change a few things around on the blog, basically changing one boring but pretty beach scene for another boring but pretty beach scene. I have other ideas that are way more creative. I just don't have a clue how to do them. This is why there isn't a Competent Blogger Award on my sidebar.

Thanks, ann!

This goes on to -

A Life of Triggers
Omega Mum
mother of this lot
Lil Mouse
Wakeupandsmellthecoffee
Big Blue Barn West
Myanderings

The Mwah! is from Mya at Missing You Already. Mya and I have been swapping awards since the great 2007 stone age, and somehow she knew how I was coveting this one. She's intuitive like that.

‘It’s a big kiss, of the chaste, platonic kind, from me to you with the underlying ‘thanks’ message implied. I really do appreciate your support and your friendship, and yes, your comments.’

A big Mwah! back at ya!

I'm flinging a Mwah! at -

A Snowball's Chance in...
Crystal Jigsaw
For the Long Run
La Vie en Rose
Lost in the Bible Belt
Motes
The Other Side of Paris
Swearing Mother
Temporary Insanity
Heeeeere, Storkey, Storkey!

The Spreader of Love Award is from Jo Beaufoix, another of the Stone Age gals. (I mean it in the nicest way, sweetie). And I love the award!

This one is off to -

Whew. I'm spent.

Your turn.

random memes and gabbies

I've been tagged by Lil Mouse at The Name Was Over The Door for a Seven Random Things Meme and I have to say that something like this is right up my alley at the moment. I'm feeling very random and can't seem to locate my attention span. Perfect!

#1. When I was in High School we had a serial killer (the Hillside Strangler) wreaking havoc way too close to home. One day in our Current Events class several Pasadena police officers came to teach us how to get away if we were attacked. They showed us how to do it and then brought us up, one by one, to the front of the class. They put enough pressure on our neck to really hurt and kept it up until we broke free. One girl panicked and actually passed out. Can you imagine pulling something like this now?

#2. Nothing in the world is inedible if it is covered in Blue Cheese dressing. Put on a little freshly ground pepper and even my gym shoe would be a delicacy.

#3. I'm a big fan of the sitcom. I think a really well done sitcom is an art form all its own. So many of them are badly done that when one is executed well it's a true achievement. Some of my favorites over the years - Mad About You, Scrubs, and possibly the best written sitcom ever - Frasier.

#4. When I had my appendix out when I was fifteen, my hospital roommate was Lenny Bruce's mother. That woman was funny. My stitches hated her.

#5. The veins on my arms are so visible that in anatomy class people used me to diagram on. I look like a road map.

#6. I'm one of those people who simply stop eating when I'm really stressed. Not stress as in a bad day or cranky kids or uncooperative checking account balances, but stress as in crisis. Not unsurprisingly, there's an eating disorder in my past.

#7. I love getting awards, but I totally stink at acknowledging them. I don't know why that is, but there you have it. Actually, I do know why it is, now that I think about it. I have huge problems passing them on, because I want to give them to everyone and hate having to choose. I'm feeling a little reckless at the moment, so this isn't going to be your typical awards show.

I've been really slow in passing these on, so please forgive me. I appreciate them all more than you know, and hopefully they haven't spoiled for the waiting.

To start with, look at what laurie has done. She's passed two awards along this way. Bless her heart. (And question her judgment).

The first is A Roar For Powerful Words!, which kind of speaks for itself. This award originated at this site, and is intended to acknowledge roaring bloggers . I myself feel I'm more deserving of a Whining Blogger Award, but I'll take it.

I'm passing this on to -

aims at Big Blue Barn West. Because she blows me away more with every post.

And then there's this Best Blogging Buddies Award. Is this not the cutest thing you've ever seen? (Okay, it would be cuter with puppies, I'll give you that. But still).

This is tough. I refuse to choose. If you're reading this you qualify. So snag this baby and post it!

From Dumdad at The Other Side of Paris, comes this You Make My Day Award that he created specially for a lucky bunch of us. Succinct and to the point. Can you tell it came from a journalist? I love it! Thanks, Dumdad.

And I didn't mention Clint Eastwood once. Let him start his own blog.

Last, but certainly not least, comes the You Cheer Me Up Award from Eileen at A Life of Triggers.

I'm a huge I Love Lucy fan, and this episode still cracks me up, so this award cheers me up no end. Thanks, Eileen!

You know what? I refuse to choose here, either. It's Open Awards Season - claim it!

Since I don't play by the rules these will probably be the last awards I'll ever get. I'll treasure them always.

Seriously Late Awards (and a rap)

I hate to admit how far behind I am on acknowledging some very cool awards that have been sent my way. Can we chalk it up to vacations and holidays or do I have to fess up that I've lived up (or down) to my moniker? The Rotten Acknowledger strikes again.
Also, I apologize in advance, because I have layout issues here that I can't seem to fix. Grr...

Dumdad at The Other Side of Paris designed this The Other Side of Paris salutes you! award on the event of his 99th post, and says:

To celebrate this momentous occasion I am handing out a special award to some fellow bloggers who have made this blogging lark so much fun.

Well, I know just how he feels, because his blog brightens up my life on a regular basis. I'll even overlook the Marmite for him. (You know I have to really like him to say that).

Thanks, Dumdad!

And from Jo Beaufoix comes the first ever I made someone Laugh so much their head fell off Award. Yowzah! For me?
Seriously, thanks, Jo!

This was Jo's reasoning:

Miss RC at Confessions of a Rotten Correspondent for her wit and her ability to find humour in the worst possible situations.

Well, as I always say - if you can't laugh...

Presumably, she's found her head because look what else she's gone and done...

She's passed on this Fab Award as well. Jo continues to humor me in spite of all the opposing evidence. One of these days she'll catch on, but until then I'll just continue to accept these "fab" awards from her - very gratefully.

Thanks, Jo!

But wait! There's more! (Maybe her head really did fall off. Uh.Oh). Also from Jo comes this Community Blogger Award. This award originated with CelloBella at Sultana.Blog and is to acknowledge those bloggers who become part of the blogging community with a vengeance.

Isn't that all of us? As one of many who has spent the better part of the last couple of days mentally traipsing the Australian countryside calling for a lost puppy, I very much feel the community aspect of BlogVille. And when your mother (in California) calls you (in the Midwest) and says "Did you see that Belle (in Australia) is back?" you realize just how strong that community is.

Just the way I like it.

I can't get the photo to show up, but The Spirit of Christmas Award is from Akelamalu at Everything and Nothing. The creators of this award at Santa's Community Blog say this about it:

What is the Spirit of Christmas you ask?

Quite simply it is those that have a generous and giving nature. Those who care about others. Those who have a kind word to say or a broad shoulder to lean on in the times that others need that. Those who display the "Spirit of Christmas".

Again, isn't that all of us? How many of you responded to my "Meltdown" post with broad shoulders and kind words? Hmm?? A lot of you, that's how many.

Thanks, Akelamalu!

This Break Out Blogger Award comes from wakeupandsmellthecoffee
and she passed it on so long ago she's probably forgotten all about it. I'M SORRY!! I am not worthy.

You all thought Rotten Correspondent was just something I made up, didn't you?

Thanks, wakeup! I really do appreciate it!

And in the spirit of the season, if you want one of these awards feel free to take it. (Except for the first two because they really aren't mine to pass on). My thought is that if you've read this far and want it - it's yours! We all deserve them.

As a thank you for sitting through my Awards Show (and navigating the white space), here's a video I stumbled across recently. This was put together by a real ER crew in Alabama as part of a competition, and it is really funny (although maybe a little hard to hear). Enjoy!

The Intellectual Boomerang Gabbies

It's Awards Sunday at casa de Rotten Correspondent. And today there are some very interesting awards to be discussed and passed out.

First up is the Dingo ll Award courtesy of willowtree at A Dingo's got my Barbie. For those of you who aren't familiar with willowtree and his oh so warped way of looking at things, this is an award for giving him an award. Now normally, an award from willowtree isn't something you'd really want. If you don't believe me, click here. Send the children and skittish animals out of the room first or be prepared to clean up the mess. Even giving him an award is problematic, since he erroneously assumes we do it just to see how he mutilates personalizes them in his own inimitable style. There are plenty of other reasons we pass awards his way. I just can't think of them right now.

He has a devoted group of followers whom he abuses on a regular basis (and who abuse him, now that I think about it) and yet we continue to go back for more. Why is this, you ask? Well, I hate to blow his cover (NOT) but he's really a hell of a nice guy under the dog loving dominatrix from down under persona he perpetuates. I say this carefully, as I've learned the hard way that if you say anything nice to or about him he makes you pay. Compliment him in comments at your own risk. Snark is his native tongue. Of course, sarcasm is mine. Bring it on, Peter.

And if anyone has any old Richard Simmons exercise videos they've finished using, send them my way. We're putting together a little goodie box for his exercise viewing pleasure regime .

Then there's laurie at Three Dog Blog who was still so dazed from all the massive quantities of alcohol fabulous hiking she enjoyed on her vacation that she gave me this Intellectually Stimulating Blog Award. I'm about as intellectually stimulating as ketchup on a doughnut, but who am I to argue with a woman who mistakes hush puppies for dinner rolls? Clearly, she's capable of just about anything. You're looking at the evidence.

I get to pass this on to three truly deserving bloggers and I'm going with

Jen at A Snowball's Chance...
Jo Beaufoix
Mya at Missing You Already

because each of them, in their own way, broaden my horizons and brighten my life.

Jen has given me a real education of radio production, song lyrics and the healing properties of Duke's Mayonnaise. She also provides a fresh look at Life In The South, which I've been too close to to really appreciate.

Jo has taught me that my inner craving for all things British is the right way to think after all. She has a lovely sense of putting things together, whether she's discussing rainbow poop or rampaging slugs. And I hope to never see those two things together in a sentence again.

Mya provides a window into life in France as seen through British eyes. This is fascinating enough, but oh my god, the swear words and slang I have learned from her boggle the mind. Naive that I am, I thought it pretty much started and stopped with bollocks and the like. I'm so proud to have been proven wrong. And I can't wait to use them on some unsuspecting git.

You don't get much more stimulating than that.

*************************************************************************************
*************************************************************************************
Also, I fixed the Book Club and Babes "R" Us sidebars so that when you hit where it says Click Here, it actually works.

Maybe laurie was on to something after all.

the gabbies - again

Can we just say it's been an embarrassment of riches in the last few weeks and leave it at that? This is why I love the Internet, because if any of you knew me in real life you'd laugh your butts off at the thought of anyone awarding me anything. Except a speeding ticket or a court summons. Or an involuntary stay at a rest home. Maybe even all of the above.

I feel a little like good old Sally Field clutching her Oscar, without the diarrhea of the mouth that has haunted her ever since. I can come up with my own ridiculous comments to haunt me, thank you very much.

And speaking of thank you very much...

It's time for The Gabbies!

This Bodacious Blog Award comes from Jo Beaufoix who, for reasons
known only to herself, continues to humor me in these areas. Surely she has reasons. Doesn't she? Hmmm....perhaps I owe her money and have forgotten about it. That would be just like me lately. Jo, if that's the case throw me a rescue line and let me know, would you? (I'll probably not pay you back, but at least I won't lay awake nights wondering).

I love this one. It's like Bill and Ted on an un-excellent acid trip. And I think you'll all agree that my middle name could very well be bodacious. (Or is it atrocious? I always get those two mixed up). Anyway, I'm passing this on to

la bellina mammina
swearingmother
Akelamalu at Everything and Nothing
Kimberly at Temporary? Insanity
Crystal Jigsaw

This Rockin' Girl Blogger Award comes from Stacie at Heeeeeere Storkey Storkey! Isn't this fab? Because if there's anything I am it's Rockin'. I can rock a pair of granny undies with the best of them. And my bifocals kick ass. (At least the top half does. The bottom part is still a little blurry). Thanks, Stacie! I'm passing this on to

Iota at Not wrong, just different
Ciara at Ramblings and Whatnot
Diana at Piffle
Amy at Blog to the Bone
Kaycie at lost in the Bible belt

The You Make Me Smile Award is from la bellina mammina, the queen of Singapore blogs. Thanks, bella! This is appropriate coming from her as her blog and photos bring a smile to my face whenever I see them. Her children are way cuter and better behaved than mine, but I don't hold it against her. I just pull out pictures of her kids whenever anyone asks to see what my kids look like. Works like a charm. She has all boys too. See? Perfect.

I'm giving this one to

Willowtree at A Dingo's got my barbie
Eileen at A Life of Triggers
Pixelpi at Motes and all things small
Stacie at Heeeeeere Storkey, Storkey!
The Misadventures of Adulthood
wakeupandsmellthecoffee
Irene at Sweet Wood Talking

This comes from Akelamalu at Everything and Nothing.
The Breakout Blogger Award originated at bobborama dot com
This is how they describe it:

Th
is award casts a spotlight on bloggers who are just beginning to draw lotsa attention — the equivalent of a song with a bullet on Billboard’s Top 100 chart. Lotsa good posts. Lotsa good buzz. These bloggers are going places in a hurry.
.
Yowsah! How cool is that?? (Does going to the supermarket count as going places? And if it's to pack a school lunch ten minutes before the kids have to leave is that considered going places in a hurry? And if I get a ticket because I'm driving too fast does that count as drawing lots of attention? Just wondering). In any event -thanks, Akela!

This one is going to

laurie at Three Dog Blog
Jen at A Snowball's Chance...
Flowerpot at Flowerpot Days
Jo Beaufoix
Mya at Missing You Already
Dumdad at The Other Side of Paris
.
T

Now you all get to give the award to your own Break Out Bloggers … and then send them to this Awards Page for the instructions and code. (these are their instructions).

And just for kicks and giggles, I stole borrowed this from la bellina mammina, just to break up the Awards show monotony a little bit. I love that I am bursting with caffeinated sweetness. Beats the heck out of what I'm normally bursting with, which is uncut BS. I don't think that's an ice cream flavor with a big following however. I wouldn't ask for a tester spoon, lets just put it that way.

Increase volume on music, cut to commercial, roll credits...it's a wrap!

the gabbies, part something

Can I say first that awards are fabulous and the more the merrier you people are all far too kind and generous with these lovely awards. And that I absolutely don't deserve them. (That's not even a strike out). Thank you from the bottom of my rotten little heart.

The first, Blogging That hits the mark!, is from Ciara at Ramblings and Whatnot. I guess if the mark is something squishy hitting a fan, I'm your gal. Thanks, Ciara!

I'm passing this along to:

Jen at A Snowball's Chance...
Jo Beaufoix
Mya at Missing You Already
wakeupandsmellthecoffee

An Apple for Teacher Blog Award is from Irene at
Sweet Wood Talking. Here is the description of this one -

"It is for those people who spend so much time and energy teaching us how to do things on blogs, encouraging us, enabling us, instructing us and enthusing us."

Wow. Do I do that? Thanks, Irene!

This one goes to:

Dumdad at The Other Side of Paris
Akelamalu at Everything and Nothing
pixelpi at Motes & other small things
Eileen at A Life of Triggers

Lastly, from Flowerpot at Flowerpot Days, comes the gender neutral Awesome Dude Blogger award. Every time I look in a mirror lately I think there's a Dude looking back at me, so I think this is quite appropriate. Thanks, Flowerpot!

Step up, Dudes and Dudettes:

Ciara at Ramblings and Whatnot
Diana at Piffle
Amy at Blog to the Bone
Irene at Sweet Wood Talking

And, as mentioned earlier this week, from Jo Beaufoix comes the Blogging Star Award. Thanks again, Jo!

And the winners are:

laurie at Three Dog Blog
Kaycie at lost in the Bible Belt
Crystal Jigsaw
Flowerpot at Flowerpot Days

I do apologize for the lackluster Gabby Awards Presentation this time around. The dance numbers were out of step, the presenters forgot their lines and the jokes fell flat. This has been an unexpected burner of a last few days and I'm running a quart low about now. I've also been very lax in my blog reading and commenting the last little bit, but don't give up on me. I'm going to get a good nights sleep and attack the keyboard with a vengeance tomorrow!

wanna be a Blog Star?

The always fabulous (if slightly confused) Jo Beaufoix has passed on a lovely award, the Blogging Star, that I will now be sure to lovingly spit polish and trot out to show company. I'm pretty sure she entered my name by mistake, which is why I'm posting this immediately, so she can't claim user error and revoke my star. No takebacks, Jo!

Tsk. Even my children know that. Well, at least one of them does.

My dress with the industrial strength girdle is at the cleaners, so we'll do The Gabby Awards as soon as it's safely back. Sweet Irene has also very nicely (did you think I was going to say sweetly? tsk again.) passed an award my way and that will be presented at the same time. Thanks ladies, you're the best!

Hang on a sec. I've just had a thought. (Typically, this is where my troubles begin). Now, this may be a U.S. thing at the moment, but I can't seem to go more than three blocks in my car without hearing "Rockstar" by Nickelback on the radio. Even more annoyingly, it's settled into my brain as an aggravating little earworm that I can't get rid of. Consequently, I've had this dumbbutt song running unasked through my head for weeks, which may explain a lot but doesn't offer me much comfort.

If you've been lucky enough to avoid it, by all means don't watch this video clip.

Rockstar

[via FoxyTunes / Nickelback]

So, in honor of the Blogging Star award, I present...

Blogstar

'Cause we all just wanna be big Blog stars
And live in hilltop houses driving fifteen cars
The links come easy and the ads come cheap
We'll all be happy 'cause we're big Blog geeks

And we'll hang out in a social whirl
Counting up our page visits and referrals
Every brand new reader
With time to spare
Is gonna stop to comment
And show they care

And we'll hide out in our private rooms
With the latest dictionary
and today's who's who
And they'll mention us along with Ree
And if we're really lucky Willowtree

Everybody's got a Site Meter
On speed dial

Hey hey I wanna be a Blog Star
Hey hey I wanna be a Blog Star

Whaddya think? Should I start losing weight for the Grammy's now? Or should I hold off?

The Gabbies and Six Degrees

Very shortly one of two things will happen. Either my head will get too big to fit through the door or all of you very nice award-giving people will decide that I'm more trouble than I'm worth and take your blog reading business elsewhere. I'm seriously hoping it will be the former. Heads fitting through the door are highly overrated anyway. But losing my blog buddies...now that would be a disaster!

From the wonderful and well-travelled la bellina mammina comes the

which I am thrilled to accept. And I'm playing it forward to...

Ciara at Ramblings and Whatnot
Iota at Not wrong, just different
Diana at Piffle
laurie at Three Dog Blog
Flowerpot Days

Because I think they are really thoughtful and have very interesting ways of looking at things that always make me think. It's so nice to have different perspectives on things, and they certainly provide that.

And from one of my bestest blog babes Jo Beaufoix is the

which evidently is intended to prove that it never hurts to be nice. It's to thank people for responding to posts and being encouraging and polite all around. I have a southern mother. Impolite isn't an option. She'd kick the grits out of me. Politely, of course.

I'm giving this to...

Swearing Mother
Pixel Pi at Motes & other small things
Diana at Piffle
laurie at Three Dog Blog
Flowerpot Days

Because I can always count on an encouraging word and nice comment from this bunch, whether it's on their blog as a response to a comment or as a comment on my own site. Or both. The urge to give this to willowtree just to see how he would modify the award to fit his site is almost overwhelming. But I'm resisting. This time at least.

My girdle is killing me and my mascara is running, so I guess I'm done. It seems like Awards Season is upon us again, doesn't it? I'm impressed with myself. I think I actually managed to hand out my awards before they cut away from me and went to a commercial break for feminine hygiene products.

Mwah!

*************************************************************************************
**************************************************************************************
*************************************************************************************

Just to get everybody ready for tomorrow's movie post, let's play Six Degrees. I'm sure you've all heard of it. It started with Kevin Bacon, since he's been in so many movies with so many different people. The idea is to link one actor to another in six steps or less. Here's an example -

Adam Sandler to Winona Ryder

1. Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore in 50 First Dates
2. Drew Barrymore and Demi Moore in Charlie's Angels
3. Demi Moore and Woody Harrelson in Indecent Proposal
4. Woody Harrelson and Keifer Sutherland in The Cowboy Way
5. Keifer Sutherland and Angelina Jolie in Taking Lives
6. Angelina Jolie and Winona Ryder in Girl, Interrupted

Simple, huh?

Here's another not too awful one...

Link Michelle Pfeiffer to John Cusack in six steps or less.

On your mark, get set, GO!

The Gabbies - The Late Show

I was having a fine old time yesterday checking what I call my "Buddy Blogs" until I got to Jen's site. She was handing out awards, which was not the problem. The problem was that as I was reading, I had this awful realization that three weeks ago when I was heading off on vacation, I promised that I would "play forward" awards that I had just received as soon as I got home. And then I completely forgot to do it. Oh, the awards are up on my blog, looking all cute and perky, but I never passed them on. I. Am. Not. Worthy.

So as I hang my head in shame, sure to see my name on some cyber bathroom wall, I'm going to start tossing out awards in the hope that you'll all have just as bad a memory as I evidently do. And then we can all forget I ever did this and move on past my gross ettiquette breach. Deal?

Disclaimer: For some reason hyperlink isn't working for me, so none of these sites actually link. However, they're all in the right column on my links under Fun Reads. Check them out if you haven't.

From the marvelous Jo Beafoix, who plain cracks me up, I received the

I am passing this along to...

Akelamalu at Everything and Nothing, because she has the most fabulous multi-media site I've seen. And also because I love pretty much everything she does on her blog.

Three Dog Blog. You can always tell the journalists. They hook you hard and then keep you that way. Great pictures and great writing.

Piffle. A relatively new find that I just love. Funny, thoughtful and with a sarcastic streak a mile wide. My kind of blog.

Flowerpot. Also a recent find that keeps me coming back for more. Beautifully done and grabs you by the heartstrings more than once.

And to Dumdad at The Other Side of Paris I'm giving the

because he makes you think all right. Through the tears of laughter streaming down your face, until you think you're going to choke. Remember what I said about the journalists. It's true again here.

And from the lovely Akelamalu I received the

award. You don't have to be no stinkin' dude to be a dude, dude. (I got called dude by the grocery bagger just yesterday, now that I think of it).

I'm giving this one to...

Jen at A Snowball's Chance In... because, well, she's awesome. And funny. And looks at things in the slightly warped way I crave. And because we've been through the blog trenches with pesky viruses and comment codes written in Vulcan code. Did I mention that she's awesome?

Jo Beaufoix - Her site has been down for a bit lately and I've felt terrible withdrawal pains. Every day I'd check hopefully and find nothing. A couple of days ago when it was back up I jumped out of my chair and yelled. That, my friends, is awesome.

Mya at Missing You Already - I hate to let her know how much I miss her with all of this gallivanting around she's doing, because it's entirely possible it will go straight to her head. Even knowing that, I have to admit that a day without Mya's outlook is a bleak one. So I'm going with Awesome. Only because no one has come up with a Slacker Award yet.

And there you have it. Can I just take this opportunity (now that I have the stage and before they cue the music and cut to a commercial) to say something to all of you? If anyone had told me six months ago how many amazing people would become part of my day because of blogging I'm not sure I'd have believed it. But you have andI do.

And I absolutely love it.

The Gabbies - part deux

Well, well. It seems to be Awards season again. And while I do agree with some of the other recipients that there has been an awful lot of air kissing going on I don't care. I love awards. I am the Nicole Ritchie of the blog circuit. Throw it my way and I'll gratefully accept it. Really.

From the always amusing Jo Beaufoix comes the Creative Bloggers Award. If creative means flying by the seat of your pants and cussing at your keyboard...that's Me! I always wondered what that whole process was called. Now I know.

And from Akelamalu at Everything And Nothing comes this gender modified Award. Can you just see me air guitaring right now? Seriously, how cool is this anyway?

The fact that these two gals who constantly keep me entertained would think to give me anything makes me smile. A big fat thank you, ladies. Mwah!

I will be handing out my awards when I get back from my trip next week. We're heading to my folk's lake house for a few days andI don't know where the time has gone this week. I've been running for daylight, and as all you other awardees know there's a lot of cut and paste involved in this!

Come back next Wednesday for the festivities. Please?

2007 Gab Awards

Lord have mercy. I go to work for the 172 hour shift from hell, and I come back to so many awards being handed out that I actually had to make myself a flow-sheet. And at the top of that sheet was written "Yahoo! Someone actually thinks what I'm doing is worth reading. And I have friends!!" (I don't look a thing like Sally Field, by the way).

Okay, I'm done now.

So off we go. My buddies Jo and Mya both picked me for this Thoughtful Bloggers Award, which raises questions about their taste levels that I think we should leave alone. However, Mya is on vacation and Jo is about to go, so maybe they're a little pre-occupied. No matter. I'll take it. Gratefully.

Now I get to pick five people to pass on to. The idea behind this award is that different people do different things, and they should be recognized for that. In keeping with that we can pick the award tag we want for them. In our opinion. So here are the five people I'm giving an award to.

The Creative Blogger Award goes to...

Jo Beaufoix- who looks at things in ways that always make me laugh. So there, ma'am.

Jen - who is just creative with a capital C. With a Canadian drawl.

Mya - who has actually made me come close to wetting myself. I'd never admit if I really had.

Not wrong, just different - a new member of the bunch who is just twisted enough to fit right in.
Welcome!

And the Courageous Blogger Award goes to...

Happy In The Abyss. Who also happens to be my sister-in-law Leigh, and who is much more upfront about things than I ever could be. I just don't have the nerve. But she does.

Then we have the Schmooze Award, given to me by the pee-inducing Mya. This award is the idea of Mike at Ordinary Folk. He defines schmoozing as the ability to converse casually with others and make social connections. Mya compares it to arse-licking, which is a thing I would never say. Especially if I agreed. I'll still take it.

And for this I pick...

Not Wrong, just different - for reaching out wholeheartedly to her newly midwestern world.

Happy in the Abyss - for sticking out the whole blog thing. Just to spite big sis.

stratford girl - for being a very fun read.

relevance and revolution - because she's my bud and I love her. And man, can she schmooze.

wife in the north - because I want to schmooze with her. Can I? Please? We're all fans.

Okay, the trifecta is almost over. The final hat trick is the...

award. Given by the aforementioned Not Wrong, just different. I think the Kansas girls are sticking together. Now she did mention that she thought I fibbed a little and that no one could do as much as I say I do? Have I mentioned all the hours I sit on my ass eating popcorn and reading mystery novels? Drinking wine? On the internet? (uh oh). Pleading with the Health Department not to condemn my house? Now there's a full time job. Believe me, present schedule definitely excluded, I have the best part-time job ever. Lots of free time.

But...I'm not sure if this fits under fibber or something else, but I'm supposed to pick two people to pass this on to and can't. I have to go back to my heavenly trifecta...

because these three are the ones who get me through my worst days. And in my world, they rock. Big, fat, serious ROCK. I will now rest my case.

Are there blog thugs that come and beat me up if I ignore the "rules"? Do they know where I live and how to bribe my dogs? (beef, lots of it). I've seen the Sopranos. Bring it on...

Whew. Gotta go take off that gown. I can't breathe.
P.S. This post was brought to you by cut, paste and highlight. There's a trio for you.

Wow!

Unbelievable. My Code Pink post from earlier this week just got picked as Post of the Day at The Rising Blogger. Now I admit that he called me "all over the place", but hey, I'll take it. What a kick! Thanks for the nomination, Leigh!
